PAGE 7 YOUTH MAGAZINE Erin’s Notes This week, we are focusing on symbols, subconscious symbols, symbols in entertainment, and how to use them properly. I start by addressing a question from a reader who wanted me to break down whether Beyoncé’s Black is King is racist. I do just that and I think it’s a pretty thought provoking article.  I’m sharing my favorite symbol dictionary that helps me analyze dreams, tarot and oracle cards, tv shoes, and movies including Disney classics. As a matter of fact, I break down the Cinderella story in a way that shows you not only how the astral realm works, but how you can make use of it.  You’re gonna learn how to make your own sigil. Its a tool to help you manifest things. You can make them for career, development, clarity, and you and your lover can create one to magnetize a collective experience that you both desire.  In episode 9 of The Tarot Podcast for Creatives, we’re learning how to let go of the ego’s chatter to make way for the new and the positive. A RESOURCE It’s time to level up your spiritual game. That is vastly FOR DECODING different from your religious ideology. Religion means “to SYMBOLS bind” and focuses on binding one to the those laws and rules that a holy text encourages. The subconscious is the holographic expression of the data your brain calculates.  The subsconscous mind communicates through symbols. Think about it. After waking up from a strange dream, we are often led to wonder and ask about what a dream means, like an owl at our window or being chased by some mysterious being. The symbols that make up our subconscious experiences are deep, broad and vast and it’s important to make sense of them. When we understand ancient and archetypal symbols, we are empowered to find blocks to our progression and to manifest more desireable outcomes. Because of this, I suggest that everyone own a dictionary of symbols. Mine is called “The Penguin Dictionary of Symbols” by Jean Chevalier and Alain Gheerbrant, translated by John Buchanan-Brown. It’s my go to book when breaking down dreams, brillliant literature and film, tarot cards, and strange synchronicities. More importantly, it helps me to develop deeper intuition because the spirit world and the divine beings therein, angels and ancestors, communicate to us through symbols as well. And when our holy texts are read from the intended metaphysical meanings, knowing what these symbols represent breaks down these stories and mythologies with pristine clarity. Grab a copy of “The Penguin Dictionary of Symbols” and keep it nearby as friend and a reference guide for your spiritual exploration. Use it to deepen your cultural and artistic understanding. And refer to it when you need to make sense of seemingly otherwordly phenomenon happening all around you.

How to Make Your Own Sigil Earlier in the magazine, we said that your 1 subconscious mind is programmed by symbols. It’s also programmed through repetition.  A master occult trick is to do the reprogramming yourself, just like you would use prayers or affirmations. And it’s a tool that requires your desires, your intentions and your crafting. On a sheet of paper, write out a statement of intention. Next circle each letter found in your statement. 2 But the trick is to only circle a single letter once. In this example, the letter I is circled once, and all the other I’s are crossed out. Write the letter once in the space below. Go through your statement of intention and cross out all repeating letters until you are left with a series of random letters.  Finally, take each letter and create a picture 3 with them. The picture can look like an outlandish stick figure or it can make no sense whatsoever. The goal is to make it something that is unfamiliar to your conscious experience so that your subconscious mind can go to work untethered by your hating as ego. Cinderella Breaking down the Symbolism of a Disney Classic Earlier in the issue, I shared a book I own and use called The Penguin Dictionary of Symbols, and talked about how I love breaking down the symbolism of movies and television shows. Disney is one of my favorite brands to do this work with because its like a library of ancient mythology revisioned for our era. The Cinderella story is such a fun story to break down because there is so much symbolism to pick up on. And contrary to popular opinion, all Disney movies are not sinister. The occult is simply “hidden knoweldge” or hidden culture”. It’s more like a cryptic information encoded into mythology and art meant for the development of our intuition and spirituality.  The Cinderella story brings with a young girl, pure at heart with a general love for animals and music. She is basically treated as a slave by her evil step mother and stepsisters, who serve as the chatter of her ego. They tell demean her and constantly devalue her worth. And her inner beliefs keep her confined to the box of their demands and expectations of her, just like our own ego.  On the “dark night of the soul”, a common theme in world mythology, after having the audacity to think she could attend the kingdom ball, her step family (ego) shatters her dream. And in an emotional stupor where she comes to a painful acceptance of her reality, she ends up in an astral experience.
