THE PRESIDENT’S REPORT Firstly I would like to thank all of our supporters, members, Sponsors and Life members for another year at a great club. I want to pay particular mention to my wife and family, who know I love my time being at the club, and some of them may say too much time! But I will deal with that another time. The year overall was challenging on a number of fronts, with the change to a new league following the demise of the SEFNL, meaning it was a year of unknown and unforeseen challenges. However we take a lot of learnings from it and that will create a very solid recovery plan now on what we know about both the league and opposition teams. (Home games etc). On a football front, overall we achieved where we thought we were realistically, however we had opportunities and missed in some areas that need improvement both on field and off field. Some key areas remain challenging - Club Functions were a challenge Major raffle tickets and fund raiser events From a playing group, the teams finished high on the ladders with all 3 of our Outer East teams playing finals and the Women’s team narrowly missing out, however numbers were fantastic and the year really saw the female team embrace the club to become one united group which was great. The 1999 premiership reunion was excellent with terrific numbers in attendance and was well supported which was a highlight for the year. Our coaching group have now changed and I want to thank them for the efforts, support and the development of our playing group. I also want to welcome Mick Fogarty and the new coaching panel to Beacy and we wish them all the best for the 2020 season ahead with the teams about to start preseason in coming weeks The junior executive and general committee were an absolute fantastic team this year, evolving throughout the season, and lead by a team of committed and professional volunteers which has put the Junior club into a strong position, with excellent numbers and all key roles being filled at the recent AGM. The Sporting Club (Board) have been fantastic this year with some big changes. They have confronted their challenges head on and the great team environment is now evident and it shows in the results now being delivered. I want to thank Michael , DVL and Nicole for their exceptional work, which is also being supported with great advice from Hugh Matthews. I want to pay particular mention to the volunteers who, day in, day out, work hard to make the club a great club and we have a brilliant team of volunteers. With more joining the team, it will ease the workload of many and help integrate more volunteers and drive new ideas and change. The executive have worked hard behind the scenes to drive and understand our challenges and have worked together exceptionally well considering the dynamics and changing landscape. It helps build healthy robust discussions ensuring we remain on track as a people club. 2020 will see changes and we need to consistently understand 2 key elements and manage to them - Our Club DNA (Don’t forget who we are and what we stand for ) - Embrace change and opportunity to make us better year on year, and become the club of choice. I look forward to the new volunteer’s joining and embracing the roles they take on which will help drive our future for more generations to come. Our executive will remain strong and resilient and continue to drive direction strategy and commercially sustainable returns to the club allowing investment and growth of infrastructure and required equipment. I look forward to representing our club, our culture and our journey into 2020 with the support of our members, sponsors and the Beaconsfield community. Troy Robinson, President Beaconsfield FC
THE SECRETARY’S REPORT As this was my first year as secretary it was an eye opener to the challenges and experiences we encountered throughout the year. I have enjoyed getting to know everyone in the club, and making new friends along the way. I would like to thank Troy, and the committee, and the supporters of the Beaconsfield Football Club for assisting me with my role as secretary. This year we hosted several preseason practice games, including a night game which was a great success, two Richmond VFL games, our 8 home games, hosting the SEWF finals and also hosting Outer East Div. 1 Semi Finals and Qualifying finals. This would not have been possible without the dedication of our hard-working volunteers. It will be great to see more people and new faces getting involved at the club in 2020, and creating that family environment. I’d also like to welcome all the new people that will be stepping up to the committee and all volunteer roles and I wish the club every success for the future. I look forward to assisting everyone along the way in 2020. In what was possibly the youngest reserves group to represent the club in Reserves football, the side continued to develop and improve as the season went on, just running out of legs and composure in the Preliminary final. Throughout the season the group continued to place pressure on the senior 22, with many of the side being rewarded with senior football during the year. Overall a great year from such a young group of players, which I enjoyed immensely. Over the season, myself and the playing group had great support from our Assistant Coach Scott Kerr, Team Manager Shane Boland, our runners Ryan Hamilton & Brett Smith and the club’s training staff. thanks to all. COACH: Luke Young
U18’S REPORT What a year! What an outstanding group of young men I had the pleasure to coach this season. It was a mixed bag of players, some from the under 19’s from the previous season, some from a winning grand final under 17’s team and some from a losing under 17’s grand final team! To bring these players together and to get them to buy into a game plan and then execute the game plan is a credit to the boys. The end result of all this hard work was the opportunity to play off in a grand final. As much as we did not win that particular final, it was still an outstanding season. I would like to thank all the boys for buying in and playing their role. I would like to thank the leader ship group in Benny G, Willow, Mop , Krowl, Booey, Coop and Georgie, I hope you all got something out of it. To my assistant coach Brett Gneil, thanks for all your support and looking after our forwards on game day. I could not have asked for a better assistant. Mark Hornstra as runner. Mark Redhead as our team manager. The trainers for all their support in particular Nads, Mads, Wardy and Connor. To Geoff, Charlie, Dave and Scotty for getting the boys drinks, snakes and fruit on game day. Troy for his continued support of me throughout the season and finally my wife, Tania, for allowing me to follow my passion. COACH: Darren Hamilton
