1 MY life journey
early life and kindergarten Morning,Braids and Pink school uniform On this chaotic morning the day me and my sister woke up late resulting in us rushing to shower and getting ready for school in a rush. We arrived at school in our pink kindergarten uniform forgetting to do one of the most important things for today, making our hair for the photo taking day. Despite the worry of my parents, our homeschool teacher took us in her arms, picked the comp up and started braiding our hair in a crown braid. In that moment as a little girl, it felt like we were princesses. This feeling intensified when we posted a picture with a flower crown and with a garden backdrop. Thank you for the teacher's act of kindness that day, for once we had a photo day full of my rare smile since I usually don’t smile for photos. Now thinking back it was a memorable and meaningful photo taking day till date.
primary school One day of freedom It was probably one of the days we get to break the rule a bit in my time at Saint Joseph, something that is so rare in “follow the rule by the book” all girl Thai school. Saint Joseph Convent family day is an event where students, parents and teachers get together to eat Mcdonalds where you may ask… wait for it → at the library! we have all the freedom to speak our mind out loud and chit chat with everyone without keeping our voice to “cafe” mode all the time. And we get a break from all classes and the event lasts for half a day. I remember wanting it to last a little longer. It is so memorable since it is one of those days that make me forget just for a moment that I am a part of a Saint Joseph student and embrace the concept of a family who goes through ups and downs together under the same roof.
Middle school This story starts with an ordinary morning me walking into the morning ceremony of my six grade before a half day party for our last day. I was asked to sit down in rows and then name after name was called til my name was. I later found out that I got a scholarship. The funny thing is I didn’t even know that our school offered one. It was a proud and confusing moment with my friends clapping.
My life journey: Highschool Lab of friendships AP biology Biotechnology lab day starts with a seemingly normal lab day at our science lab room. Then it turn to memorable conversations about all sorts of topics from my highschool teacher pets salamanders, Gabriel best cookies recipe (which I didn’t have a chance to try yet), how dolphin head look like aliens, short stress are good for you to a dream sharing session while streaking plates in class and afterschool for this and another project of our teacher which start from helping to gain extra points but in my opinion that day we definitely gain more than that: valuable friendships, knowledge and life lessons.
My life journey: university life The warmest family: Psyche and JIPP family Sampob event preparation started with me deciding to sign up as a content position an hour before the sign up form closed because I was overthinking sacrificing most of my break to an event. After that, I started working as a content team thinking of themes and coming up with events with zero experience alongside nine more faculty of psychology students from both Thai and international programs feel so lost until we get brief after our seniors who clear things up for us. Now looking up it was the best decision of my life teaching me manything most importantly how to work as a team, objectives come first, not taking too much work and providing me with the people I want in my life who support me and stay friends till now.
2 MY influential people
My mother:my inspiration from a little till now A kind, loving and strong woman. She is someone who raised me with such a caring and nurturing attitude and always tries her best to be there for her daughter even though she is often busy with housework and managing other things at home. I always admire her strength going through tough times in her life as she grew up in a middle income family with her dad working at a radio station serving the government. My mom once told me a story about how she was told by her parents that she had to get into a state college or else she would have to stay at Nakorn Sri Thammarat where she originally came from. She told me about how much she studied for their entrance and even asked in the interview how much she needed to study here because that is a stepping stone to a better life in Bangkok. Relating to this, she used to tell me how she had to eat mama noodles and put ice in front of a fan so the room would get colder at night so she could sleep comfortably. These stories made me admire her for her perseverance, hard work and determination to better her life.
Mr. Brian: A teacher who is more than just a teacher Looking from the outside, Mr. Brian is a tall bald man who teaches high School Biology teacher. He may seem like an ordinary teacher figure to some but for me I admire his leadership qualities, patience and his willingness to help others despite how busy he is with his professional and personal life. Every time when he leads a meeting with the Science department, it always seems to run smoothly, making me admire his ability to control the crowd and be able to solve problems with ease. I also witnessed his willingness to help others, especially his students despite his busy schedule. One experience that highlights this quality to me is when me and other students come in to ask him questions when he is busy with work and also lecturing his son on why he doesn’t do the work. Out of manner and us being considerate, we excused ourselves and said it is not important we meet him now. But he told us he is done with it now. We said sorry, maybe it is not a good time. You should take care of that first but he said something that stood up to me. Guys don’t do this, didn’t I tell you guys I always make time for my students. Aside from this, he is also a single dad who is busy but always finds time to go to gym and give fitness advice to other teachers.
