One day, a deer comes out to look for food. A fox sees the deer from far away. 1

The fox wants to catch the deer. At last he has an idea. He lies on a path and pretends to be dead. 2

The fox thinks, \"When the deer comes near me, I will pounce on him. I will get good food to eat without trying hard\". 3

The deer is not aware of the fox. He carries on looking for food. He walks along the path. 4

The deer is getting nearer to the fox. Sudennly, a rat looks out from a bush near the path. 5

The rat says to the deer, \"Don't walk any further. There is a fox waiting for you\". 6

The deer says , \"It's all right. The fox is dead\". \"The fox isn't dead,\" says the rat. 7

The deer does not walk any further. He looks at the fox, feeling worried. 8

The rat purposely says loudly, \" If the fox is dead, his mouth should be wide open. Why is the fox's mouth tightly shut?\". 9

The fox hears what the rat says. He quickly opens his mouth. Then the rat says quietly to the deer, \" Can't you see that the fox is pretending to be dead?\". 10

At that moment, the1d1eer knows that the fox is not dead. He knows that the fox wants to catch him. 11

The deer turns to the1r1at and says, \"Thank you! If you had not helped me, I would have been fooled by the fox's trick\". 12
