BASKETBALL TOURNAMENT The Revenue district basketball tournament was held at Velammal, Mogappair on 24/10/2019. Our school participated in the Under -19 and Under - 14 category. The Team participated in Under -14 category emerged as the runner. TENNIKOIT TOURNAMENT The revenue district tennikoit tournament was held at Vellammal, Panchetti on 29.10.2019. Our school u-19 girls singles and u-19 boys doubles team participated. The boys emerged winners in under 19 boys singles category. Athletic Meet ATHLETIC MEET The revenue district Athletic meet was held from 4.11.2019 to 6.11.2019 at TSP battalion ground 2, Avadi. 8 boys and 6 girls from our school participated and secured 5 silver medals and 2 bronze medals. Lakshya.S of X B has been qualified to represent the school at the State Level in 100 mts hurdles. 71

Rainbow Riders A SPECTACULAR DISPLAY The kindergarten “Rainbow Riders” Sports day was conducted on Saturday the 16th November 2019. The entire atmosphere of the School had a festive look. The kindergarteners , some of our senior volunteers and teachers were so enthusiastic as the events kick started. The mere presence and interest shown by the parents offered enormous support to the entire events. Their encouragement raised the spirits of the kids. The touch of our little chirpy birds rendering the prayer song, followed by the welcome dance, the toddlers walk, shimmering Rainbow Drill and obstacle games boosted the spirit of sports in children. The program ended with the vote of thanks and children departed with an accomplishing smile on their faces. 72

State Athletic Meet The 62nd school state athletic meet was held at Trichy, Thottiyam from 18.11.19 to 20.11.19. S.Lakshya of class X B participated in the 100mts hurdles in the under-17 (girls) category. 73

Junior BasketBall Championship 2019-2020 Get fit (Transformers) conducted Basketball Championship for ECA after school for participants class of classes 3 to 8 on 11th December 2019. The event was inaugurated by Mrs. Meera Bai Gopi – Section Head Primary. 31 students from primary (4 boys and 4 girls team) and 14 students from middle school (two teams) participated in the event. The match was conducted on knock out basis. This event showcased the skills learnt by the students during their ECA classes and motivated the students on sportsmanship. Parents of all participants witnessed the match. At the end of the match certificates were distributed to all participants. 74

Health and Safety AWARENESS PROGRAM ON HEPATITIS B&C T.I Cycles conducted an awareness program on Hepatitis B&C on 3/8/2019 at T.I Cycles factory. Volunteers from classes VIII and IX were a part of this awareness program. The students escorted by four teachers along with the employees of T.I Cycles formed a Human Chain from T.I cycles to T.I school. A hepatologist addressed the gathering at the T.I cycles factory and brought about an awareness of Hepatitis B & C and suggested steps and measures that every individual should take to avoid contacting this virus. At the end of the session, Dr. Bharathi addressed the teachers at the auditorium in T.I school and sensitized them on Hepatitis B&C. The teachers were also invited to the vaccination camp which was organized at T.I cycles on the same day. 75

EAT HEALTHY STAY HEALTHY Mrs. N. Kalaivani member of safety team attended the workshop conducted by FSSAI- FOOD SAFETY AND STANDARDS AUTHORITY OF INDIA on 10.03.2020 by Mrs. Shyla Ravi. The workshop focused on food safety, food allergy, location of the mess, facilities, health status of the workers involved in the preparation of food, their behavior and personal hygiene. 76

TRAVEL AND LEARN FIEFD TRIP – STD IV – GOVERNMENT MUSEUM, EGMORE • Class 4 was taken for a field trip to the Government Museum situated at Egmore on the 29th of June 2019. Six teachers escorted the students. As a pre- learning activity the students viewed a clipping on ‘The Earlyman, the discovery of fire and wheel and traditional dresses of India’, at the A.V.Hall at school the day before. A post trip activity was assigned the following day. 77

