Producftroimothne Team Since its original premiere, Strictly Ballroom has been re-written and re-staged in numerous versions. New songs have been added, new dialogue written and the design of the epic sets and costumes completely reworked. This ever-evolving work has seen as many as eleven different composers contribute music to the score. As a result, the show contains numerous musical genres and influences including Pop and Rock, Latin American, Spanish, some beautiful ballads and of course some of the well-known and loved tunes from the classic Australian movie. The version that CLOC is presenting this season is notably different from the original Sydney production and has never been seen by Melbourne audiences. It features a number of new songs composed by Eddie Perfect and some beautiful ballads by Eddie and Sia Furler (Chandelier) to give the feel of Australia in the 1980s. It is a real thrill and a rare opportunity to work on a production that includes so much new and original material and we are very excited for our audiences to hear these brand new songs. An extra special treat for the cast during rehearsals occurred when Eddie Perfect popped in unannounced to CLOC’s rehearsal rooms and provided some invaluable insight into the music and the messages contained within the show. To have this level of access to the composer of a production you are currently working on is extremely rare and is something that the cast and production team will remember for a long time.