SENIOR WOMEN’S REPORT The year started slowly for the senior women with some player turn over due to opportunities at higher levels and not having a coach initally appointed. However that was only a small challenge for the team to overcome. We were excited about the new recruits plus the number of first year footballers that joined our club plus a coach that wanted to grow the game for our footballers. Their commitment, endeavor and enthusiasm showed we would be a team to challenge this year on a number of fronts. The season kicked off with our women’s in the premier competition and we were clearly out of our range and were struggling to compete, however the skills and attitude in this period showed we had what it takes to be a great team of footballers The team were given the opportunity to drop a division and from there the season unfolded where the team main- tained confidence and the opportunity to play at a level standard. As the year went along we showed grit & determination and won a number of games along the way resulting in us just missing finals by ½ a game. The clear standout for the season was the attitude, club buy in and the great nature of every player to want to play footy and be part of the club. Our football for females is in a far better position and we will start to see our junior girls filter through due to the great pathway we have in place at Beaconsfield. 2020 will be a year where we become stronger, COACH: Troy Robinson
RIP - GARRY MANNING Beaconsfield Football Club sadly lost one of our club greats with the passing of Garry (Shakey) Manning early in the 2019 season. Garry’s lifetime dedication to Beaconsfield was recognized with the inauguration of the Garry “Shakey” Manning Memorial Shield for Best Clubperson to be presented annually. NETBALL PRESIDENTS REPORT It was an exciting time as we started the season in a brand new league, we managed to get 8 out of 10 teams into the finals, 6 making it to Prelim and bought home two premierships. Huge congratulations to coach John Ioane and his extended B Grade Team for winning the Grand Final (finally John, you’re the bride and not the bridesmaid) And also to Kirstie Spooner and her U15 White team, awesome effort on your first coaching gig with us Kirstie. Congratulations to you and your team. Going into a new league bought with it some challenges in the form of fixturing and travel times etc. a huge well done to all at the club for representing BNC in the best way… I had many, many compliments about how friendly and welcoming our club is! Thank you especially to our junior parents, it was sometimes tricky with a fluid fixture that kept changing right up until mid-way through the season and you all just went with it, with a minimum and fuss and always with that proud Beacy passion! I also wanted to acknowledge our hard working coaches, aided by their Team Mgrs for all of the hard work and dedication you show to our club and players each week. It’s a tough job to manage the expectations of your team, the club and supporters and we definitely appreciate your efforts…You all volunteer your time to ensure our players reach their potential and possibly, most importantly enjoy playing netball at our club. To our players, well done on your achievements this season. You have all worked hard to get the best out of yourselves and have represented your club in the best possible way and we are extremely proud of you. To our Sponsors, Supporters, magnificent Life Members and all of our families thank you, your ongoing support and encouragement each week is greatly appreciated and one of the keystones to our success. I also wanted to say Thank you for the continued support of our friends at Beaconsfield Football Club. We continue to strive to represent Beaconsfield as one club and maintaining a strong relationship with our Football Club is just one facet. We look forward to cementing the bond as one club as we go forward. In closing…We have a really hard working committee who without, we would not have the awesome club we have now. Most people would not realise the amount of time and effort THAT goes into making all of this happen but thank you all so much for volunteering your time and effort this season. In closing 2019 has been both eventful and exciting, we now look forward to another cracker season in 2020! See you all next season GO BEACY!!! Valerie Edge, President Beaconsfield Netball Club
A GRADE NETBALL REPORT What a year! With some pretty big changes to the A grade side, and a new style of play, our season started off perfectly with an incredible win over Cranbourne . With injury and VNL clashes, our side was different almost every week until half way through the season when we suffered our first loss against Olinda. It’s a real credit to this extremely talented bunch of players that we could defeat all but 1 side this year with a constantly rotating roster of players. The team though bounced back from the defeat to continue to win all but 3 games for the fixture season – our second loss against Olinda in snow like conditions, which was also my proudest moment as a coach, the girls displaying their best netball of the year in that game. However, finals were a different challenge and although we had a terrific win against Cranbourne in the first week, a competitive loss to Olinda in the second, we sadly lost momentum in the final quarter of our semi-final against Cranbourne, and didn’t get that last shot at defeating Olinda. There is no doubt though that we have an exciting group of senior players at our club and an A grade premiership is within our grasps, just some further fine tuning to be done in executing our strategic game. I have loved every minute with this team and am so proud of their progress, personal and team achievements, and most importantly the sisterhood that they have on and off the court. Thank you to our amazing Team Manager, Tracey for all her of support this year, to all of the Partners (especially Dave), Parents and club members that have stayed to support us all year. Coach: Kelly Wilson (A Grade coach)