Two friends from across the globe: Nina from china and Liyan from the Netherlands Li Yan : who I consider my little sister is a friend of mine who is originally from China but got adopted by Netherlands parents who later moved to Thailand for work. She is now studying at an international school here in Thailand. Li yan is someone I admire for the amount of love she had for her parents and her little brother. I admire how she would wake up early in the morning of her mother's birthday to make breakfast for her and other family members. It is so thoughtful of her to do that. I also always admire her strength in being able to let go and forgive people easily and her ability to remain a child enjoying life without taking things so seriously, something I can’t achieve myself. Nina :who I consider my big sister Nina is another friend of mine who I admire. She is a Chinese girl who moved to Thailand with her uncle to study at an international school here in Thailand. She is someone who does not have a perfect family where her parents didn't really care for her as much and left her to live with her uncle. Her dad prefers her noisy little brother who does not even study hard at school and mostly plays games only because he is a boy who is superior in Chinese culture. Despite this lookdown act, she continues to work hard in school, has no grudge against her brother and takes care of her sister who has panic disorder instead of her parents who simply just pay the bill for her sister to see a psychiatrist and that is it.
3 My greatest teacher
primary school teacher One of my primary teachers is Ms. sawotrot. She taught me social studies and history during my primary years. She is a teacher who has so much passion in teaching us the history of thailand. However, unlike other teachers she never fails to remind us learning is not all about in the classroom. Something that I still remember about her class is that she always quizzes us on the Thai and world news every morning saying it is important to know what is happening in the world around us, something that I don’t understand the importance of it during that time but now know that it is important to know sometimes in order to socialize, having more empathy to those around us and keep up with trends.
secondary school teacher The greatest teacher I have is first Ms. Katherine, My life and earth science teacher. She is someone who makes science class an interactive one filled with activities like sink and swims, the hand tectonic plates activity. She is also someone who teach me many things along the way such as grade is something outside what matter most is something inside, the golden rule of not doing things you don’t like to other people and probably the only teacher that understand the fear I have about participating in class that I am scared I will be call out, embarrass or get in trouble by the teacher if I make mistakes in my answers to them. She was so understanding and told me calmly we don’t do that here, any answers are welcome and making mistakes is part of the process of learning.
university teachers My university teacher that I feel connected to is probably Ajarn Trawin. I really respect his passion for teaching developmental psychology and his jokes in class from time to time. He is one of the rare professor who can make 4 hours class more enjoyable and his care of attention to detail and his curiosity of students in many occasion he always answer my question even though it is out of topics and would send me more paper and assist me in understand them whenever I ask for more information to feed my curiosity. Aside from that he is a caring father too setting aside his break time for his daughter. Another professor that is one of the greatest teachers is Ajarn William. I love how down to earth he is to his students. He let us sit on the floor having discussion, creating a space for his students. He also pay attention to details, being able to recap what someone had shared in class and who had shared it with each emotion and checking students before they go home making sure they are in a good state, not crying etc as we do lots of therapy experience things in class. Even though he has a PhD, he is always interested in learning more from his students. He asked us about eastern mindfulness. One thing that sticks with me is to say thank you when someone says no because they are honest with you and being sensitive can be a good thing too as it allows you to have empathy.
4 My self capital
I am a 18 years old woman, a child of Thanet Tamseree and Worawan Tamseree who grew up and lived all my life in Bang na,Bangkok with my parents and my Twin sister. A girl who may not grow up in a perfect family but a family that supports me in anything I do, never forces me to go into a path or area of study I don’t enjoy and supports me in my extracurricular activities too. My father is now retired and has a renting business but used to work as the head of the sales department at a Japanese company that sells electric wires for 30 years. My mom has always been a housewife. I have a twin sister who I have a close relationship with.I am originally a black hair girl but now I have blond highlights in my hair and have round shaped faces. I am quite shy, don’t have much self confidence at times, helpful, happy but I don’t express it in the form of a smile much and I consider myself an overthinker and take things too personally at times. Another way someone describes me is as a good listener, loyal and honest person. I don’t get many awards in life but back in the days I used to get 3 places for drawing competitions and many seahawks scholarships back in middle school and high school for excellence achievement in academics and extracurricular activities and I used to be part of the semi finalist for youth for SDG 2018 conference. All in all, I would say that I have quite a supportive surrounding community of my extended family, teachers and friends in my social circle.
5 My local wisdom
I feel like I know some knowledge of the world map in terms of locations and time zones probably from my history class. I don’t have much knowledge on rice, landfield and mountain, especially land and rice fields but just what soil is good for growing rice and the difference between processed and unprocessed rice. I do know some facts about mountains like how they are made and a bit about what healthy mountains look like. The same goes for information on canals and rivers. I don't know anything aside sfrom the fact that the mouth of the river has many nuritions. Some local attractions are mega bangna, Paragon, Wat phra kaew, and the royal palace. And the local strength is Thai people being a friendly person, letting things go easier, starting with a smile first, and being kind to one another.
6 My global knowlege
As for my global knowledge, life is all about balancing the happiness and suffering moment in life. There is no point in rushing the nature life process, we shoudl thrive to live life day by day hour by hour not worrying much about what is next since it will just overwhelm us in the end. In term of my analytical thinking skills I would said it have improve over time back in primary school I found it diffuclt to make connetions between two seemily unrelated topics but now I am able to found connection for that and futhermore solve problems quicker than before. I also learn more century 21 skills such as information and technology, creativity and productivity
