About ELTC
Our Mission The mission of the English Language Training Center is to offer, within an English- speaking environment, the training in English language skills which will help participants achieve their academic, personal, and social goals.
The English Language Training Center focuses on developing the following areas: Listening and Speaking Grammar Academic Writing Conversation and Speech Presentations Reading and Vocabulary Development Individualized Computer Lab Sessions
Program Goals Train students in the English language to a level sufficient for successful entry and completion of a college degree program. Provide intensive oral and written communication instruction and practices to facilitate a smooth transition into undergraduate or graduate academic programs. Integrate students into the academic, social and cultural life of the university to give them a full and enriching study abroad experience. Provide each student with the opportunity to be immersed in an English-speaking environment by interacting with American students in the dorms, social clubs, and dining halls as well as at university events such as football, volleyball and basketball games, concerts, carnivals, and much more!
Key to Success Strong academic content and activities in the areas of conversation, vocabulary, pronunciation, academic listening, note-taking, grammar, speech presentation, academic reading, essay writing and research writing Language laboratory programs that reinforce reading comprehension, vocabulary, listening, pronunciation, and conversational skills Small-size groups to enhance interaction between instructors and students Participants’ dedication and strong desire to learn

Bacterial Meningitis Vaccination Requirement The state of Texas requires all students under age 22 entering an institution of higher education to provide current proof of the vaccination against bacterial meningitis. Students will not be able to complete their residence hall check-in or attend classes without documentation verifying that they have received this shot at least 10 days prior to moving into the residence halls or attending their first class.
Housing Options
Off-Campus Housing Students choosing to stay off campus must make arrangements to secure their own housing. Be advised that Kingsville does not have a public transportation system*, and most apartment complexes require leases of at least 6 months to one year. Apartments may or may not be furnished. *Texas A&M University-Kingsville provides a campus-based shuttle system, B&G Express Shuttle, for students.

Application Process
Applying to ELTC Students who require an F1 visa must provide: ELTC application for admission. Copy of their valid passport (the picture page) Proof of financial solvency: a letter of financial support issued by the bank The $175.00 fee for application processing and deposit payment via Market Place (https://moneyconnect.tamuk.edu/C20209_ustores/web/product_detail.jsp?PRODUCTID=978)
Financial Guarantee The Letter of Financial Support must include the account balance that meets or exceeds the cost for attending the program. The cost includes tuition, health insurance, living expenses, and other expenses associated while studying in the U.S. The minimum amount varies depending on the length of program. Estimates Cost 16-week program - $9,950 USD. 8-week program - $4,950 USD. 4-week program - $2,950 USD.
Application Deadlines Students requiring an F1 visa are encouraged to submit all paperwork as soon as possible to ensure that there will be enough time to issue immigration paperwork, mail/receive documents, and make necessary arrangements for appointments and payments to obtain an F-1 Visa. TOEFL WAIVER For academically qualified students Students do not need to take the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) Students will work towards their English language proficiency by attending English classes with ELTC for one or more semester Students enroll in the program of their choice and take classes required for their degree plan
TOEFL WAIVER For TAMUK Academic Program upon Completion of Advanced Level Program at ELTC. After successful completion of the Intensive English Program at ELTC, students will be exempt from the TOEFL/IELTS requirement for admissions to academic programs of Texas A&M University-Kingsville. http://www.tamuk.edu
