Trigger Points

Trigger Points: Trigger point is an Object which is assigned to the Operation in routing in order to performcertain function. We can trigger the certain business functionality using the trigger point whenOperation or production order status are getting changed.For an example we can trigger workflow to production manager incase scrap is recorded in theproduction or we can create another order or operation when rework is recorded etc. We can onlytrigger production order relevant functions based on production order status(system/User) only. Here status is when every business functions is performed like Create Order, ReleaseOrder/Operation, and Confirm Operation are executed by the business user system set the status to theoperations and order. These are called “System Status”.i.e Status set for the Operations/Orderautomatically by the System based on function executed for the operation or Order.Apart from this “System status” we can also define our own status which is called “User status” and itbased on the business process.Example for Production Status:Order Creation -> Order Releases -> Raw material consumed->Operation confirmed-> Goods receipts forFG performed.This is standard Production order sequences. For this sequence there will be corresponding Orderstatus.CRTD -> REL -> GMPS-> CNF->DLVBelow example narrate that, Succeeding Operations are released when preceding operation isconfirmed.Steps involved in the trigger point process: 1. Create Trigger Point 2. Define trigger point functions 3. Assign trigger point to Routing Operation.

Trigger point Detail screenUsage: We can group the similar function trigger points using “Trigger point” usageTrigger Point group: we can group the trigger points which has different functionality into one group andassigned it to routing operations. This field is optional.User status Profile: It is only required when you want to execute/trigger functionality by user statusinstead of system status.Trigger point Function definition: 1. Release Succeeding operations:Let say you have operation sequences OP01->OP02->OP03->OP04As per Production process operation OP02-OP04 should not be started unless OP01 is completely done.In that case we can define the trigger point as below.

When system status of an first operation (OP-01) is changed as CNF (fully confirmed) triggerthis function as once .Here function is releasing the succeeding operations (OP02 to OP04) whichcan by system or manual . This can be activated only by system or only by manual or by both

Assign Trigger Point to Operations:Goto CA02 (Change Routing) and access menu operation overview by selecting the operation for whichyou want to assign a trigger pointMenu --- Goto -> Trigger point overview.Enter the usage and/or a description and also enter the function of the trigger point .Then Save the routing.

Look at the system status of each operation which is as “CRTD” i.e. created.Operation status in OrderOperation status after first operation released.Now Releasing first operation where trigger point is assigned. Here you can find that except firstoperation all other operation status are still “CRTD”. Only first operation is having status “REL”
