Technology Innovation MAY 24-27 & JULY 4-7,2016Different “Technology Innovation Workshops” were organized for the first year students of all branches of B. Tech students.The students were divided into two slots (May 24-27, 2016 andJuly 4-7, 2016).

RADIO CHITKARA 107.8FM AIRS World Environment JUNE 5,2016 A simple hindi short skit was being aired on radio Chitkara 107.8 FM to convey the message about “Save Mother Earth”. It was directed by Dr Charu Khosla with her team from the School of Applied Sciences on the eve of World Environment Day. Orientation Day AUGUST 8-12,2016 Orientation Day is a period of time at the beginning of the academic year at a university during which a variety of events are held to orient and welcome new students.

On this day new students wereintroduced to the Differentdepartments and differentactivities, which usually held inthe university.

Innovators Meet SEPTEMBER 5,2016 Dr Jyotsna Kaushal and Ms Pooja Mahajan facilitated in 'INNOVATORS MEET-2016.'It was organised by “OPFLC(OFFICE OF PATENTFACILITATION LICENSING ANDCONSULTANCY) CURIN” inassociation with CEED for theirinnovation titled:1. PROCESS FOR PHYTOREMEDIATION USING NEPHTHYTIS.2. PORTABLE DEVICE FOR ANALYSING ADULTERATION IN MILK.

Fresher’s Party SEPTEMBER 10,2016 Fresher’s Party was organized for the first year students of Batch 2016 in which students were felicitated with the names of Mr & Ms Fresher. Various events like Ramp walk, Solo & Group performances were conducted.



Hindi Divas SEPTEMBER 21,2016Hindi Divas is an annual Literary-Day celebrated on14 September in Hindi speakingregions of India and othercountries where Hindi speakingpopulation is present.

It serves to propagate the Hindi language and its cultural heritageand value. Debate, Poem, handwriting, declamation competitionswere held in the celebration of Hindi Divas by School of AppliedSciences Department. Due to exams, it was rescheduled to 21stSeptember.



Junkousia-Vation OCTOBER 25,2016Chitkara School of Applied Sciences under the aegis of ISTE (Indian Society forTechnical Education) organizedan event “JUNKOUSIA-VATION”.

In this event students madeprojects by the use of wastematerial. The competition wasconducted under the guidanceof Ms Taruna Manchanda .

Students Achievements NOVEMBER 7,2016Dr APJ Abdul Kalam IGNITE Award isorganized every yearfor school students upto class 12 by NationalInnovation Foundationof India. Our first yearstudent MadhurGupta’s idea has beenselected among 28 best ideas out of more than 55000 ideas and31 students are awarded with this prestigious award atRashtrapati Bhavan by Honorable President of India Shri PranabMukherjee. His idea is under patent process.

Visaka Campaign For JANUARY 11,2017To promote digitization under VISAKA campaign, an initiativeof Government of India launched byHRD ministry was proved by thetrue ideation of our two of thefaculty members Dr Charu Khoslaand Ms Sreedevi, whoorganized “VISAKA ABHIYAN” bysensitize ten households andindividual members.

Expert Talk On “Water Footprint & its Importance” DECEMBER 29,2016Dr Charu Khosla presented an expert talk on “Water footprint and its importance” in Chitkara School of Nursing.

Chancellor’s Day JANUARY 16 & 18-19,2017Honourable Dr Ashok K Chitkara on the occasion of \"A Day with the Chancellor” addressing the students.

He asked the students to participate actively in club activities andprofessional associations in order to acquire leadership andpersonal skills, which are not attained through formal class orlessons but are drawn from interaction and acculturation of bestpractice. He encouraged them to enjoy their time and experiencein campus, by interacting with people from different parts of theworld, instead of being cocooned in their respective disciplinesbecause university education is a holistic experience.

Seminar JANUARY 17,2017 Dr Charu Khosla & Ms Deepika Goyal attended a Seminar, on “Building Capacities for Disaster Resilient Chandigarh” being organised by “The Chandigarh Disaster Management Authority (DMA).” Anveshan JANUARY 20-21,2017Association of IndianUniversities organized theNational Student’s ResearchConvention “ANVESHAN” ofNorth Zone in ChitkaraUniversity, Punjab. In BasicScience Sector, ChitkaraUniversity won first and thirdPosition and qualified forNational Level.