B GRADE NETBALL REPORT Our season kicked off in the newly formed Outer East Football Netball League with a win and ended with the most amazing victory with the team securing the B Grade Outer East Premiership. The girls took on this season with great excitement, with the competition providing fresh challenges – new teams, new playing styles, and new locations and courts to become familiar with. The hospitality shown by our new hosts, along with the clubs more familiar to Beaconsfield were greatly appreciated and is just one of the unique features that makes ‘footy-netball’ so special We were challenged early losing key team members to season-ending injuries. Our mid-court stocks were depleted and meant a rethink to our setup and calling upon our Junior and C Grade teams to help fill gaps. Despite the setbacks, we remained united and continued to form great bonds, along with developing new skills and implementing new tactics in game play to ensure we remained a competitive force in the competition. Our playing roster extended to 14, with additional team members succumbing to injuries, and availability during finals having an impact on our team’s make up. We ended the home and away season with 13 victories and taking a win over every other side, building great confidence as we headed into the finals series. The Beaconsfield Eagles rode a rollercoaster of highs and lows during our finals, with a convincing win, a loss and a single goal victory taking us to a Grand Final meeting with Olinda – the season’s benchmark team. From the Grand Final’s first whistle, the Beacy girls meant business. Every play, every pass and every lead was done with intent and great understanding amongst our players. Each quarter the Eagles showed dominance stretching out the lead at every break. The momentum never dipped, and the girls shut the Bloods out of the competition. The hard work, commitment and expert execution paid off with the girls securing a 15-goal victory to claim the honours. In a season of big change – these girls have shown what it takes to become champions. To my girls – a truly amazing group of netballers, you were receptive to our vision for the season, and were committed to bringing your best. What you have achieved is something truly special – something I hope you remember for many years to come. Thank you to Valerie Edge, our team manager for keeping us on track, and our families for your unrelenting support throughout the season. A big shout out to our committee, player group and community that is Beaconsfield Netball Club. Your support at the Grand Final and across the season was spectacular. Bessie, Kel, Zara, Em, Hannah, Eb, Char, Bec, Millie, Maddie, Jaimee, Chelsea, Hannah L and our captain Ciz – I’m so proud of you all and the season we’ve had together. Congratulations on becoming the first-ever Outer East B Grade Premiers. John Ioane (B Grade Coach)
C GRADE NETBALL TEAM D GRADE NETBALL REPORT
D GRADE NETBALL REPORT cont’d This Season has had it ups and downs but for most part it’s been a successful season. We had a shakey start losing our first game to Cranbourne and at this stage we were still looking for a defender to fill the GK spot. We were lucky enough to have that spot filled by Sarah Raja. Our team was now complete. We had our other defender T leave on a trip for 5 weeks, in stepped our champion under 17 defender Jemima who slotted into the position with ease and smashed it every week. Our team went from strength to strength dominating the home and away round with some massive wins. These girls were playing as a cohesive unit in attack and defence. We finished the home and away rounds 2nd on the ladder. Unfortunately we didn’t have a great finals series losing our prelim to Cranbourne in awful conditions. I am so proud of these girls and their development over the season has been outstanding. I have loved every minute of coaching them. I wish them all the best for season 2020 Coach: Chelsea Maher U/15 BLUE NETBALL REPORT It has been a fantastic year coaching the Under 15 Blue’s team for the 2019 season. Throughout the season the team worked hard at training, enjoyed playing together and demonstrated resilience against tough opposition. We enjoyed playing the chocolate game over the Easter period, team bonding at ‘Ducky in the Field’ café and sharing pizza at our final training session. Although we missed out on finals, the team were very competitive and made huge improvements that I was extremely proud of. We had one of the strongest defence ends in the league this season, with Paigelyn, Charlotte, Imogen and Charli putting lots of pressure on the opposition and causing many turnovers. Our mid-courters Abbey, Yasmin and Ella worked tirelessly to bring the ball down the court and their feeding into the goalers improved week in, week out. Our goalers Eliza, Tiarna and Ally had the challenge of learning to work in the goal ring with multiple combinations of goaling partners, and they really came together in the second half of the season to play some brilliant netball. As a team the girls impressed me with their eagerness, talent and willingness to improve, and I have no doubt that they all have a very successful netball future ahead of them, which is very exciting for the Beaconsfield Netball Club. Thank you to my captains Imogen and Abbey for being wonderful role models and always having a positive influence on the team. Thank you to Rachel Shortis who was our team scorer throughout the entire season, and finally a special thank you to my Team Manager Belinda Grist, who always supported me and helped out on game day. Thank you for a great season girls and I hope to see you all out there in Beacy colours in 2020! Coach: Claire Van Lambaart
