Dedication Bro. Jim Marcum It is the pleasure of the yearbook staff to dedicate the 2017 Doulos to Bro. Jim Marcum As the president of Southeastern, Bro. Jim consistently proves himself as a faithful and loving leader who is dedicated to training students for the work of the ministry. Because of Bro. Jim’s faithfulness, God has used him to open many doors for the college. His love for the college and students is evident in the way he gives his time above and beyond what is required. When asked to describe Bro. Jim in one word, the student body and staff replied with such words as compassionate, relatable, Ted Cruz look-alike, committed, a leader, inner city hillbilly, thoughtful, and pretty much “The Man.” Bro. Jim is a generous and Christ-like leader, and his influence will be carried on for many years to come. Bro. Jim, your student body loves you very much.
Unsung Heroes TributeOver the years Southeastern has relied Rob Correaon numerous men and women whowork in the background to aid us inmany, many ways. This year The Douloswould like to pay tribute to those whohelp us without recognition. Space willnot allow us to mention them all. Wechoose these as representatives to allof these “unsung heroes.” It is not unusual to go into our kitchen and see Rob Correa working side-by-side with Brother Mike Morris helping to prepare and serve meals at special events. Rob has even been known to take a week off of his regular job to help at Youth Aflame. Rob is a member of the Faith Baptist Church in Knightdale and an Optician at Knightdale Eye Care. His wife Lori who is also an Optician. Thank you Brother Rob for your countless hours of service!Steve LloydA few years ago Steve Lloyd contacted our offices to see if weneeded any printers. Since then, Steve’s company, ConfidenceWeb Solutions, have donated numerous rebuilt printers for ouruse and supplied toner at a tremendous discount. After their 2006 graduation from Southeastern, Steve and hiswife Amy, moved to Madison, Wisconsin to assist Steve’s father, church planter Carlie. They are still in that ministry with their 5children. Thank you, Brother Steve, for your generosity and yourlove and support for your Alma Mater. White Oak Hill LadiesFor a number of years, the ladies of the White Oak Hill Free Will Baptist Church of Bailey, NChave baked delicious cakes for our arriving freshmen and their parents at our welcomingbanquet. Below is a picture of some of these ladies who came to serve these goodies acouple of years ago along with a couple of men including then Pastor Reuben Cason. Thispast year we changed our schedule and do not need their help to serve -- but they still sendthe cakes!! Thank you, White Oak Hill ladies for your years of service to make our freshmenfeel welcome. W2h0er1e7 DHeouLleoasds 2-3

The arrival of the freshmen is always a time filled with a flood of emotions. Theseemotions include the excitement of new possibilities and the fear of the unknownfuture. Although this fear may be present, it is lessened by the God-given peace thatonly comes from being in the center of God’s perfect will. Before the start of the new school year in August, students in leadership positions partake in a Christ-based leadership training retreat in New York City, NY. During their 4 day stay, students attend multiple leadership training sessions and partake in diverse exercises and games within the city that promote the development of teamwork and leadership skills. Students are also allowed some free time to participate in many activities that can only be found in NYC. The activities include Broadway shows, sightseeing, delicious food, and endless shopping. This trip offers a unique experience for students to gain personal leadership knowledge and grow stronger in their friendships with each other. What’s New? W2h0er1e7 DHeouLleoasds 16-17

ChSreirsvtiicaen As a part of life at Southeastern, students are required to participate weekly in a ministry at a local church. Students hold a variety of positions at these local ministries that include Sunday school teachers, youth pastors, children’s church workers, church musicians, and nursery. After being asked about the importance of the Christian Service program, many students responded with an attitude of immense appreciation. These students claimed that the Christian Service requirements help prepare them for future ministry opportunities. Forestdale Free Will Baptist Church Birmingham, AL 205-798-1724 Pastor Mike Cox

FWMeloilsrosliwdosnhip Officers Seated: Vice President Bobby Berry, President Austen Eaton, Secretaries Kimberlin Honeycutt and Natalie CrumplerWorld Missions Fellowship has been such a blessing for me not only to talk with different missionaries and mission works, but also to show my fellowstudents the varieties of the mission umbrella. The past year, students were able to hear from home and international church planters, internationalchildren’s home parents, international medical missionaries, and an English language institute for closed countries. We, as students, learn to be pluggedin with missionaries and to pray for specific needs in the Lord’s work all across the globe. My prayer is that this Fellowship of like-minded believers willstrike a fire in the hearts of our students to carry the gospel to the uttermost parts of the world.
