MethodologyAs of recent years, interior designers have been able to get involved at theframing stage of projects only to discover flaws in the design of the interior that couldhave been prevented had the interior design considerations been included in thebeginning. A potential solution to this problem already exists within the buildingindustry and is called the “design built” method. This method involvesaddressing the issues of integrating a job from start to finish. This approach has beendeveloped in an effort to reduce expenses as well as construction cost, whilstproviding realistic budgets and continuity throughout the project. In anydesign-built situation it is advisable that clients be considered asdesign team members or partners and may be provided with a list ofrecommendations and options so they could participate in the decision makingprocess. When an end-of phase is reached, clients may grant the designer theirapproval in a sign-off form that is to acknowledge the completed phases accordingto schedule and allowing the project to move forwards with the remaining phases.When implemented the design methodologies on hand facilitate a smoothprogression by integrating architecture, engineering, construction, interiors andlandscaping. These designs were specifically made to benefit the clients themselves.The expertise of individuals in the team is adequately proficient to tackle any arisingissue in this project. This method acts as a balance system avoiding surprises alongthe way. It allows enough time to investigate solutions to problems in advance ratherthan under pressure in the midst of construction.