U15’s WHITE NETBALL REPORT Our year had somewhat of a rough start after losing some players but we were able to pick up a couple of very handy netballers just in the nick of time to complete our starting line-up. The girls gelled early forming a strong team bond which would later prove to be one of their greatest assets. Our first game saw us come away with a strong win against Cranbourne giving the girls a confident start to the season. From here on in there were a couple more losses but the girls were able to win some important close games towards the end of the season to capture top spot on the ladder and remain there at seasons close. While sometimes it can ruin the teams momentum having the first week off, the psychological advantage of finishing top was definitely there. We faced Narre Warren in the Semi Final knowing if we couldn’t beat them in this game then we probably couldn’t at all, as we had lost to them both times we faced them during the season. The girls played a great game to take home the win giving us another week off until we faced Narre again in the Grand Final. There were definitely a few nerves flying around on Grand Final Day (as expected) but there was also a lot of excitement. The excitement won through at the start of the game where the Beacy girls played one of the most balanced and composed games of the season - the composure shown from 13 - 14 year old girls was so impressive! We took the lead in the game and never lost it bringing home the win by 15 goals!!! Beaconsfield 15 Whites were the Premiers for 2019 bringing home Beaconsfield Netball Clubs first Outer East Flag! I’m so glad I took this job on - I loved getting to know this gorgeous group of girls and I’m so very proud of them!! Apart from being great netballers - I believe this team’s strength lay in the strong connections the girls made with each other on a personal level and the mutual respect they had for each other. They are a great example of playing as a team rather than a team of individuals. I wish the girls much success in the future. Coach: Kirstie Spooner
U13’s BLUE NETBALL REPORT The under 13 blues had a great season, with 8 girls and Luke they all bonded really well! I was surprised with how good these Under 13s are and how much development they still have to go. Our key this year was a full court defence and the one percenters that get you across the line. With many different combinations across the court the team always gave their best, no matter what the score. Our highlight of the year was beating Pakenham by 7 goals showing they could win any game as long as they worked hard for a full game. Not being able to do this in the game against ROC was heartbreaking, knocking us out of finals. COACH: Ciara Nelson U13’s WHITE NETBALL REPORT What an enjoyable season the U13 Whites have had and being their first year all of my team have played. They all came together really well not only enjoying themselves at training but really playing as a team on the court. With a lot of hard work and determination they were successful in making the finals which was a great achievement. COACH: Ailsa Kerr

U18’sYOUTH GIRLS REPORT A challenging start to the season with limited numbers attending both pre-season & start of season training. This was also affected with some girls having TAC Cup & State duties. However Round 1 saw us get off to a great start with a 75-point win over the Frankston Dolphins. In Round 2, we suffered a 3-point loss having only been able to field twelve players. In Round 3, we were forced to forfeit with only nine players available. That was to be our last disappointment for the Home & Away season winning the next ten games, with Round 12 being the highlight - beating the undefeated Mt Eliza by 4 points. The girls managed to secure second spot on the ladder and a play off in the Grand Final against Mt Eliza. This would be our biggest challenge of the year. After winning the toss, Mt Eliza kicked with a 3-4 goal wind advantage. The message to the girls was pressure, pressure, pressure...and they were ferocious at the footy going into quarter time trailing by only 1 point. We took our opportunities in the second quarter taking the lead at half time 19-8. However, as Mt Eliza had done all year, they fought back hard and took the lead in the 3rd quarter and went into the last break with a lead of 4 points. The girls hit another gear in the last quarter kicking three goals and two behinds to run out winners by 14 points and claim their 7th consecutive Grand Final win. Well done girls! COACH: Matt Gee U17’s WHITE BOYS REPORT At the start of the year Brendan and I decided we would focus on the lads enjoying their footy and whatever result we got we would continue with that philosophy. The season started off with us in Premier B of a new league, only for us to lose the first 4 games and be relegated to Premier C. After this time the lads played some very good football, gained some confidence and ended up winning 7 of 10 games. The style of football we played was maintaining possession as much as we could and knowing how and when to change lanes. By the end of the year, the lads were executing this very well and I believe we should have made finals and even made the Grand Final. The positive for the year was that we continued to have good numbers at training and the bond the lads had was very tight. They are all a great bunch of mates, which is really important as people moving forward in life. The mix between the bottom and top ages really worked for us as this helped the younger ones grow and everyone was treated as an equal. Thanks to my staff in Brendan Pryor (Assistant Coach), Kim Preece (Team Manager), Michael Van Den Berghe and Neil Busacca (Runners) and Rene DePrinse (Trainer). Thanks also to an awesome parent group that supported all the lads at every game and also supported me and my staff. Thanks for an enjoyable year. COACH: Matt Riordan U17’s BLUE BOYS REPORT In 2019 we had a group of boys where we had top age and bottom age come together. We entered the new Top Age AFL South East competition, which saw us facing mostly new and formidable opponents every week. We worked on developing a strong team culture and worked hard on our structures. We adjusted our game plan throughout the year to try and match the top team and the boys