Curriculum and Instruction Action Items ● Elementary PLC for Elective/Special Areas- October 15th ○ Schedule is linked HERE under the Electives PLC tab ○ All locations and Eduphoria links are on the spreadsheet ○ All PLC Leads were emailed this week with this information ● Secondary Teacher Mini Conference- October 15 ○ All Attendees will receive registration information on 10/7 via email and will select 4- 50 minute sessions. Check out the sessions on our event website:https://4tchrsxtchrs2019.sched.com/ ○ We will be providing box lunches for all teachers. Please encourage your teachers to be at HHS by 11:45 am for lunch and networking. ○ We have several sponsors with lots of great prizes and giveaways! Encourage your teachers to engage in professional learning and stay from 4:20-5:00pm for a special social event and grand prize giveaway! ● 7th Grade Composition Collection Procedure: ○ Papers organized by: ○ Campus ○ Teacher ○ Class period with an attached roll sheet indicating the number of students and students' who have missing compositions ○ Alphabetical order The reason for this method of collection is multi-purposed. One, provides for the teacher an efficient method to evaluate and record the scores and feedback. Two, it provides a clear picture of trends among and between teachers and campuses thus allowing for targeted feedback instead of just general, overall feedback. Once again, providing for efficient use of teacher time and instructional time. All compositions need to be delivered to JoLynn Meade at C & I Annex by October 29th. Ms. Wallace will be picking up all compositions November 1st and will be returning them, scored, November 8th. ● Writing Window-October 21-25 ● Writing Calibration PLC--November 11 ● Eduphoria Entry Window ● November 11-15 Derek McDaniel

Curriculum and Instruction Action Items ● Reminder-Writing Tasks for 3rd, 4th, and 5th Grade- Data is due October 11th Informational Items ● ELAR/SLAR and Math First Grade District PLC and Third Grade ELAR/SLAR PLC ○ We had our First Grade District PLCs this week and our Third Grade ELAR/SLAR District PLC. Here are the links for what was presented at the PLC: ○ ELAR/SLAR-October First Grade District PLC Presentation ○ September First Grade Math District PLC Presentation ○ ELAR/SLAR-3rd Grade District PLC Presentation- Fall ● Your campus should have Formative Loop up and running by now. As a district, 6,791 students have already mastered 54,575 skills! Please contact Mimi Salmon if you have questions or need assistance. ● The ELAR/SLAR overlap assessed curriculum for the new TEKS transition years for 3-8th grades are now on the TEA Website. You can access them using this link: ○ Link for 3-8 Overlap Assessed Curriculum ● Kindergarten and First Grade Skill Books ○ The first 9-weeks Skill Book goes home on October 18th. All information needed for the Skill Book is located under the Kinder or First Grade Skill Book Button on the Content Site. Teachers may choose to send the rubrics and parent brochure home with the report cards to assist parents with interpreting their child’s score. Kindergarten and First Grade will follow the same schedule for skill books and progress reports as 2nd-5th Grade follow for report cards and progress reports. Derek McDaniel

Advanced Academics Action Items ● AP Registration is open! High school principals, please remind students and parents of the timeline below and of the opportunity to apply for additional financial assistance here. ● As of Thursday, October 3, 333 students district-wide have applied for additional financial assistance. Great work getting the word out; this is 193 more students than we had last week--the number more than doubled! High schools, please continue to make sure that students know of this opportunity. The deadline for students to apply for additional financial assistance is TODAY, Friday, October 4. Informational Items ● PSAT will be administered to sophomores and juniors on October 16. Between now and then is the PERFECT time for juniors to be spending about 20 minutes a day on Khan Academy to prep to boost their scores from last year. Consider sharing this information with parents. NEW! Another resource for students is the Student Guide; while we receive hard copies of this to share, go ahead and send the electronic link as well. ● PSAT 8/9 will be offered to 8th grade students on October 23 Joy Philpott

State Assessments and Accountability Action Items With our first round of CBAs well underway, please remember that the District Data 19-20 folder is where we will be placing our district-level CBA, Interim, and Benchmark data. This folder is also linked in the ILT folder and can be starred or added to your Drive for quicker access. Informational Items For students who will complete STAAR assessments online needing designated supports such as text-to-speech, they should utilize the online testing feature in Eduphoria for all Curriculum Based Assessments. Multilingual Education and Migrant Programs Action Items FROM THE DESK OF BEN ESTRADA: TELPAS & LPAC COORDINATOR: ● The information below was sent to ALL LPAC Chairs & Clerks regarding the new Pre-LAS/LAS Battery of testing for the identification of English learners. Don’t forget to forward this to your teachers. They need to view this email before they receive the email from DRC. ● In this email, you have 2 links (read these first then watch the video): and a video recording on the process on how to login to the DRC portal to register and be able to administer the newly required state assessments for identifying new ELs. Please make sure you share this with your staff and any staff member that will be responsible for administering this assessment. How to register on DRC website What assessment do I do? Things to remember: 1. Due date: Oct. 24th 2019 2. Newly required state assessment- pre-LAS & LAS link 3. Must have a copy of certificate of completion for all Bilingual, ESL, LPAC chairs, Instructional coaches, counselors or anyone that will be administering this test to students. 4. Length of time to complete: Varies- about 1.2 hours 5. Calibration- Must be completed on independently 6. Videos can be viewed as a group 7. Student Information Systems (SIS) Action Items ● 6 weeks data reviews for Campus Principals and Special Program Staff - SIS will contact staff within the next week to review and sign off on special program data. ● Secondary Campuses - please add all aides and assistant/support teachers to sections in TEAMS for upcoming PEIMS reporting. TalentEd Logins will be synced to Active Directory so that you will have a streamlined login across most of the district software platforms. This change is scheduled to happen on October 11, 2019. Beginning on 10-14-19 logging into Talented will be the same as your computer/email login. ● Please remind your hourly employees that they need to receive prior approval to work overtime/earn comp time. Communities Talk Town Hall When: October 29, 2019, 6-7pm Where: Integral Care Free Dinner and refreshments Consider providing information about this event to parents - How to Talk with your child about Alcohol and Vaping Informational Items Flu Shots ● Seton will be holding a health fair on October 26. They have 250 flu shots they will provide to our students for free on a first come first serve basis. I am waiting for the flyer. I will send as soon as I receive. Nurse Walkthroughs ● I created a Nursing Clinic Observation under walkthroughs to give you an opportunity to complete walkthroughs for your nurse.
