Academic medical centers We have wide-ranging experience working with academic medical centers (AMCs) and understand the full range of health care legal and structural issues, including the unique relationships among medical centers, schools of medicine and faculty, and the role of clinical research. Dentons’ lawyers have assisted teaching hospital clients with Medicare and Medicaid reimbursement and policy issues involving direct and indirect graduate medical education (GME) payments. False Claims Act and white collar litigation False Claims Act (FCA) litigation is growing, and reputational and financial risks for health insurers and providers are rising. Medicaid managed care More than half of all Medicaid beneficiaries nationally receive most or all of their care from risk-based managed care organizations (MCOs) that contract with state Medicaid programs to deliver health care services to enrollees. Although not all state Medicaid programs contract with MCOs, a large and growing number do, and states are including more medically complex beneficiaries, delivering more long-term services and support and—with the help of financial incentives provided to states under the Affordable Care Act (ACA)—serving millions of newly eligible low-income adults.