adapted brilliantly. Skills were improving each week; game plans were followed and structures implemented. We struggled getting around the bigger bodies of the other teams in the new league, but we used our own strengths to make the Grand Final and take it right up to Mount Eliza by forcing them into overtime and going down by only a point. I’d like to thank the leadership group - Lachlan Chisholm (C), Sam Mackinder (VC) and Bailey Collard (DVC). To my Assistant Coach (Roey), Team Manager (Zoe), Trainer (Lauren), Runner (Tony), Mids Coach (Rob), Match Day Manager (Paul), scorekeepers (Goicoa family), fruit (Brown family), lollies (Collard family), end of year gifts (Michelle Matson) and the top water carrier in the league (Chase) – thank you everyone! Your assistance has been invaluable. To all the families, thanks for being there and supporting us all the way. Good luck to all the top age boys entering the Senior system and I look forward to seeing the rest of you around the Club. COACH: Matt Edwards
U16’s GIRLS REPORT The 2019 season for the U16 Youth Girls was nothing short of SENSATIONAL! An awesome team effort to be crowned this year’s PREMIERS! This year we welcomed some new faces to the Club which was great to see and I hope these girls and their families really enjoyed their first season of footy at Beacy. At every training session you could see how much the girls were improving and how they were taking what they had learnt on the training track out onto the field on game day. Every week you played fair but hard, even when required to play for the opposition team. Always displaying great respect and sportsmanship. Girls, it has been an absolute pleasure to coach you this year. Thank you for all your hard work. I wish the girls that are going up into the U18’s all the best next season and the girls remaining in the U16’s, another successful season. Keep listening to your coaches and trying new stuff on the track and on game day. I would like to thank Paul, Mark, Steve and Jenny for all their support and hard work throughout the year. You guys have been sensational! I would also like to thank all our parents, grandparents, siblings and everyone who helped out with game day roles, your support is greatly appreciated. Girls you will forever be Premiership Players! COACH: Glen Davies U15’s BLUE REPORT I was given the U/15’s who were the reigning Premiers. They are a talented side but I was very impressed from our first meeting with how respectful the player group are, which is a credit to their parents, and the Club. We were able to fill most voluntary rolls very early, prior to a fun and very good pre-season, including a day down at Phillip Island. From that we were able to build on their very strong work ethic, their game knowledge, fitness and team bond. Our season had a few ups and downs with injuries. Having key players sidelined at the same time was a challenge, but from all challenges comes opportunity. The opportunity for a lot of players to play in different rolls and positions. This provided us with a much more rounded team. We finished the home and away season in fourth position, giving us the opportunity to play finals. Our first final was against NarreWarren Foxes, who we had lost to during the year. The boys showed the true desire to win and won well by 13 goals. Our Preliminary Final was against Berwick Springs which we won in a heart stopper with the last kick of the day. This got us into the Grand Final against Berwick, who had been undefeated through the year. We were even at the final siren, taking us into a tie breaker and after the 2 five - minute halves we were defeated by one point in an amazing game. Great effort boys! Coach: PeterBrough U14’s GOLD REPORT U14 Gold had a successful season finishing runner up in the Grand Final to Narre Warren South Lions. The boys had a consistent year overall and were 3rd at the end of the Home and Away season. We won our 1st Semi-final defeating Berwick Springs and moved on to the Preliminary Final against Berwick. The game against Berwick was an exceptional performance to get the better of Berwick by 4 points. We had not been able to beat Berwick all through the Home and Away season. We then moved on to the Grand Final at our home ground Holm Park. We started the game very well and had an 18-point lead at half time. Unfortunately, our opposition was too strong in the second half and overcame us to win by 14 points. Our squad of 24 boys all participated with great commitment throughout the year whether at training or on game day. There are some very talented boys in the group who have a great future ahead of them in the club. Special thanks to Lori De La Rue our Team Manager, who did a fantastic job in organising everything throughout the year. Our Assistant Coach Jamie Moore, and our Runners Ricky Negro and Gordon Topalovic also did a fantastic job supporting myself, the team and dealing with the boys very well. I also would like to thank all the parents and volunteers for offering their support to the team and coaching staff in many different roles. COACH: Glenn Cross
U14’s GIRLS REPORT We were very fortunate to have a wonderful group of families who filled all key voluntary positions before Christmas. This allowed us to start the pre-season in early February and focus on developing our U14 Girls with playing experience at our club, and 2 first year players. It was evident from the start we had a very talented and dedicated group of footballers. All throughout the season we regularly had great numbers at training sessions, which helped the girls form strong bonds on and off the field. During the Home & Away Season our girls were brilliant, regularly rotating positions and game time which helped us develop all players’ skills and game sense in a variety of positions. I am extremely proud of how even our playing group was, with most players awarded votes, and the majority earned a Best on Ground Award. At the end of the Home and Away Season we had lost only one game to finish on top of the ladder. The first week of the Finals saw us play Berwick FC. In what was a very tight and physical game our girls won by 2 points to earn a week off and a place in the Grand Final. In the Grand Final