What is NMG?NMG (NUCES media group) is one of the most prominent societies of NUCES-FAST. Having started its odyssey back in 2005, NMG made its way to the top in just afew years, by proving to be the most active society since then.Organizing events, whether its own or in collaboration with other societies, NMG hasbrilliantly served as the core of all societies in the university. Subsuming each and everycomponent regarding media (such as photography, journalism, literature, graphicdesigning, videography and event management).Our media group caters to the new talent by giving them a much needed platform toexpress new ideas, something that can prove to be a welcome distraction too when thecoursework threatens to go a little out of hand. 1

What is Media de Gala?Looking beyond the horizon, this year, team NMG is working towards the expansionof its network. The idea is to invite societies from institutes all over Pakistan, in orderto join hands and make this platform even more exciting.This year NMG has decided to think out of the box and take the event to an advancedlevel. The underlying theme this year for our media group is ‘technology’ and as towhy we chose that, the answer is simple enough, we intend to bridge the gap betweenthose who are incredibly familiar with the techno world and those who are at odds withthe notion of being technologically advanced. Our aim would be to provide all theparticipating clans the chance to dwell on things that are much too different from theworld of books and coursework, thereby giving them a feel of working outside the realmof classrooms, solving conflicts without prior preparation and achieving goals throughteamwork.This very idea will be incorporated in our most thrilling event: Media De' Gala --- oneof the national events conducted at FAST-NUCES Lahore. Media De’ Gala, this timearound, will be bigger and better since it is awash with events which will cater to all yourartistic, creative and media related pursuits. There will be a chance to meddle in Ad-making, live reporting, theme- based, on spot photography and much more, therebyproviding a wholesome package of learning and experience. 2

What is new this time around?These competitions will take place in the form of groups. The group with the highestpoints wins. There is a lot more to offer though so don’t miss this chance to showcaseyour talent that can end up with you walking home with exciting prizes!Previously there were colleges that were completely unaware of this event. So this yearwe want every well-known institution to be a part of it. You can help us make Mediade Gala successful by your support and participation. The whole NMG team wouldappreciate your assistance in the promotion of the event. We would like to invite thestudents from your institution to take part in the technology-themed event. We wouldlike you to use our flyers, banners and your circle in social media to help us spread theword about Media ‘de Gala 2015.The youth has changed and excelled in every department of life there is. They eat tastierfood, they wear more comfortable clothes, and they live easier lives. We cannot denythe fact that this is all because of the advancement in the field of technology. Withadvancement, came a sense of competition in the youth so NUCES Media Groupdecided to provide them with a platform for both, an event that allows the participantsto compete with each other in the ground of modernized technology. To ring this bell,NMG has increased the number of departments- adding videography and fashiondepartments- and also the number of proposed events.We intend to provide a strong base for youth to showcase their talent on a much largerstage in front of an even bigger audience. New branches that have been added in certaindepartments of NMG will also ensure diversity and high level of challenges forcontestants. The categories, events and contests are designed critically to meet theexpectations of every participant. 3

Promotional StrategiesBased upon target market research, we have created a media plan that will generate significantinterest and awareness of the event. The event would be advertised on newspapers, reaching vast majority of audience. NMG has penetrated the social networking websites, with our Facebook page having been liked by more than 3000 students from different universities all over Pakistan. Talks with City FM 89, Radio1, City 42 and Hum TV for extensive coverage of the event have already been done. Mass publicity will be done through posters that will be displayed outside various institutions and in the city streets. Teasers (videos) of the event will be posted on various social networking pages to encourage visitors and participants to come from different companies. Hashtag promotion (#) and social networking promotion will be done on Facebook, Twitter, Pring and KiaSceneHai.Extensive event sharing will be done through each and every individual involved in the organization of this event. 6
