Kingsway ‘Community Champions’ Walking To The Moon! – L. Balfe Kingsway students, staff – and volunteers from our local community – have walked almost as far as the moon to raise money for charity. On Friday 1st April, over fifteen hundred students, staff, parents and community volunteers walked over 20 thousand miles – 13 miles each – to raise money for charity. This was Kingsway’s 12th Charity Sponsored Walk. We have been walking every two years since 1994 – clocking up a grand total of nearly a quarter of a million miles and raising almost half a million pounds for dozens of local, national and international charities. Every penny raised will be divided between three charities nominated and chosen by our students: Cystic Fibrosis Trust, Manchester Dogs’ Home and the Red Cross - as well as our sister school in Kolweny, Kenya, ‘The Kolweny-Kingsway School’. Representatives from some of the charities took part in the Myriad Foundation Community day, along with volunteers from the local community, including Cheadle Champions Award Rotary Club and the Cheadle Churches.