we played an excellent Narre North Foxes team who started strongly and took the lead early. Unfortunately, despite our girls’ enormous efforts and bravery we weren’t able to close the deficit and were beaten by a better side on the day. COACH: Dan Bettess U13’s GOLD REPORT What a challenging season the U13 Gold team had in 2019, with most players returning from the previous season and we welcomed the addition of five new players. The team learnt that in U13’s you need the whole team to play well to win, not just a few players. Some players found the Division 1 competition really tough and I hope it has not put some boys off continuing their footy next year at the Beaconsfield Junior Footy Club. The team continued developing their skills, teamwork and work rate at every training session. From the fun-times had on wet and cold training nights under lights to the highs of winning and the lows of losing during the season, the group stuck together. The commitment shown by each player was encouraging and Dave and myself were very proud to be their coaches. This footy season wouldn’t have been made possible without the dedication and commitment from the group of parents that helped at training every Monday and Friday night and on game days. I would like to give a special thanks to Dave Setches (Assistant Coach) for taking over as Head Coach for 2 games during the season, you did a stellar job coaching and your continued support is very much appreciated. Special thanks to Andrew Williams who helped out as an Assistant Coach while I was away, Ben De La Rue and Ben Airdrie (Runners), Donna Swan and Nicole Cahill (Trainers) and Di Magri (OUR AWESOME Team Manager). I would like to thank the BJFC for the opportunity to coach the U13 Gold team this season. A big thank you to all the parents for your support, feedback and positivity during the season. COACH: Shane Burgmann U13’s WHITE REPORT Reflecting back on the year I can hand on heart say this was my most enjoyable year I have had with this group of boys. From day 1 at training when I welcomed the boys with a 2km trial I knew we had a great group of young men who not only loved their footy but were also happy to put in the hard work to develop and get the best out of themselves. Muddy and myself really did step up the work load this year and tried to get the boys outside of their comfort levels with some pretty intense training sessions. To the boys’ credit they accepted the challenge head on and were rewarded with a finals appearance. Well done guys this really was an amazing effort. Can we go a couple of steps further next year? If we keep improving at the same rate- absolutely we can! I would like to say a big thanks to Muddy for everything you contributed to the group this year and really hope we can continue working with this special group of boys in the future. To Belinda Moresco, you honestly made mine and Muddy’s job so much easier and if you’re not the best Team Manager out there you’re definitely in the final. A big thanks to Vicki, Trash and John for putting their hands up for First Aid duties again and to Steve for running all those messages out to the guys. Finally, I would like to thank all the dads who helped out at training during the year and in general all the parents who made Muddy’s and my job so very easy. I can honestly say every boy on our list has been a pleasure to coach. Keep handling those footys guys and see you all next year. COACH: Winno
U12’s GOLD REPORT Well to say it was a great year would be an understatement. We started preseason training out at Pakenham, lost some old players and welcomed a couple of new faces into our team. We thought with natural improvement that we could take the next step from the year before, but the early training wasn’t great. Phil and I had a plan which was to build the kids fitness by a lot of skill and drill work with the footys as much as we possibly could, making it more enjoyable for them. The season began and we got off to a very good start winning comfortably in our early games but knowing we had some hard games to come, including Berwick and our other very good Beacy side.We were undefeated after we had played everyone once, with a couple of close encounters that saw the kids really grow in confidence knowing they could beat some very good teams. We then went through the Home &Way season undefeated and the kids went into finals with a lot of confidence. After winning our first final we got to sit back and watch 2 very good sides in Beacy Blue v Berwick with our Beacy side winning through to play us.What an achievement from a club to have two Div. 1 sides playing off in a G/Final.The kids played their hearts out on the day in a very low scoring game. They battled all day to come away with a very deserving win for all their hard work through the season. As coaches, Phil and I are so proud of these kids. The way they conduct themselves on and off the field is unbelievable and that shows in their football.“PREMIERS & CHAMPIONS”. Well done and thank you to everyone who supported us throughout the year, we appreciate it. COACH: Foxy U12’s WHITE REPORT Fantastic season for the U12 White team. We had a couple of new additions to the team from last season and we started training down in Pakenham. The new boys fitted in extremely well and were welcomed by all. We had a couple of new game plans that the boys took to quickly and we trained hard. There were a couple of fun training sessions at the local gym, P3 and at Perc Allison with a personal trainer. Overall, we had a very successful season, losing only two games and winning the Grand Final. This wouldn’t have been possible without all the parent helpers involved in this team. A huge thank you to all involved. Congratulations to everyone involved in this team and I wish you all the best going forward. COACH: Andrew Baillie U12’s BLUE REPORT Firstly, I would just like to thank the football club for giving me the opportunity to coach this team. They are a great bunch of kids and were a pleasure to coach. Our season started back in February where we were training 2 nights a week. Our pre- season was about getting fit and working as a team. There was a lot of team bonding sessions with a lot of fun