SPOTS AT MUSEUM The students were taken to various spots at the Museum and were able to see and learn from the following avenues Fossil Gallery: A display of fossils and various other artifacts helped the students to gain knowledge about fossils and extinct animals. Extinct vertebrates gallery: A display of skeletal system and stuffed land and aquatic invertebrates and an explanation by the teachers helped the students to learn about the life of the animal kingdom that had become extinct. Life of early man and the use of the thumb: An activity to understand the use of the thumb was demonstrated and a description on the lifestyle of early man was given by Mrs. Kamakshi. Children’s Gallery Traditional dresses of India: A display of photographs, pictures, paintings, models on the ancient civilizations of the world and the traditional dresses of India offered a vivid insight about human civilization and the gradual growth and change of fashion and lifestyle of the human race. 78

BFISS IN KODAI “I see my path, but I dop’t kpow where it leads. Not kpowipg where I’m goipg is what ipspires me to travel it.\" Patience is the key, because when the right time comes, you know it’s a beautiful feel. The Nature Club and the Info Bee Club organized an educational trip to Kodaikanal for the students of classes 9 and 10 from 26th to 30th of June 2019. A total of 43 students, accompanied by Mr. Arunkumar, Mr. Shankar Narayanan, Mrs. Venitia and Mrs. Yolanda had taken off for the trip to the Queen of hills in Southern India, Kodaikanal. On 27th, being the first day at Kodaikanal, the students visited the Shola Forests followed by a short trek to Vattakanalwater falls. Mr. Vijay led the trail into the forest making it very joyfully adventurous and informative. They also visited the PalaniHills Conservatory Council which was led by Mr. Bala. He quoted,“The health of the hills is the wealth of the wills.” 79

They were surrounded by different species of flora, fauna and a geographical terrain that is never to be missed. They even learnt about honeybee foraging, a truly blissful experience. Way back into the history, the students had spent opportune time in an ancient cemetery with Mrs. Beula. The second daycommenced with bird watching. It is said that in order to see birds it is necessary to keep your eyes wide open and the mouth tightlipped. The students were able to sight some of the rarest and most beautiful birds. They were also privileged to visit the Indian Institute of Astro Physics (IIAP). This quarter of Astro physics in Kodaikanal significantly deals with the sun. Ms. Deepika briefed the students on Sun and shared some fantastic facts about it. They also had the pleasure to meet Mr. Ashish, Mr. Kamal and Mr. Dinesh who briefed them on the functioning of Meteorological Department. They also had an opportunity to observe the sun through the telescope. By the evening, they visited the Bryant Park which was an amusing and a pleasing one. They spent quality time creating memories and having loads of fun. 80

A campfire was then blazed and all surrounded the fire singing songs, dancing and had a joyous evening. They also celebrated few of their friends’ birthdays by cutting the cake. Towards the end of the day a review was organized wherein students shared their experiences. Somewhere between the bottom of the climb and the summit, there lies the answer to the mystery why we climb. No words can ever explain the bliss that you experience through the trails of these forest climbs. On the third day they had a long trek towards Dolphin nose which was also led by Mr. Vijay. They then visited the Rose Garden which was again a place with beauty and mesmerizing majestic flowers. On their way back, they had a glimpse at the Shenbaganur museum. Summing up, they had a good stay at Kodaikanal, having lots of fun, getting loads of knowledge and experiencing some adventure with soothing surroundings. “An expectation doesn’t always become a reality, but… Unexpected moments make beautiful memories. May our time with nature lead us to ourselves…” 81

FIEFD TRIP – STD III Class 3 was taken for a field trip to the Rail Museum situated at the Integral Coach Factory, Villivakkam on 5thof July 2019. Three teachers and four parents escorted the students. The students viewed a clipping, 'The History of Railways’ at the A.V.Hall at school and they answered a few questions provided in the activity sheets. They also enjoyed a train song, ‘Train train……..’ On reaching the place, the students were taken to various spots at the Museum. a) The Art Gallery: A display of photographs of Indian Railways during the time of the British and after Indian Independence. b) The Mountain railway engine: A display of ‘Pinion and Rack’ that grip the engine and the carriages from slipping down the slopes and an explanation by the teachers. 82

c) Fowler ploughing Engine: An exhibit of the first ever engine that ploughed fields. d) Museum: Exhibits of ancient and modern engines, coaches and bridges and a double purpose furniture- a ladder and a chair (more than a century old) used in engines to save space. e) Levers that change tracks. f) Officers’ coach completely made of wood and used by the British. g) A joy ride in the children’s train. 83

