Has the Youth Work Outcome been Meet? Youth Work Outcome:SR C 2 - 1 community safety initiative implemented Reduction in number of crime and antisocial behaviour incidents in the areas where the young people live. Research on Bonfire Culture and Community Impacts and the dangers to young people engaging in this activity were discussed many times throughout the project. We were unable to line up an interview with Fire Service due to Covid19 restrictions and a Basic First Aid was also originally supposed to take place. However, it is clear to see in the film and evidence how the young people were able to reflect and show an understanding and the importance of community safety. The fact that the Bonfire in Galliagh took place with no reported incidents is testament to this. This film will be utilised as an educational tool to highlight the importance of community safety and personal safety in regard, to Bonfire activity. Summary of outcome evidence Page| 54
Version 4.0 Youth Work Outcome:ER6 – YP aged 14+ receive non-specific training Reduction in the number of young people engaging in risk taking behaviours. In this project we engaged 10 at risk young people who aged 14-18 who have been involved in Bonfire activity. This intervention allowed the young people to reflect on their behaviour but also project their understanding whilst developing a new skill set. Even though Covid19 restrictions hampered our engagement the young people actively participated, developed responsibility and ownership and successfully co created a film that reflects their views. None of the young people who engaged in our project were involved in any of the Bonfire activities this year. Summary of outcome evidence Youth Work Outcome:SRH4 Increase in the % of young people who think favourably about young people in the other community. (demonstrated by their ability to talk openly with others about their sense of identity, Culture and traditions) We are creating surveys to coincide with the viewing of the Flames of Passion Voice Of our Youth 2020. The showcasing of this film and the envisaged youth discussion formats will engage many hundreds of additional teenage beneficiaries will lead directly to reduction in crime and antisocial behaviour incidents. We are confident that through an exploration of culture, sectarianism and hate our young participants will gain a better understanding of other people’s cultures and increase the % of young people having a favourable view of other communities and people from different backgrounds.
