Curriculum and Instruction Action Items Our next ELAR PLCs are on Thursday, November 5th from 3:30-4:15. Please have your teachers sign-up in Eduphoria if they would like to attend. The 3rd, 4th, and 5th Grade District Writing Task testing windows are November 9th- November 13th. The campus PLC scoring and calibration window is November 16th- 20th. The data will be due in Eduphoria by December 4th. The ELAR and SLAR team will be scoring all of the 4th Grade Writing Task compositions. The 4th grade teachers will enter the data in Eduphoria that they receive back on the evaluation rubrics from the district. We will scan these rubrics over to the teacher and campus once we are finished scoring. We will access all of the 4th grade writing tasks in Schoology to score them. All in-person and virtual students in 3rd-5th grade will need to upload an image of their writing task in Schoology. Here is a link to the directions for the process, how to upload the images in Schoology, and how to enter the data in Eduphoria. Elementary District Writing Task Directions You will also find all of the directions, writing tasks, and the rubrics in the green District Assessments-2020-2021 folder in the Schoology PLC Groups. Thank you in advance for your help with this process and let us know if you have any questions. We are so excited to read all of the 4th grade compositions! Please click on THIS LINK to view information which can be shared with parents. Informational Items ● On October 21, parents had multiple options to attend a parent meeting regarding G/T assessments. State Assessments and Accountability Action Items How are your teachers helping students track their progress and goal set? Check out these tools for a variety of ideas! ● Elementary Examples ● Secondary Examples For HS CBA questions requiring justification, the Eduphoria Notepad Tool is a great way for students and teachers to use and see the justifications. For ES and MS, the Student Score Summary can be returned to by the student up until the testing window closes. Students can go into the questions they missed, add a note, and can explain their reasoning for why they got that question incorrect or give the correct answer for what they should have chosen. Teachers would see these notes just like they would on any other testing notes. Informational Items As posted in the updated 2020-2021 Educator Guide to Accessibility, page 5 states: “The mode of testing (paper or online) should not be documented in the student’s paperwork and should be determined closer to testing once the student has been given the opportunity to practice online.” UPDATED PROCEDURE (Reviewed in this week’s AP Meetings): In SuccessEd, ARD Facilitators and 504 Coordinators will only have the option to choose STAAR for the type of assessment. (ARD Facilitators will also have the option for STAAR Alt 2 for special education students that qualify.) More info can be found HERE. Kevin Malandruccolo

Digital Learning Action Items We are always looking to make our accounts and network the most secure they can be. Therefore, we are implementing a change to our student passwords. Starting tomorrow, 10/30, any NEW to Hays CISD students will have a default password of their birthdate in the following format: MMDDYYYY (i.e. 08022001). We will make the change for ALL EE-6th grade students when we get back from the holidays in JANUARY. There might be a little lapse in this change for our new students. So have them try their birthdate first and then try their ID second. Again, this is ONLY for New to Hays CISD students right now.
