2021 AUTUMN’S GLOW – RISE AND SHINE! Warm greetings to you all, Amid ongoing COVID challenges, Cancer Care of NCW continues at an admirable shining pace (28 years), assisting courageous cancer patients with not only housing but other supportive social services. Our House is currently operating at limited capacity (COVID response guidelines) along with physical distancing, masking and sanitizing procedures. Good people here – those we serve, along with ever-committed staff, volunteers, Board and Committee members, and stellar ever-faithful donors. Shining personified beacons of light are all around us, helping to weather the stressful storms of the heightened emotionality of coping and problem solving during these times of division and opposing points of view. What divides us, what unites us – cancer doesn’t give a hoot and the ultimate focus is on accomplishing our mission (conquering cancer). The grasp of COVID’s double-fisted punch cannot hold us back. Can we do it? Yes, together we can. BE THE LIGHT. Carry the torch to inspire, guide, and bring hope to others with constructive, supportive teamwork. We are so grateful for your help. We thank Sandi Miller (and Mike) for taking on the Night Manager duties this past summer. Wearing many hats, Sandi’s “can-do” attitude shines. WELCOME BACK VICKY!! Welcome to Emily Scovill, Outreach/Communications Coordinator who jumped on board with both feet – much accomplished already (grant writing, updated website, new phone system, technology/office updates, National Hospitality House certification work, and more to come). Special words to volunteers – we look forward to your return and your day is coming. We will have the “lights on for you” – can’t wait! Be sure to note the upcoming holiday fundraising sponsorship opportunities – the Forest of Hope (personalized luminaria with placement on December 15) and the Tree of Hope (decorated ornaments) right here on Our House grounds. See newsletter enclosure for more information. Illumination grandeur! Thank you, everyone, for all that you do. Norma Scovill, Board President “Nothing can dim the light which shines from within.” Maya Angelou

Since the pandemic began we have been operating Our House at half capacity, but we still serve cancer patients with hotel stays and travel-related costs. Gift cards from these establishments would be most helpful: Chevron, Shell, Safeway, Walmart, Fred Meyer, Target and Amazon. We suggest a minimum of $25.00 but any amount will be greatly appreciated. Anything purchased with the cards will directly benefit our guests. Gift cards may be dropped into a provided container outside of Our House on Make a Difference Day from 9am to 3pm or you can send them to us at 1708 Castlerock Ave., Wenatchee, WA 98801. Thank you for your continued support of Our House!

ONE DAY AT A TIME – Fall 2021 Cancer patients and their families learn to live one day at a time. Each day is precious. Those facing life-threatening illnesses realize that the past is gone, the future uncertain, and every day is important to live life to the fullest. With your donation of $100 to “One Day at a Time” you can assist in the operation and maintenance of the Cancer Care home project called Our House, for one day of the year. If you wish, you have the privilege of designating the day – to commemorate a special person or special event in one’s life. Your gift will be recognized at the house. Give today so that this home-away-from-home can continue to serve the needs of cancer patients for many years to come.