FIEFD TRIP – STD II Class 2 was taken for a field trip to the Aringnar Anna Zoological Park (Vandalur Zoo) situated at Chennai on 12th of July 2019. Three teachers and four parents escorted the students. The students viewed a movie ‘My Animal friends’ as a pre -activity at the A.V.Hall, in school and they answered a few questions given in the activity sheet as a Post trip activity. At the zoo,a zoo educator gave a brief talk about the different animals at the zoo. The children were taken around the zoo in a battery car, where they observed many animals like Bengal tiger, Lion, Elephant, Chimpanzee, peacock, monkeys, snakes etc. The trip was thus an enriching and learning experience for the students. .The excursion proved to be an outdoor classroom for the students and they were able to accommodate and assimilate knowledge. Overall, it was a day well spent and our children returned with wonderful memories. 85

TRIP TO THE PRINCESS OF HILL STATIONS- KODAIKANAL We the students of class XI embarked on an exciting, educational and adventurous trip to the beautiful hills of Kodaikanal from the 16th of August to the 20th of August. We started our journey by train to Dindugal. Then, we reached Kodai by bus. While travelling, we spent quality time with our friends. We visited the Indian Institute of Astro Physics. We were welcomed by Dr.Ebenezer. The resource person, Ms. Deepika threw more light on the huge ball of fire i.e the sun. We also entered into the world of telescope and learnt about the auras too. Then, we embarked to the Bryant Park. The park was bejeweled with various species of plants, shrubs, hybrids and grafts. Unique and exotic types of roses were grown in the park. We cycled around the Kodaikanal Lake. The sparkling blue water was a tranquil spot for nature lovers to enjoy in the lap of mother earth, away from the hustle and bustle of city life. At night we danced to our heart’s content around the Camp fire. 86

The next day was full of adventure. We went on a walk to the Palani hills conservatory council.We met Mr.Bala , secretary of Palani hill conservatory council .We got an awareness on the geography of kodai ,uses of plants, destruction of few plants, behavior of animals and their habitat . We had a wonderful trekking experience. The resource person Mr. Vijay guided us in our long trek to Vattakanal waterfalls. During our trekking we collected different types of specimens. We had a memorable experience in the waterfalls. We spotted a bison (Indian gaur) and we were amazed to see its size. The water flowed down from the hilltop making its way through the verdant greenery of the region. Then, we walked in the lovely path of coaker’s walk that curves by the edge of gorgeous mountain. We saw a glimpse of paradise on earth. The next day, early in the morning we went ‘bird watching.’ The chirping of the birds and the cool breeze blowing on our face mesmerized us. Slowly, the sun started to rise in between the hills, which was a mind- blowing view. We proceeded to a small trek to the Alnus forest. The sight of pine trees in abundance and welcoming us to their world is nothing but nature’s wonder. We then spent some relaxing moments in the Rose garden. At last we visited the Shembagananur museum. We gained knowledge about moths, mammals, birds and butterflies. Kodaikanal is nature’s unhindered beauty. The climate was an extremely praise worthy one. On the whole it was fun filled and we were mesmerized by the beauty of Kodaikanal. 87

FIELD TRIP – STD V – THE FARM Students of Standard 5 enjoyed their field trip to THE FARM situated on the OMR, Semmanenchery on the 2nd of August 2019 escorted by their teachers and few parents. . As a pre - learning activity the students viewed a video clipping on ‘Organic Farming’ at school 88

