HYMN COMMENTARY This Little Light of Mine This hymn is a proclamation that no adversity, including slavery, can keep the true believers from experiencing the joy that only God can give. Worshiping communities are encouraged to substitute different words for \"light:\" love, hope, faith, peace, etc. Jeffrey Radford arranged the tune in 1993. Radford (b. 1953) arranged this tune for congregational singing. Radford arranged eight different spirituals for The New Century Hymnal.
