BHAVANS PEARL WISODM SCHOOL MONTHLY NEWSLETTER National Mathematics Day National Mathematics Day is celebrated every year on December 22nd across the nation to recognise and celebrate the works of Srinivasa Ramanujan. It was on this day in 1887, the Indian mathematical genius Srinivasa Ramanujan was born. The mathematical genius Ramanujan was born to a Tamil Brahmin Iyengar family at Erode, Tamil Nadu. The former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, on February 26th , 2012, declared December 22nd as the National Mathematics Day to mark the mathematician’s birth anniversary. The National Mathematics Day is celebrated across the country with several educational events in schools and colleges. BPWS celebrated National Mathematics Day on 7th January 2021 to create more interest in mathematics for the students. Different competitions were conducted category wise. For Grade 1 and 2 – Fancy Dress competition with the theme mathematical shapes, for Grade 3 and 4 – Construction of Geometrical City using different mathematical shapes. For Grade 5-7 a quiz based on Great mathematicians, Numbers, Puzzles, and Shapes. Most of the students participated in all the categories. The students exhibited the concept of clock and shape for the fancy dress competi- tion, using geometrical shapes the students made wonderful cities. Activities made Mathematics fun for students. BHAVANS PEARL WISODM SCHOOL MONTHLY NEWSLETTER YOUTH- The Strong Pillars National Youth Day is observed in India on January 12th on the birthday of Swami Vivekananda. In 1984 the Government of India declared the day as the ‘National Youth Day’ and since 1985 the event is celebrated in India every year. Swami Vivekananda was a great person who always believed in the youth power to lead and nourish the historical culture of the country. Philosophies, teachings and ideas of Swami Vivekananda are the great cultural and traditional assets of India. Youth are the most important part of the country who lead the country ahead, that’s why youths are selected to be inspired first by the ideas and ideals of Swami Vivekananda. So, the National Youth Day is celebrated every year to encourage and inspire the honorable youths of our country. BPWS proudly celebrated National Youth day and students enthusiastically took part in the event. Students cre- ated posters with the slogans of Swami Vivekananda, and took part in the drawing and colouring activity. BHAVANS PEARL WISODM SCHOOL MONTHLY NEWSLETTER Pajama day for our Little Champs Comfort comes in the form of Pajama Day. Celebrated on 13th January 2021, the day invites everyone to wear their favourite pajamas in school. The students of Kindergarten wore their favourite jammies and got ready for a fun and relaxing session. They celebrated this day by watching a short movie while lying on the bed under a warm comfortable blanket holding their favourite soft toy. They also had story time where teacher told them a moral story. They enjoyed the day where they got to show their favourite bedtime toy to their friends and talk about them. BHAVANS PEARL WISODM SCHOOL MONTHLY NEWSLETTER Health and Safety First Coronavirus disease (COVID-19) is an infectious disease caused by a newly discovered coronavirus. Most people who fall sick with COVID-19 will experience mild to moderate symptoms and recover without special treatment. The virus that causes COVID-19 is mainly transmitted through droplets generated when an infected person coughs, sneezes, or exhales. These droplets are too heavy to hang in the air, and quickly fall on floors or surfaces. Abu Dhabi Department of Education and Knowledge (ADEK) in association with SEHA provided an in-school COVID-19 vaccination programme for all Abu Dhabi Private School teachers and staff. The Bhavans Pearl Wisdom School, Al Ain conducted the vaccination drive for all its teachers and other staff on Wednesday, 20th January 2021 in the school premises. All the staff who did not undergo vaccination against the Covid-19 pandemic earlier, participated in this drive with great interest. BHAVANS PEARL WISODM SCHOOL MONTHLY NEWSLETTER Makar Sankranti Makar Sankranti is the first major festival to be celebrated in India and usually takes place in January. Makar Sankranti is a major harvest festival celebrated by Hindus across India, however different states celebrated the fes- tival under different names, traditions and festivities. Students of Kindergarten celebrated this festival on 14th January 2021 by making a kite and decorating it with various colours. They also saw a video, presenting a story about the importance of Makar Sankranti and why it is celebrated. BHAVANS PEARL WISODM SCHOOL MONTHLY NEWSLETTER PRAVASI BHARATIYA DIVAS Pravasi Bharatiya Divas is a celebratory day observed on 9th January