Librarians Action Items ● No action items at this time Informational Items Copyright We are still bound by copyright laws during this time outside of school. There are many publishers that are granting permission to read published work aloud and record them for students. However, we MUST have permission to do so. Here is a great resource collection of publisher guidelines on Fair Use for Online Stories and Read Alouds during school closures. We are not allowed to scan entire books or chapters of books for students to read. We are still bound by the Educational Fair Use laws. An example of this would be: a complete article, story, or essay if less than 2,500 words or an excerpt from any prose work of not more than 1,000 words or 10% of the work, whichever is less. If you have any specific questions, your campus librarian is a great resource. Emily Herrin