Expert Talk FEBRUARY 9,2017Dr Charu Khosla with her team presented an expert talk in theprogram “Gallan – Baatan” held On Air at Chitkara 107.8FM on“From Waste to Profits through Reduce, Recycle and Reuse”. FEBRUARY 6,2017Mr Gurmeet Singh, Science MasterGovernment H.S. Mehtan TehsilPhagwara, delivered an experttalk on how to use Geometricaltools for explaining varioustheorems to make studentsable to understand theconcept clearly.

Blood Donation Camp FEBRUARY 16,2017On the eve of Hon’ble Vice Chancellor Dr Madhu Chitkara’s Birthday, a blood donation camp was organized jointly byvarious departments. Total 215 units of blood was collected,out of which 45 units were donated by the 1st year students ofSchool of Applied Sciences.

SBST(Symbiosis Between Science And FEBRUARY 27-28,2017Department of Applied Sciences organized “SBST” under the guidance of Dr Jyotsna Kaushal.



On this occasion, an Expert lecture was delivered byMr Jaswinder Singh lecturer in Physics, in charge CircleInspection Team Circle Nabha O/O Director General SchoolEducation Punjab.



ISTE Organized Workshop On “Ethics, Education And Enthusiasm Among The Youth” MARCH 3,2017 The School of Applied Sciences under the aegis of ISTE organized one day Workshop on “Ethics, Education and Enthusiasm among the youth” in Chitkara University, Punjab campus.

Sister Alkagauri Joshi sharesix important secret ofsuccess through thesignificant examples fromthe life of the SwamiVivekananda.

ISTE Organized Workshop On Photoshop MARCH 3-4,2017Two days workshop on “Photoshop” was organized by School of Applied Sciences under the aegis of ISTE under the supervision of Ms Taruna Manchanda.

Workshop was conducted by Mr Ajay Sharma, Director,WINPAQ Computer Education and Services, Chandigarh.

World Water Day MARCH 22,2017School of Applied Sciences, ChitkaraUniversity, Punjabcelebrated World WaterDay. On this day, toconserve the water and toaware the people, aWater literacy clubwas inaugurated byDr Jyotsna Kaushal.

An expert talk on constructed Wetland was given by Dr OnkarSingh Barraich, Punjabi University to motivate students aboutwater conservation. A poster presentation and panel discussioncompetition was also held on water for sustainable development.

Students Achievements MARCH 27-29,2017Anveshan – National Level, students under the guidance of Dr Jyotsna Kaushal participated in \"Association ofIndian Universities hold the National Student’s ResearchConvention “ANVESHAN” in Annamalai University,Chidambaram, Tamil Nadu. Chitkara University won FirstPosition in Engineering Sector and second Position in BasicScience Sector on National Level.\"

Novate APRIL 14,2017Lavisha Mehndiratta, Lalit Goyal and Lavisha Rana of CSE first Year designed a Product 'Laundrocart' which was based onRFID Technology. Dr Jyotsna Kaushal and Ms Pooja Mahajanparticipated in the event “Novate”. This event comprised of threephases: first phase-Proof of Concept, second phase-POCpresentation and Third phase-Prototype and final Showdown.They Qualified for the final Phase.

Integrated Project Display APRIL 21,2017Integrated Project, 2017 was held under the guidance ofDr Jyotsna Kaushal, Deputy Dean of Applied Sciences. Studentshave actively shown interest in collaborating their project with thecombination of several subjects.



Chancellor’s Day With APRIL 29,2017Dr Jyotsna Kaushal, Deputy Dean, Department of Applied Sciences was honored for mentoring the students for“Anveshan competition” at Chancellor’s day with faculty .

Dr Jasdev Bhatti received two awards under the category of “TheTeacher’s Excellence awards”. Ms Taruna Manchanda & Dr ReetuMalhotra received the “Research Excellence Award” for thepublication of research paper in the Scopus Indexed Journal .