by the Republic of India to mark the contri- bution of the overseas Indian community towards the development of India. The day commemorates the return of Mahatma Gandhi from South Africa to Mumbai on 9th January 1915. Bhavans Pearl Wisdom School, Al Ain celebrated the PRAVASI BHARATIYA DIWAS on Saturday, 23rd January 2021. Mr. Mubarak Musthafa, President, ISC, Al Ain was the Chief Guest. A zoom meeting was organised on the day at 5pm, in which all the students, parents, staff members including the Director Ms. Divya Rajesh Ramachandran and Principal Dr. K T Nandakumar joined. The meeting started with the verses from holy Quran, followed by the UAE National Anthem, Indian National Anthem, school prayer and Bha- vans Anthem. Then the welcome address was delivered in which the Chief Guest was also introduced, the Princi- pal addressed the gathering highlighting the importance of the Day. Ms. Divya Rajesh Ramachandran, Director, Bhavans Middle East also addressed the gathering with special emphasis on the contributions of the NRIs towards the progress of the nation. Then the Chief Guest was honoured online with a digital memento. The Chief Guest also addressed the gathering and encouraged the students with very valuable words. There were solo dance performances by the students to entertain the audience. BHAVANS PEARL WISODOM SCHOOL MONTHLY NEWSLETTER OUR CONSTITUTION- OUR PRIDE Republic Day honors the date on which the Constitution of India came into effect on 26th January 1950 replacing the Government of India Act (1935) as the governing document of India and thus, turning the nation into a newly formed Republic. The Constitution was adopted by the Indian Constituent Assembly on 26th November 1949 and came into effect on 26th January 1950 with a democratic government system, completing the country’s transition towards becoming an independent Republic. Bhavans Pearl Wisdom School, Al Ain celebrated the INDIAN REPUBLIC DAY on Tuesday, 26th January 2021. A special online assembly was held at 8:30 am in which all the students and teachers participated. The assembly started with the verses from the holy Quran, followed by the UAE National Anthem, Indian National Anthem, school prayer and Bhavans Anthem. The students presented various cultural programmes to make the occasion a memorable one. There were group patri- otic song, solo performance of the Indian National Anthem on keyboard, quotes of various freedom fighters etc. There was a PowerPoint Presentation on the importance of the Day and drawing activity on the topic ‘72nd Republic Day of India’. Plus, dancing is a fun way to release your energy and excitement! Dance increases a child’s dexterity and physical fitness. It can help a child’s social and emotional wellbeing as well. Students of Kindergarten participated in the online Solo dance competition conducted on 23rd January 2021 and showcased their dancing talent. Students were dressed up in some amazing costumes and presented the dance on songs of various languages. It was a fun-filled and refreshing experience for not just the participants but the judg- es and audience as well. Report By Kayenat Ansari Creating MAGIC with STORIES Stories serve so many purposes in our lives. Stories are about so much more than just reading or listening. They are instrumental in cognitive, social and emotional development. Literacy begins with stories others tell us or we tell ourselves. Co-creating stories with an adult or peers helps our children and students begin to create stories they can share with others. The students of Kindergarten participated in Create your own story competition on 30th January 2021. Students created some amazing stories by adding their experience and imagination. They were dressed up according to their stories and used props to represent their story. It was an inspirational and new learning experience for all the people present to witness their performance. BHAVANS PEARL WISODM SCHOOL MONTHLY NEWSLETTER Exhibiting the Creative Side Creating art expands a child’s ability to interact with the world around them, and provides a new set of skills for self-expression and communication. Not only does art helps to develop the right side of the brain, it also cultivates important skills that benefit a child’s development. Students of Kindergarten had made a variety of art activities throughout the year and hence to showcase their talent and their amazing art work BPWS organised an online Art Exhibition on 21st January 2021. Stu- dents from all the KG classes made a small video showing their art work. These videos were merged and presented in all the classes. Students were delighted to watch their art work as well as the creativity of their friends. This inspired many students to create more art activities and enjoy them.
