Praxis SAU 67 Serving the Communities of Dunbarton and Bow Fall 2015 Edition
Welcome to Praxis, the first edition of SAU 67’s e-zine. Praxis: The process by which a theory, lesson, or skill is enacted, practiced, em- bodied, or realized. Successful schools, like ours, have in common the practices of strategic planning, self- reflection, and communicating their schools’ purpose and practice to their stakehold- ers. We have published strategic plans for the SAU and each of our schools, and we have created a data flier about Dunbarton and Bow that has been distributed to our re- spective town offices and libraries. This year we have begun to utilize Panorama Sur- veys to canvass our stakeholders for input on how we can continue to improve, and to- day we are debuting Praxis. SAU 67 has three guiding statements to which we connect all of our endeavors: Care for each person every day Learning is our focus Teach to touch the future This edition of Praxis is organized around these three guiding statements. We take you inside our classrooms to see the work of learning that our students engage in while in our classrooms and the lessons and learning opportunities our teachers prepare for our students. A picture is worth a thousand words, and we are hoping that this edition of Praxis will complement our other data reporting and give our communities a better view of their schools and programs. As we settle into fall, please take some time to look at and share our first edition of Praxis. On behalf of our school community we extend to our families a Happy Thanksgiving. Dean S. T.
