Project 2 Brief Research on Op Art ( Optical Illusions) Develop Op Artworks and set them on repeat Patch the artworks together to create new prints.

STARK CONTRAST MOVEMENT ABSTRACT TRASFORMATION OF LINES, CURVES ILLUSION OP Art Op art, short for optical art, is a style of visual art that uses optical illusions. Op art works are abstract, with many better known pieces created in black and white. Typically, they give the viewer the impression of movement, hidden images, flashing and vibrating patterns, or of swelling or warping.

Method of operation Black-and-white and the figure-ground relationship Op art is a perceptual experience related to how vision functions. It is a dynamic visual art that stems from a discordant figure-ground relationship that puts the two planes—foreground and background—in a tense and contradictory juxtaposition. Artists create op art in two primary ways. The first, best known method, is to create effects through pattern and line. Often these paintings are black and white, or shades of gray (grisaille)—as in Bridget Riley's early paintings such as Current (1964), on the cover of The Responsive Eye catalog. Bridget Riley's early paintings such as Current (1964)

Here are few images from the design process. I also began with molding clay into various geometric shape, undershoot them and then inspired from these shapes I started building my artworks. After studying op art for few days I began trying out physical handmade artworks to understand the concept of illusion and how it is created before making digital artworks.

Patching them Together Combining the Op artworks together to make a print set on repeat. Try different techniques and shapes to patch them together. Use different kind of artworks and combine them into one single print. Make them pleasing to the eye. Some thing which is busy but still creates illusion.

Project 3 Brief Out of the selected op Artworks develop a bed linen collection. Products to be included are - Euro sham, standard pillow, cushion, decorative and throw cushions, duvet cover.

Feedbacks & Changes My learning outcomes COLLECTION -1 Omit use of white decorative cushion The euro sham is good but the print used for the duvet needs to change. Look for a different op Print- Apply the duvet print of the second collection here. COLLECTION -2 Club the duvet print with other collection. Change the proportion of print on the standard pillow Don't add 3 prints in one collection COLLECTION -3 Remove the throw cushion omit the horizontal stripe print Give duvet a block border to define it. COLLECTION -4 Decorative cushion can be fine quilted, Scale of the print on standard pillow needs to be reduced The duvet cover can be quilted Don't use the revert of any print in the same collection COLLECTION -5 The white stripes on the duvet needs to be avoided the placement of print of standard pillow needs to change COLLECTION -6 The white space has to be decreased Less of white cushions Standard printed pillow to be given a black flange border Change the euro sham print

Key Takeaways Things I learnt at Rajesh Pratap Singh Interning at Rajesh Pratap Singh helped me understand how the industry works in detail. Apart from designing, understanding the textile sector, exposure to the communication system in the brand, planning and execution was inexpressible. Here new fabrics and techniques are often invented and created keeping sustainability in mind. All things move with a faster pace to make the ends meet, To deliver on time. The design process of converting an idea/concept into a real garment/product in a fixed period is one of the most important aspect of learning. The internship helped me sharpen my software skills, I learnt about different printing techniques, washes, fabrics and as to why would we choose them. Lastly, I would Like to thank the college for providing me with this opportunity. This industry exposure was very insightful. The learning along all the semesters helped me in applying my design skills to use efficiently.

Experience My learning outcomes On the whole, this internship was a useful experience. I have gained new knowledge, skills and met many new people. I achieved several of my learning goals. I got insight into professional practice. I learned the different facets of working with a designer as sophisticated as Rajesh Pratap Sir. I experienced that quick receptivity, time management and multi-tasking is an important factor for the progress of projects. Related to my study I learnt more about the design process, how stealthily designs should be made in the industry, and how the production process works- beginning from receiving the design brief to the finalizing and producing the products. I also gained extensive knowledge on different print techniques and washes employed. Interning here really helped me sharpen my software skills. The internship was also a good place to find out what my strengths and weaknesses are . This helped me define what skills and knowledge I have to improve in the coming time. At last this internship has given me new insights and motivation to pursue a career in the industry