involved. Before we knew it, the season had started and the kids enjoyed playing competitive football again. We did well throughout the season only losing three games heading into the finals. We managed to make it to the Grand Final but unfortunately, we fell short by 5 points to the other Beaconsfield side. It was a great game to watch and was played in great spirit. In my eyes the year was a success. I saw the boys push themselves to be better football players, form a great team bond and respond to the challenges that they were given. All in all, we had a fun season playing the great game of Australian Rules Football. COACH: Mark Craig U12’s GIRLS REPORT Season 2019 was an absolutely amazing year for our U12 Girls! With only a couple of girls having played football before we had an exciting challenge ahead of us. The girls all worked together training in the pre-season heat and each week helping to improve each other’s skills. Coming into the season the girls absolutely smashed it, only losing a couple of games. The teamwork was above and beyond every week, ensuring each player had a fair turn and got their chance to kick a goal as well as the personal goals we set at the start of the season. With their amazing effort, the girls secured themselves a spot in the Grand Final. Knowing we had a tough game ahead of us, the girls gave it their all. Unfortunately, we didn’t come away with the win but every single one of us couldn’t be more proud of the girls and everything they achieved throughout the season, especially considering it was the first season of footy for the majority of the team. How could you not be proud? We are extremely thankful for all the parents, committee members and the amazing team we had behind us with the U12 Girls and looking forwards to the 2020 season ahead! COACH: Courtney Robinson
U11’s BLUE REPORT This season was up and down for us. We started with a severe broken arm at our first training session that put Hayden out for the entire season, apart from one game, which was a shame because he had been training really hard and was looking really good. Game one against Berwick, we had a good win and everyone was up and about. We then lost 4-5 in a row as the boys struggled to deal with the size of the full grounds and the pace that the games were played at. The group had to reset so we had a meeting to reinforce the game plans and team rules that we had learned over the pre-season. I addressed the fact that there were way too many players who had the ability to play the game at a good standard, but were just leaving the hard work up to a handful of our consistent good performing players. We went on to win 4 out of our next 5 games and looked to be back on track with a much more even contribution across the playing group. We beat Pakenham who finished runners up, and were on a 5 game winning streak at the time. We were beaten by Officer the second time we played them by 4 points, which was disappointing considering we had a goal overturned with 2 minutes left in the game that would have put us up by 2. Again, it showed when we were switched on and played as a team, we could more than match it with the top teams. We completely dominated Cranbourne at home in the second last round by 65 points with our first 4 quarter performance of the season. Some of the lesser skilled players really stepped up and had a crack. Top performers for the season were Oscar Cockle who was very consistent all year, and through his determination and grit in many games proved he’ll be hard to stop in the future. Noah Kilpatrick was often the player whom we relied on for hardness and clearance around the contest and often got us back into games with an individual spark. Fletcher Pittard’s last 7 games were as good as we had seen from anyone all season and I believe he’s one of the most naturally skilled footy players at this age group. I believe we will improve as a team next season. We have the mix in this group to challenge the top teams. I also had great support from my Assistant Tim, Team Manager Amber and Runner Matt. Looking forward to next season already. Thank you to the committee for all your support especially Matt Edwards, Scott Hilton and Paul Matson. COACH: Luke Young U11’s WHITE REPORT The season started off great with all the players from last year returning and one new player to make a full team. All the boys were excited as this year was “real” footy with scores, umpires, finals and a ladder. Our coaching team was finalized early, and preseason training got going with smiles all round. The team played well all year improving their skills, team play and game sense and all enjoyed playing various positions. It was a successful season winning all but two games with some good competition and close games. We entered the finals in top spot and went on to become the premiers with a good team win. All the boys played in the right spirit, gave their best effort each week and represented the club well. As always, I enjoyed my season thoroughly and looked forward to training nights and game days. I would like to thank the coaching team, parents and the players for a great year and thank them for the support and encouragement throughout the season and hope all return in 2020. COACH: Johnny U11’s GOLD REPORT Well this will certainly be a season I will remember for a long time to come! Finally having the ability to win games, watch a scoreboard, and keep track on a ladder was really exciting for me, and I’m sure for the kids as well! We had a few changes to our team from last year with a couple of boys moving out of the area, a few new kids joining in, and unfortunately, we lost Cooper Heinze for most of the year due to illness. We started the year in Division Two, and after a pretty good first month, we were presented with the challenge of moving into Division One. After a narrow win against Beacy Blue, we had a couple of reality checks with big losses to Pakenham & Foxes, and another loss against Officer in what was a tough month of football. From this point onwards, to the kids credit they knuckled down, worked hard, and began to really grow as a team, and we started to see some really great results. Losing our first final was hard, but to know we finished our season leading the eventual premier & other grand finalist at ¾ time in our last two games, shows that we really were not too far away. I’d like to thank all our awesome volunteers for our team, Steve as Assistant Coach, John & Anthony as our Medics and Belinda as our ever reliable Team Manager. To everyone else who helped throughout the season, thanks for being part of our team! Lastly, thank you to my 24 little mates that make the job as fun and as rewarding as it is! COACH: Dean Ziesler