Activities at THE FARM included manure sieving and mixing, weeding, sowing the seed, walking in the vegetable garden, plucking the edible leaves for the restaurant, and feeding of the birds and cattle at the farm. Students were served watermelon juice and homemade baked biscuits. Students enjoyed all the hands-on activities. 89

FIELD TRIP – STD VI 2019 The students of standard VI visited Dakshinachitra on 29th of August 2019 along with their teachers. The activity started with a brief note from the guide on Dakshinachitra and visit to different types of houses in South India which are real dismantled and assembled houses from Tamilnadu, Kerala, Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh. Dakshinachitra arranged for Mayilattam, Bommalaatam, and a magic show. Children were exposed to the various art forms of the past and their nomenclatures. The eve of Onam, was celebrated by Pookalam, Jandamelam and traditional dance performance which lifted their spirits and made them happy. 90

FIELD TRIP – STD VII 2019 ‘INDIA SEASHELL MUSEUM’ The students of standard VII visited the India Seashell Museum on 13th of November 2019. Two teachers and two parents escorted the children. This field trip was designed in an effort to make the students understand the needs of museums and to gain knowledge about the things that are preserved in a museum. The activity started with a brief note from the Manager of the Museum regarding the History of the museum, Shell collection and pearl culture. During his interaction with students, he posed a question on pearl culture for which P S Tharika of VII A responded appropriately and was presented a small gift. Videos on different types of sea species and pearl culture were screened. Students moved to various galleries to view different types of shells displayed. Following this they visited the aquarium, where they saw different types of fishes. They were then directed to the pearl museum where real and cultured pearls were displayed. This was followed by a visit to the Dinosaur Museum where they saw different types of 3D dinosaur models with sounds and movements. Finally,students visited the Art gallery where they saw 3D paintings of humans and animals. Students learnt about ‘pearl culture’ and were provided an opportunity to identify the different types of shells available in the world. They also witnessed the world’s largest and smallest shell. They also gained knowledge about the significance and uniqueness of Valamburi shell. It was indeed a fun-filled and an informative trip for the students. 91

MY NEIGHBOURHOOD KINDERGARTEN FIELD TRIP “MY NEIGHBOURHOOD” took place on 22nd November 2019. Children of UKG were taken for a Field Trip to the Shiva Temple and the Ambattur Post Office. At the post office they were welcomed by Mr.Viswanathan (postmaster) and he spoke about the purpose and the function of the post office. Children also had a glimpse of the Police station and Fire station. This extended into a class activity wherein children were asked to draw their favorite place. 93

TRIP TO MAHABALIPURAM The Art and Heritage Club organised a trip to Mamallapuram on 23.11.2019. Twenty-eight students and three teachers from both the clubs were a part of the trip during the Heritage week celebrations. Mr.Illango from the Archaeology department, Mamallapuram gave an insight on the significance and the story behind each sculpture. Students viewed Pancharathas, light house, Mahisasura Mardhini cave, Raya Gopuram, Krishna’s butter ball. The last site of the visit was the Shore temple.The trip enriched their knowledge on the architecture of the Pallava kings. 94

Training and Workshop Conference on Artificial Intelligence A Conference on Artificial Intelligence was conducted on 21st June 2019 at Taj Club House. The workshop was attended by Mr. D. SenthilKkumar, Principal and Mrs. Meera Gopi Section Head – Primary. The workshop was a half day session with a key note address on what artificial intelligence is and the need to include the same as part of curriculum. The Guest Speakers were: 1. Dr. Sanjay Malaviya, Founder The Future Foundation 2. Dr. M.M. Pant, IIT Kanpur. The discussion revolved around the following:  Change is permanent  Education has not changed in the same pace as other areas  What the school needs to do to meet the challenges of the ever changing world (4th industrial age)  Artificial intelligence (the ability to distinguish, classify and recommend)  Machine learning (ability to see patterns based on previous experience)  Deep learning (use of neural network) 95

