Gifted and Talented Services Action Items None at this time. None at this time. Informational Items Resources for teachers, students, and families: I am in the process of creating resource pages by grade band to help support G/T students. Below are links to the documents. They are also posted on the Home Learning website. Please know these are works in progress and I am continuing to add resources. If you know of anything I should add, please send it to me. The documents will be translated. K-2 3-5 6-8 9-12 G/T FAQ: I created a G/T FAQ document which can be accessed at THIS LINK. If you have questions, send them to me and I can add them to the FAQ if they pertain to a wide audience. Lead Teacher meetings: My goal is to meet with each lead teacher virtually to check in. Lead teachers should go to THIS LINK to choose a time. Meetings will be held via Google Meet or Zoom. If that doesn’t work, we can talk via phone. Transfers: New students are still being registered. If a student was identified as G/T in the previous district, please complete the transfer form found at THIS LINK. I will then hold a selection committee virtually to determine next steps. Testing: The deadline for testing to be completed was before Spring Break. This means only students with special situations need to finish. If we are able to go back to school, we will complete any remaining testing at that time. If not, I will work on a plan to determine how to best finish testing. Selection Committees: Since Home Learning has been extended, we will plan to have our selection committee training meetings virtually on April 14. Elementary will be held at 2:00 and secondary at 3:00. I will send a link to lead teachers prior to the meeting. At that time, I will discuss the plan for holding selection committee meetings. PLCs: If you would like me to attend a PLC, please let me know. I am happy to help. Tish Cawley

Thank you for your support and your dedication to this community. ● Counselor PD opportunities will be sent directly to the counselors and copied to the principals. Most of these come from the Texas Counseling Association and Region 13. Charlotte Winklemann

Multilingual Education and Migrant Programs Action Items The Multilingual Education Team is thinking of you each and every day! We miss you and we’ll get through this together!!! Informational Items FROM THE DESK OF KEVIN MALANDRUCCOLO Thanks to those who were able to complete the TELPAS form. After speaking to Patricia and Ben, here is where we are. Please remember we were getting updates throughout this week and anticipate future updates which we will communicate. ● There is obviously nothing we can do with students still needing to take Online Reading or Listening/Speaking. ● TELPAS Alternate info was sent to those campus CTCs yesterday with directions how this can be completed at home. ● For TELPAS Writing Holistic Ratings, we seem to be in either of two scenarios: ○ For those campuses that have all ratings completed and everything is in one location, if you or your principal are going to your building soon, it would be appropriate to take the needed papers (preferably only the completed rating roster) so that the holistic ratings can be entered into PearsonAccessNext from home. If this is the principal gathering this from one location, it is recommended the information be scanned and emailed to the TELPAS CTC. ○ For campuses that have writings that still need to be rated OR if papers are in multiple locations, we will simply need to wait. We have until May 29th (potentially longer) to get everything into PearsonAccessNext. The main priority now for campus admin and teachers (besides keeping everyone safe) is to help prepare for the upcoming Learning at Home activities. There is absolutely no need to stress about anything TELPAS-related at this time. If you have any specific questions, please contact Patricia, Ben, or myself. We cannot thank you enough for all the hard work you are doing. Stay safe and take care. Patricia Melgar-Cook

Student Health Services Action Items ● TEACH Handwashing! Encourage it! Make time for it! ○ At least 20 seconds, scrub, soap and water ○ Only use hand sanitizer when soap and water is not an option ○ Classroom lessons and Activities ○ Hand Washing materials Informational Items ● COVID-19 Did you know: ○ Coronaviruses are a large family of viruses that are common in many different species of animals, including camels, cattle, cats, and bats. Rarely, animal coronaviruses can infect people and then spread between people. This newest virus has been named “SARS-CoV-2” and the disease it causes has been named Novel (new) “coronavirus disease 2019” (abbreviated “COVID-19”) ○ These are spread much like the flu or common cold (through droplets) and prevention is through typical means such as handwashing, coughing into the elbow, staying home when sick, etc ○ The CDC and DSHS believe the risk to the US general public is low. Quarantines are occurring at the entry point into the US for those traveling to regions with the disease spreading person to person. Karrie (Macie) Walker
