GEOMETRICITY is a proposal to turn a dream into a reality by designing the first human colony on planet Mars. Inspiring by the Weaire-Phelan structure, the geometric structure developed out of the idea of transformation in order to achieve the efficiency needed at Mars. With the slogan “minimizing resources & logistics with maximum outcomes and impacts.”, this design aimed to conquer the Martian Soil by providing innovative and self- sustaining ideas for sustainability and functionality.
INVOLVEMENT: DESIGN PROPOSAL Kintagarden is a project in Kinta district, Perak aiming to provide a pre-school for the residences. It is a temporary kindergarten project which will be demolished to develop the site in 20years. Hence, the developer prefer to use recycable construction materials for this project. “Kindergarten with a garden”. In order to provide a kids oriented design preschool and a playable building, we proposed a train station with train carriage as classroom. The kids will hop onto the “train” every morning for class and get to play and learn about nature in their “secret garden” on the other side of the train. The design of common area such as multi-purpose hall and studios is inspired from honeycomb which symbolizes hardwork and teamwork. The hexagonal structure is efficient as all the six sides fit perfectly and allows maximum space. The rooftop garden of the hexagonal structure will be the children’s playground which allows their endless imagination.
INVOLVEMENT: FACADE DESIGN This project is a property developer’s office and showroom in Damansara, Kuala Lumpur. Due to its location within a residential area it is designed to have a bungalow facade to avoid hierarchy in the neighbourhood. As the building consists of three main programmes: office, showroom and garden, the concept of the facade is combining the three cube of volume together. As the construction main material of this project is concrete we proposed to add more elemnents such as timber and glass to make the facade stand out from the plain white paint finishes. The showroom is widely open with glass facade and timber framed so that it can be viewed from outside. The balcony allows the staff and the clients to have discussion in a more relaxing environment with a pool at the corner. The rooftop garden provides a green space for them to hold events as well as a place to chill after their tiring work.
