Advanced Academics Action Items ● AP Registration continues! High school principals, please remind students and parents of the timeline below. Students must be registered by November 11, one week from this coming Monday. (Please remind students that complete payment is not due until March 13.) Informational Items ● Members of the Pre-AP Curriculum Resource Committee have been identified through input from campus administrators and curriculum coordinators. At least two representatives from every secondary campus in the district have been invited to the first meeting on November 5. Joy Philpott
Gifted and Talented Services Action Items ● Elementary G/T cluster teachers need to complete a progress monitoring report for each identified G/T student. They will need to print the report and send it home with the report card at the end of the semester. Directions for how to find the report in Eduphoria can be found at THIS LINK. Informational Items ● Lead teachers now have access to edit the G/T section of the campus website. Directions can be found at THIS LINK. Contact Linda Rosebrock if there are questions about this. ● To help with sending information to parents via email, Linda Rosebrock created Blackboard/Parent Link contact/notification groups for each campus. Principals have access to their respective campus group. The group names follow this convention: CAMPUSINITIALS_GT_12-02-19 (examples: GES_GT_12-02-19, MMS_GT_12-02-19, LHS_GT_12-02-19). Lead teachers will need to send information they want to share with parents to the principal who can send it out to parents via Blackboard. ● JASON Learning has partnered with the Institute of Scrap Recycling Industries (ISRI) to sponsor a video and poster contest. The winner and their family win a trip to ISRI’s 2020 Annual Convention and Exposition to be held April 27-30, 2020 in Las Vegas, Nevada! ○ One video and one poster will be selected as a finalist from each of the three grade bands: K – 4, 5 – 8, 9 – 12. HS CTCs, please refer to the Completing a Test Administration document for all required pieces. -INTERIM SURVEYS: Next week, please have your teachers and students complete the appropriate surveys relating to our first round of State-Developed Interims. We have a survey for teachers, students, and students who took their interim in Spanish. -If you have not already done so, please review the Accessibility/Designated Support Training with all STAAR-tested teachers before we leave for the December break. The goal is to make decisions on Designated Supports in a more timely manner to positively impact the needs of individual students. Please train your staff before we leave on December 20th. ● 504 Coordinators: Be sure to upload 504 Homebound documentation into Eduphoria. Informational Items ● 504 Coordinators: All dyslexia consents to evaluate take place in a 504 meeting. ● 504 Coordinators: Inactive students in 504 will remain coded 504. Information about monitoring is found in the 504 Handbook on page 9. ● Documents have been uploaded to the C & I Website for all Academic Support areas. ● Homebound Coordinators:Original timesheets must be sent to me in the pony. ● RtI: Tier 2 and 3 students should have current goals and progress monitoring documentation. Special Education Action Items ● No action items at this time Informational Items NEW LINGO: PPCD is not longer called PPCD. The new term is ECSE What is ECSE? ECSE stands for Early Childhood Special Education. ECSE (formerly known as PPCD) programs are not limited to a self-contained classroom on an elementary or early childhood campus. The law requires a full continuum of services to educate young children with disabilities. Local Education Agencies (school districts and charter schools) offer services to preschoolers with disabilities in a variety of settings based on the child's individual needs, always considering services in the least restrictive environment (Head Start, Pre-K/Kindergarten general education classroom) first. Please use them by May 2020. DED local indicates that you will need to use them by December; however, since we had not sent a courtesy reminder, your time has been slightly extended.
