WORKSHOP ON KVK PORTAL AND KVK MOBILE APP 9th MARCH, 2017 Computer Building, ICAR-IASRI, New Delhi PROCEEDINGS (INTRODUCTION)A one-day Workshop on KVK Portal and KVK Mobile App was held at ICAR-IASRI, New Delhi on 9th March,2017. This workshop was organized by the Project Team on KVK Portal from IASRI and ICAR headquarters.The purpose of this workshop was to strengthen usability and accessibility of KVK Portal and KVK MobileApp among the users. OBJECTIVES I. Efficient Service Delivery of KVK Portal and Mobile App. II. Enhancement strategy for the KVK Portal and Mobile App for future development. III. Identify the drawbacks and trouble in using KVK Portal at ATARI and KVK level. IV. Encourage information sharing at country level. V. Hands on session for better understanding of KVK portal and Mobile App. VI. Presentation of KVK Mobile App.At the outset, Director, ICAR-IASRI welcomed all the participants in the workshop. After formalintroduction by all the participants, all the representatives from ATARIs/KVKs gave their feedback on KVKWeb Portal. Valuable discussions were made related to various issues and features of KVK Portal and KVKMobile App by the participants. After the feedback, in the Response to Feedback session, Dr. SudeepMarwaha emphasized on the timely uploading of quality information into the portal. He also mentionedthat a are ess about KVK Portal a d KVK Mobile App a o g far ers is ery i porta t. I a y far ers’event organized at KVK/ATARI level, it has to be made mandatory that some time must be devoted inelaborating the features of the portal and the mobile app.Recommendations by ATARIs/KVKs in the Feedback session: i) Provision may be there to upload more images under past events. However, it was clarified earlier by DDG (Extension) that for each of the past events, 2 quality images – one of on dais and another of off-dais should be uploaded by the KVK in the portal. ii) Past Events details should also appear in local language(s) if uploaded by KVKs.
iii) Data may be uploaded into KVK Portal through excel template which will be helpful for the KVKs particularly in case of MPR/AE-MPR. iv) Name of the contributor(s) of particular programme may be reflected in the MPR report. v) ATARI Bengaluru suggested that the online reporting system that they have already developed can be followed in KVK Portal also. vi) All the images uploaded under Events/Facilities are not visible; only 1 or 2 images are visible. The KVK development team asked to communicate such issues to the email id for KVK portal support. vii) Facility of image auto resizing may be provided while uploading into the portal. viii) There may be provision to upload session-wise information of the events which continue for than 1 week at KVKs. ix) There is issue of internet connectivity in some KVKs of Jharkhand under ATARI Kolkata.Recommendations by ATARIs/KVKs in Hands on Session: i) Confirmation message should come after uploading of CFLD Information by KVKs. ii) Provision for monitoring of past and future events separately at ATARI level. iii) Host organization wise report at ATARI level can be generated separately. iv) Detail report of information for each of the parameters uploaded by KVKs should be available at ATARI level. Monthly report will be beneficial for ATARIs to monitor the activities of KVKs. v) Date range can be incorporated into all types of reporting. vi) In the MPR entry form, disabling of cursor focus on the fields where text boxes are inactive. vii) Uploading, updating and deletion functionalities can be more simplified in the input form for KVK facilities. viii) In KVK Profile, employee details information regarding gender, category (SC, ST, OBC, and General etc.), and type of employment (temporary/permanent) may be incorporated. ix) Financial Information in KVK Profile should be head-wise. x) Provision for image compression facility may be there. xi) Session expiry is an issue in filling of MPR; provision for step-wise saving facility may be incorporated. xii) Images which are uploaded into the portal can be made downloadable so that images can be saved. In his remarks, DDG (Extn.) asked the KVKs to provide good quality image/video for the events to be uploaded into the portal. The portal should be an indicator of the works done by the KVKs. In future, the performance of the KVKs will be judged based upon the quality and quantity of information uploaded by the KVKs in the portal. He opined that KVK personnel cannot reach to all the farmers, however, the KVK portal has the capacity to reach each of the farmers in India. Further, he emphasized that KVK mobile app should be enriched with the information from KVKs so that it will be beneficial to 14 crores farmers of India.
