The wife, who worked at home, cooked food for the family and made their clothes. The children went to school and helped in the house. What type of homes did they live in? The emperor lived in a large palace which had many rooms and gardens. All of the rich people had a room that was like a sauna, and they washed in there. Bathing was an important part of the Aztec daily life. Poor people used to live in small huts with one or two rooms. When they were building the huts, they made the roofs with the leaves of palm trees. They had gardens near their homes and they grew vegetables and flowers there. That’s because when you practise an instrument, your brain develops; it becomes ‘fitter’, the same way an athlete becomes fitter when they train.
