Tiger Tales News from the Delta Theta Chapter of Chi Phi Volume 5, Issue 1 March 2021 Chapter Members set up the Chi Phi tent for the Clemson Wesleyan Church “Night to Shine,” a dance for children with special needs Delta Theta recruits largest spring new member class ever This past spring, we welcomed 20 new members into our new member program. I have created an education plan that will teach our New Members what it means to be a true Chi Phi Brother. One thing I have added to the program is Chapter History. Since the Delta Theta Chapter has a density to its timeline, I think it is appropriate to teach them how this Chapter was built from the ground up, and what it takes to be successful. This will give them an appreciation for our past Brothers, as well as show them what standards we hold to maintain our strong Brotherhood. We have also added Ritual debriefs. The purpose of these meetings is to have an open discusion with the new members about what stood out to them about the ritual and to teach them the importance of what they just learned. We are looking forward to finishing the new member process strong, and initiating some well-fit Chi Phi men. -Theta Joey Koch, ΔΘ ’23, Eta Class
2 Tiger Tales From the Alpha... A few things that our Council have worked on is a new sober monitor points system, Michael Tuckerman an event calendar for the semester, an ΔΘ ‘22, Epsilon Class updated new member education program, submission for IFC Chapter of the Year and so much more. I am extremely proud of all the work we have put in this early into our tenure, but there is so much more to be done. My dream is to be able to come back to Clemson many years from now and see that the boys of Delta Theta are doing better than ever. Until I feel confident that is in our future, I will continue to pour my heart and soul into this job. But let’s not forget how far we have come as a Chapter. This year I have the honor and privilege to be the new Alpha for the Chapter. People say the job is tough, and it is, but I desire to create positive change within the Chapter and this position will help me do so. My goal as Alpha from the start has 2021 Executive Council been to create a new standard that we hold Alpha (President) - Michael Tuckerman ourselves to as Brothers as well as leaders Orlando, FL, Industrial Engineering, 2022 in the fraternity. Everyone has a role to play and everyone should know what is Beta (Vice-President) - Adam Kummetz expected of them so that we can be an effective organization. Our Fraternity motto Denver, CO, Mechanical Engineering, 2021 is “Building Better Men,” and I want this fraternity experience to offer that. Gamma (Secratary) - Jack Ramirez My end goal is be able to hand off all Houston, TX, Finance, 2024 Delta (Treasurer) - Erik Bergman St. Louis, MO, Finance & Accounting, 2022 Epsilon (Sergeant-at-Arms) - Nick Rabon Sumter, SC, Computer Science, 2023 executive positions with a written guide Zeta (Historian) - Benjamin LeBlanc that will detail every aspect of their job Bethesda, MD, Biological Sciences, 2022 so that no matter who holds the position Eta (Risk Manager) - Nick Daly next, they will know what is required of them and build upon the work we have Charleston, SC, Mechanical Engineering, 2023 accomplished. Being on the Executive Council is often a thankless job, but I hope Theta (Membership Educator) - Joey Koch to change that view by having tangible evidence of the work we put in. Tiger Tales From the New member Class President... Spencer Marchant ΔΘ ‘24, Kappa Class Hello! My name is Spencer Marchant and I am a freshman Construction Science and Management major from Greenville, SC. I had the honor of serving as the New Member class President for the 2021 spring class. To the parents of my Iota Class Brothers: Over the past six weeks I have gone from meeting your sons for the first time, to having 19 new Brothers for life. All of them have taught me so much about loyalty, accountability, and grit. All of your sons turned into great young men. To the New Member Education Committee and Theta Joey Koch: Thank you for sticking with us throughout this entire process. All of you have taught us what it means to be a man of Chi Phi. To all of my new Chi Phi Brothers: You have shown the Iota class exactly what Brotherhood means. Throughout the process y’all have exemplified everything it means to not just be friends, but family. I cannot express my excitement for what the future holds with Chi Phi and the Iota class, and am proud to say I have found a home. A Note from the Editor: I would like to offer a special thank you to Erik Bergman for collecting the articles written here; to Ben LeBlanc and Patrick McCusker for compiling photos throughout the year; to Aaron Toler for chairing the Committee; to the whole Alumni Committee for helping out with the design. Also a huge shoutout to our Advisor, Jonathan “CD” Rawls, for not only providing the previous newsletter to give me a starting point in order to make it my own, but also for being a better Advisor than we could have asked for. -Lincoln “Link” Loeffler, ΔΘ ‘22, Zeta Class