Continuing professional development workshop Continuing professional development workshop for teachers by British Council was held on 28/6/2019 at MMA CENTRE (Thousand Lights) and Mrs Sreelatha Jayarajan participated in it. Session I was developed and delivered by British council trainer Ms.Priyanka. The Session started with an activity which helped us to get to know the participants. The module provided a basic overview of 21st century skills and aimed to introduce the six core skill. Professional practices covered in the session.  Promoting 21st century skill Core skills  Critical thinking and problem solving  Collaboration and communication  Citizenship  Digital literacy  Student leadership and Personal development.  Deep Learning  Master academic content  Think critically and solve complex problems  Work collaboratively  Communicate effectively  Be self-directed and learn how to learn. Each point mentioned above was discussed in groups for deeper understanding and the existing practices in different schools on these lines were shared. The session concluded by summing up the take home learning practices. Participants received Participation Certificates at the end. The session motivated each one to upskill 96

Leading and Managing Change fessional development workshop “Leading and Managing change” is a continuing Professional Development workshop for School leaders designed by The British Council. Mrs. Mary Bennette participated in the workshop which was held at Hotel Rain tree on 21st June 2019 from 10am to 5pm. The resource person was Ms.Manisha Dak. The learning outcomes of the programme were:  Understanding the significance of change in the 21st century  Understanding how to manage resistance to and fear of change  Knowing about models for leading change to improve outcomes  Being able to consider tools and techniques for implementing change  Being able to identify how to approach a change project in school The above learning outcomes were achieved through activity, group discussion and sharing. The programme was really a productive one. 97

Workshop on “Teaching MaTheMaTics WiTh ManipulaTive ge Mrs.K.Vijayalakshmi afndesMsriso. MnaUlshda eatvteenldoedpamMeantht wwoorkrshkosphoon p“Teaching Mathematics with manipulative.” At Hotel Regenta Central Deccan, Chennai on 14th and 15th June 2019. After a detailed discussion, we were given a hands on experience on how to use Math kits in order to help the children visualize the concepts they learn. A few Math games were taught which can be used as attention grabbers to engage children in class. Most of the activities are part of the systemand are in practice. Learning Outcome: Through these activities, Mathematics can be learnt in a joyful way. Children can improve their reasoning and thinking skills. This workshop not only enhanced teaching skills but also inspired us to help children explore math. 98

Workshop 07/07/2019 ge fessional development workshop The ‘ Young Scientist’ workshop on Gravity for students of classes 6 to 8 was held on 7/07/2019 at IIT Park Sholinganallur. The children were accompanied by the Principal Mr Senthil Kumar , Mr.K.Sankarayanan Librarian and Mrs Priya Shankar Social Science teacher. Twenty eight students participated in the workshop.The resource person Mr Satish and MS. Shilpa explained the concept of gravity with simple experiments.The children experimented and enjoyed the outcome. Videos on gravity were shown and the incidents from the life of Galileo and Newton were shared in the class.The children enjoyed the experience gained from the workshop. The session was very interactive. 99

Workshop on 26.07.2019 – CSPathshala – Computational thinking ge fessional development workshop CSpathshala is an Association for Computing Machinery & ACM India, initiative to bring a modern, unplugged, computational thinking curriculum to Indian schools. Tamil Nadu SCERT has embedded the CT curriculum into mathematics and over 10,000 schools are teaching the same. Cambridge University Press has also published books for grades 1-8 based on content developed by CSPathshala. Ms. Uma & Ms. Sivasankari were a part of CSPathshala workshop, which threw emphasis on \"computational thinking” as a teaching methodology. The speakers focused on methods to use computational thinking to the student level using various activities. Discrete math, Systematic counting, Listing & Reasoning, Algorithms were dealt with the Pathshala curriculum through activities. Teachers were given opportunities to explore and experienced the activities to enhance the teaching-learning process. The day's highlight was the sudoku solving, Binary counting techniques, which could enhance the learning level of the students, as the techniques were based on inhibiting computational thinking unknowingly in the learner's mind. 100
