Interschool_ Talent_ Art Festival So here are our Little Stars with ostentatious results in the #Inter_School_Talent_Art_Festival organized by Little Genius aiming at the students’ creativity in the field of Singing, Art, Story telling , and Dance acts. Our little genius came up with outstanding results by winning prizes in Action Song,Story time,Group Dance, and Dancing Toes. Dunes International School was also awarded with “#Little_Genius_Ever_Rolling_Trophy”. Congratulations to all the little stars of Dunes International School.... 2

Students of grade 1 and 2 had their Sports Day Preliminary Rounds on 19th November 2019. All the students have equal opportunity to show their talents and best per- formers have been selected to participate in the upcoming sports day. 3

Cooperation leads to success! Students of grade 1 G presented an assembly based on the topic effect of IT in real life incorporated with the theme of the month cooperation. They per- formed a skit based on how smartphone affects our daily life. Then they have conveyed the message to keep the phone away and cooperate with each other through an action song. Students of grade 1 learned how smart phone changed our life and how can we overcome it. During assembly student of grade 1G, Angela Mathew was felicitated for securing second position in ‘Look and write’ competition held during Little Star festival at Indian School Al Wathba on Saturday, 16.11.2019. 4

House is a place in which we live. All living being such as animals, birds and humans need a place to live. It keeps us safe from bad weather such as rain, sunlight, storm and other natural disasters. In this activity students were able to describe about houses and explain the importance of different rooms in a house. This ac- tivity helped to develop communication skill and independent learning. 9

The grade 1 students have been in- quiring into ways to measure mass; how heavy something is. The stu- dents were then introduced to type of scales to compare and measure weight; a weighing balance. Many of the students identified it similar to a seesaw. Firstly, the students had some time in groups to explore how to use a balance and then as a class we came up with a list of tips on how to use a balance to measure weight. Then they compared some object how heavier or lighter they are. 10

“Comprehension is a conversation between the reader and the text” The act of reading is a straightforward task that’s easy to master. In reality, it’s a complex process that draws on many different skills. Together, these skills lead to the ultimate goal of reading: reading comprehension, or understanding what’s been read. Reading comprehension can be challenging for lots of reasons. Students acquire six essential skills like decoding, fluency, vocabulary, sentence construction and cohesion, reasoning and background knowledge, working memory and attention. 11

In this activity students learned the letter( ‫ ) خ‬in its forms and sounds when used in the first, middle and end of the word . Students painted a lamb image because a sheep in the Arabic language begins with the voice of Kha . 12

Morning assemblies are a very important part in a student’s life. Students learn ac- tions to go along with the song, which gives a sense of happiness and excitement to start the day. Singing boosts confidence and energy . It keeps one active and fit. 13

This activity allows develop writing skills. The purpose of this activi- ty is to learn , to speak and to write the matras with letter. The students of grade- 1 enthusiastical- ly presented their views about the picture and were able to learn the new words in Hindi with meanings in English. 14
