\"What's in a name?\" – An analysis of thenames of the undergraduate and graduateprograms in physical education in IsraelR. Lidor, R. Talmor, M. ArnonThere are five undergraduate and four graduate programs in physical educationin Israel offered by academic colleges for education. Each program has itsown name, reflecting the specific curriculum taught in each of the programs. In this article, an analysis of the name of each of the programs is made. Morespecifically, the purpose of the current article is to analyze the terms includedin the name of each program, and to examine whether these terms are alsoincluded in the names of similar programs in physical education which existin Europe and North America. Three steps were undertaken in our study: (a)to review the names of undergraduate and graduate programs in physicaleducation exist in colleges and universities in Europe and North America;(b) to conduct a bibliometric analysis on the names of the undergraduateand graduate programs in physical education offered in Israeli academiccolleges for education; and (c) to compare the findings that emerged from thereview of the names of the undergraduate and graduate programs in physicaleducation in colleges and universities in Europe and North America withthose that emerged from the bibliometric analysis conducted on the names ofthe undergraduate and graduate programs in physical education in Israel. Themain finding that emerged from the names' analysis conducted in the currentarticle was that the term physical education is used more often in the namesof the programs taught in Israel than in the names of the programs taught inEurope and North America. The reason for the popular use of the term physicaleducation in Israel is probably due to the fact that the academic programs inphysical education in Israel are associated with physical education teacherpreparation, and not with the area of exercise and sport sciences.___________________________________________________________________________________Descriptors: Physical education, sport, health, undergraduate programs, graduate programs. Decision making in sport from theperspective of ecological rationalityE. MorgulevThis article reviews the main findings of decision making (DM) research inthe domain of sport. Part of the findings suggests that systematical biasesin DM of athletes and referees do exist, while other indicate the opposite. Both phenomena seem to be prevalent and robust. Some major models ofDM are outlined in order to discuss these findings and the gap between them. The ecological rationality approach is used to address the inconsistency inbehavior of these experienced, gifted, and highly motivated decision makers.Application of the ecological rationality model reveals that the decisioncriteria of athletes and referees may differ, thus there is a certain difficulty inevaluating their behavior. A common scenario from the game of basketball ispresented to demonstrate that diversity, as well as to emphasize the practicalapplication of the theoretical aspects covered in this paper._______________________________________________________Descriptors: Decision making, judgment, referees.X Movement, Vol. 10 (3), 2013
