It is summer. Grasshopper is happy. Every day he dances and he plays. 5

Look at these ants. They are hot and they are tired. 6

‘Hello ants,’ says Grasshopper. ‘Sit down.’ ‘No, sorry’ says Daddy Ant. ‘We’re busy.’ 7

‘Let’s sing. Let’s dance,’ says Grasshopper. ‘No, sorry,’ says Mummy Ant. ‘We’re busy.’ 8

‘It’s summer. Summer is fun. Why are the ants busy?’ says Grasshopper. 9

Grasshopper runs after the ants. 10

The ants have got baskets. There is corn in the baskets. 11

‘What’s that?’ says Grasshopper. ‘It’s corn. It’s food for the winter.’ says Daddy Ant. 12

Grasshopper laughs. ‘You’re silly! It isn’t winter now!’ he says. ‘It’s summer. Let’s play!’ 13

‘No, sorry,’ says Mummy Ant. ‘We must plan for winter.’ 14

The ants are at home. They have got lots of corn. 15

Now it is autumn. There isn’t any food. 16
