Research Proposal Examples - A Must-Read for Every Candidate Research proposal examples are used as a tool to convince potential funding sources and management that your project is worthy of their patronage. These documents laying out your Doctoral dissertation are most often between 1,000 and 3,000 words long. It is common for these documents to be referred to as 'manuscripts', or more commonly known as 'papers'. If you have decided to submit this document for review under the direction of a faculty member, this is known as having your 'book' reviewed'. The reason for having your research proposal examples prepared, as part of the approval process, is to provide a factual outline of your proposed project; along with a summary and conclusions. In essence, this will form the back-burner that you will need to focus all of your energy on when it comes to preparing for your tenure. If your project was accepted, you will then need to write and submit a thesis statement; outlining your specific research proposal, its current status, and your plans for its future development. Your thesis statement is attached to your cover letter, and is a vital piece of your application package. In addition to having your research proposal examples prepared by an outside agency, you will also need to write a chapter-by Chapter synopsis outlining the key points of your project; and include a table of contents so that the reader can review the chapters from top to bottom. A final, and extremely important section of your application, is to write a small but significant section titled References. This section will outline the people that you would like to interview, and the references that you will ask to speak to if your application is accepted. As you can see, the entire life cycle of your academic plan will be dictated by the style and language of your written submission.
