The Law of Correspondence UNDERSTANDING THE 2ND HERMETIC LAW As above, so below As a child, I was a Christian and was taught to pray. And even though I no longer subscribe to This week, we continue our seven part series with organized religion, the power of prayer is still the 2nd of the 7 Hermetic laws, the law of important for me. On top of that, there are entities and energies that exist beyond the veil, in the invisible realms. One of the reasons my magazine focuses so Angels, ancestors and extra terrestrials (for lack of heavily on the subconscious is because in my eyes, better terms) all exist and affect the “going ons” of that realm of the mind is the basis of spiritual the Earth realm. Even the electro-magnetic energy work. The subconscious houses all of our life of cosmic bodies such as the planets, the sun, the experiences, from all of our incarnations. Decoding the Veil In discussing the law of correspondence, I feel that the ancient veil is a great symbol to analyze while deepening our understanding of the second Hermetic law. The veil has always representing the separation between the known and the unknown, the physical and the mystical. Often, the veil represents the ego and the illusions of fleshly world, and the goal of enlightenment is to embark upon the process of lifting it, to get to the truth. In many traditions and mythologies, the veil also has an inverse meaning. It also represents the idea that the veil covers a light and knowledge so bright that those unenlightened would be burned by its brightness. It could be compared to the temporary elation and bliss of the orgasm, which is believed to be a momentary ecstasy of “heaven”. The human body would not be able to withstand a constant, never ending orgasm as such bliss would almost be unbearable. The veil, often called the hijab in the Middle East, was used as a patriarchal covering of women. But an even deeper truth lied in the veil protecting the mysteries of the feminine, Shakti, energy, or that creative, sexual majesty that lies at the heart of all living beings. The ceremonial lifting of the bride’s veil indicated that a man was worthy of experiencing the Shsexual energy through his maturity and dedication to her protection. As we develop our spiritual powers and become enlightened to our subconscous realities, we embark upon lifting the veil of ego. But it is a gradual process as the depth of the totality of spirit should often be experienced in doses, so as not to send the human psyche in shock or trauma. Sometimes, beneath our own veils are traumas, humiliations and abuses that our subconscious mind absorbs from the conscious as a protection mechanism. Uncovering and recovering from these traumas should be done carefully so that the healing process actually is healing. Think about and study the ancient veil or hijab in the various world traditions that reference it. Discover its connection to the awakening of the mind and the uncovering of subconscous, spiritual matters brewing inside of you. Again, pay attention to your dreams because in the dream state lies the symbolic representations of the mystical, uncovering, where many answers are waiting to be discovered.
