A CELEBRATION OF WORSHIP CLAREMONT UNITED CHURCH OF CHRIST PRELUDE Serenade for Organ Bourgeois INTROIT For All the Faithful Women WELCOME GRADUATES VIDEO CALL TO WORSHIP One: We’ve come this far by faith, All: Leaning on the LORD One: Trusting in god’s Holy Word, All: God has never failed us yet. One: We can’t turn around! All: For we’ve come this far by faith! OPENING HYMN For All the Saints (vs. 1, 3, 5) SINE NOMINE For all the saints who from their labors rest, who to the world their steadfast faith confessed, your name, O Jesus, be forever blessed. Alleluia! Alleluia! Still may your people, faithful, true, and bold, live as the saints who nobly fought of old, and share with them a glorious crown of gold. Alleluia! Alleluia! And when the strife is fierce, the warfare long, steals on the ear the distant triumph song, then hearts are brave again, and faith grows strong. Alleluia! Alleluia! PRAYER OF CONFESSION Eternal God, we are trying to live as your disciples, and yet we still find that our fears run deep and we cannot overcome them by ourselves. We worry so much, and talk ourselves out of facing challenges and stepping outside of our familiar habits. Remind us once again that to deepen our faith, we must learn to fully trust you. Teach us to lean into your promises and strengthen our connection with you and with one another. Amen.
ASSURANCE One: …Let us cast our worries aside and place our trust in our God, who has never abandoned us. All: Amen. CLAREMONT UNITED CHURCH OF CHRIST COVENANT In response to God's creating, redeeming, and sustaining love, we unite for the worship of God and the service of all. We seek to know the will of God and to walk in God's ways, made known in Jesus Christ: to love one another, to proclaim the Gospel to all the world, to work and pray for peace and justice, and to live in harmony with all creation. We trust the presence of the Holy Spirit in trial and rejoicing and the promise of eternal life both now and for evermore. Amen. PASSING OF THE PEACE One: May the peace of Christ be with you. All: And also with you. CHILDREN’S MESSAGE OFFERING/MUSIC El Espíritu de Dios Trio Sol De Amores Belinda Oceguera, Upright Bass Lilly Oceguera, guitar Dolce Oceguera, Violin DEDICATION SCRIPTURE Colossians 3:12-17 12 As God’s chosen ones, holy and beloved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, meekness, and patience. 13 Bear with one another and, if anyone has a complaint against another, forgive each other; just as the Lord has forgiven you, so you also must forgive. 14 Above all, clothe yourselves with love, which binds everything together in perfect harmony. 15 And let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, to which indeed you were called in the one body. And be thankful. 16 Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly; teach and admonish one another in all wisdom; and with gratitude in your hearts sing psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs to God. 17 And whatever you do, in word or deed, do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Creator through him. HYMN I Love to Tell the Story (vs. 1 & 4) HANKEY I love to tell the story of unseen things above. Of Jesus’ radiant glory, of Jesus’ endless love. I love to tell the story, because I know it’s true; it satisfies my longings as nothing else can do. I love to tell the story; and when I am in glory I’ll tell the old, old story of Jesus’ endless love. I love to tell the story, for those who know it best seem hungering and thirsting to hear it, like the rest. And when I sing in glory, I know the new, new song will be the old, old story that I have loved so long. I love to tell the story; and when I am in glory I’ll tell the old, old story of Jesus’ endless love. PRAYERS OF THE PEOPLE & THE LORD’S PRAYER One: …We pray these things using the words you teach us, saying together, All: Our Father/Mother/Creator who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom/kin-dom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread and forgive us our debts as we forgive our debtors. Lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom/kin-dom, the power, and the glory, forever. Amen.