U10’s BLUE REPORT What a great year we’ve had. The boy’s development and enthusiasm this year has yet again been outstanding. Our training from the start of the season to the end of the season progressed very well. I challenged the boys with different training drills and they stepped up and gave their all. They have grown in maturity as well - warming up at training and on game day independently as a team, taking it in turns in leading the group. On game day the boys would share the captain role. They all showed excellent leadership skills and encouragement to all teammates. They were respectful not only to all coaching staff and trainers but towards the opposition and umpires as well. They should be extremely proud of the season as myself and Matt are of them. I wish them all the best of luck for their future seasons. COACH: Trev Rooke U9’s BLUE REPORT Season 2019 for Under 9 Blue was another great season of enjoyment for everyone involved. The boys and their parents are a pleasure to be involved with and they should all be extremely proud. The main goal is that they continually improve through each season while enjoying themselves and I can certainly say that all players showed significant progress from last season. I would like to congratulate our 4 new players and their families for a great season and fitting in easily to the team. I would like to thank all parents for their help and support each week which is greatly appreciated. I thank Kane Airdrie for his role as Assistant Coach, his footy experience and relationships with the players was invaluable. Cameron Young as Team Manager has been amazing for the past two seasons. It’s certainly not an easy job and he made sure everything ran smoothly from day one. Much appreciated mate. Our Trainers Patty James and Peter Walker, I thank you for your great work and giving up your time to assist. Matt Tiberi our Goal Umpire I again thank you and all parents for their great work with the weekly time keeper, snakes and oranges. And finally to the players, I hope you have enjoyed the season as much as I have and I hope you all continue together on your football journey as you are a fantastic team of footballers and young men. COACH: Daniel Mislicki U9’s GOLD REPORT A huge year from the team! Our second year of playing footy together really saw the boys bond and build some great friendships that will be cherished for many years to come. Skills improved dramatically and we were able to introduce some basic game plans on match day. Training was expanded and the team experienced some fun yet challenging drills. We have some very talented natural footballers who will be successful in their footballing endeavours and ambitions to play AFL and we look forward to seeing their development over the coming years. We have some courageous players who will always attack the ball. We have some players who will give 100% effort every week. Most of all, every single player contributed to our team success and they should be commended for their efforts. Being athletic, physically gifted and talented, plays a big part in success. But not everybody is mentally tough or excels at the emotional parts of playing sports. It is important that our coaches and supporters continue to encourage our boys to build resilience. Resilience can be an integral tool in sport and life in general. A massive thank you to Kelly Ryan, Sarah Dyce, Andrew Dyce and all our helpers throughout the year. Our kids are very lucky to have such wonderful support and encouragement. Best wishes to the incoming coaches. COACH: Kevin Mottau
U8’s BLUE REPORT What a fantastic season for the Under 8 Blue team! This was the first season for our team and what a season it was. Our team has demonstrated a great amount of skill and the teamwork has improved paramount, all whilst having a whole lot of fun. I am so privileged to have coached these boys and it’s such a thrill watching their passion for the game. As coach, my role was made a whole lot easier by the wonderful parent group we have. Thank you to all of the parents for your help during the season, at training and on game day. A big thank you to our Assistant Coach James, Team Manager Brett, First Aid Officer Mark, and Match Day Manager Brendan. It has been an absolute pleas- ure coaching this group of boys and getting to know all of the families. I am already excited about next year! COACH: Leigh Andrews U8’s GOLD REPORT What a year 2019 was for the U/8 Gold Team! In April there were 16 players brought together for their first competitive season with a love for playing football. By the end of the season they were a team which played for each other. The goals of the coaching staff for the year were to teach and reinforce the basics of the game, to which the players learned well and built on game by game during the season. Displaying these attributes and improving every week, the team put together some extremely impressive performances, which culminated in the team only losing 2 games for the season. U/8 football is not about winning and losing but playing as a team and bringing your teammates into the game to have fun. This was highlighted by the fact that every player in the team kicked a goal this season, and in one game alone we had 12 individual goal kickers! I am extremely proud to have been the Coach of these players this year and must thank the players for listening and giving it their best at training and in the game every week. I must also acknowledge and thank Assistant Coach Craig, Team Managers Glen and Lauren, First Aider Rachel and all the parents who helped during the year at training and on game day. Your support was immeasurable. Go Beacy and hope to see you all back in the 2020 season!
