AERATION FOR SPRINGCourse wide aeration is approaching. The golf course will be closed onMay 11th and May 12th to completeaeration on greens, tees, fairways, and rough. This spring aeration willinclude pulling cores from allsurfaces. This removal of thatch andheavy clay allow the roots or our turfto better uptake water, oxygen andnutrients. Aerating will certainly helpwith summer conditions. Aerationalso keeps chemical and fertilizercost lower than they would bewithout aeration. Over the two daysof aeration the staff will attempt toclean up all cores and have most ofthe aeration and clean up completedby the opening of the golf course onthe 13th. It is likely that we’ll needsome additional time during theweek to complete all clean up. Weappreciate your understanding andpatience during this necessaryprocess.

“Ask Andrew”Question: What should I expect to see as the Club prepares for the upcoming NCAA Western Regionals?Answer: The NCAA Regional tournaments are a big deal, as the teams participating were announced on the Golf Channel! There willbe 18 teams and 6 individuals competing who are some of the best players in the country. You will see several of these players onthe LPGA in the near future. For the players that don’t make the finals their experience at Entrada will be their final memory ofplaying college golf. The yardages and hole locations have already been selected. Ross and his staff will try to avoid these areas so they do not see toomuch traffic leading up to the tournament, so you might see some unusual tee and hole locations. Also, to reduce overall cart trafficon the course Ross might rope off a few holes just a couple of days before the event. For those interested in viewing the tournament all spectator carts including private member carts are not allowed on the course. The Tournament Committee Chairman sent me a very nice email about how excited they are to be holding this event at Entradaand thanking the members for everything. Doug Roberts Golf Tip-Traits of Great Putters Putting is the area of golf where amateurs have the best opportunity to become as efficient asprofessional tour players. Why? We're just rolling the ball along the ground, right?!? Let's examine a fewtraits this week that great putters possess and organize them with an eye towards a pre-shot routine.Great putters have acquired an above average ability to read and judge the slope in all of the quadrants of thegreen accurately before they stand on the green.Great putters continue to see the correct line during their setup and subconsciously during their swing. Theiraim and alignment react individually to their perception of line.Great putters control the speed and distance of their golf ball with the proper grip pressure; using the tempothat matches their personality and by making center face contact.Great putters have a repeatable stroke that delivers a smooth rolling golf ball that starts down their intendedline of play.Great putters know they are great putters. Their attitude sets them apart. They choose to be confident and stayconfident during challenges. They love to putt. They understand that a good putt doesn't always fall into the hole. A good putt is one thatstarts off with the speed that the player wanted and leaves the putter head tracking along the line that the playerenvisioned. If the player has achieved these twothings, they know it was a good putt.Prince Cup Club Championship Results Congratulations Lee Peters Hole in One!!Men’s Gross Champion-Doug Larson 4/29/2105 during MEGALadies Gross Champion-Cheryl Berg Hole #5Men’s Net Champion-Don BunchLadies Net Champion-Sandy MongoldMen’s Senior Champion-Jay PhillipsMen’s First Flight Winner-John TowellMen’s Second Flight Winner-Joe MongoldELGA Winners 4/21/15Cheryl Berg, Dara Tancredi, Denise Schwab, Mary HerzigMEGA Winners 4/22/15Jerry Youngblood, Dick McCann, Lee Peters, Dick Elliott

DRU When I received my Breast Cancer diagnosis last September, my doctors also gave me two invaluable pieces of advice. The first was to stay in my life as much as humanly possible. The second was to be as active as I could be. Those directives have been my guiding lights throughout treatment. Which means the Fitness Center here at Entrada has been a central focus. I’ve always been too lazy to work out on my own, so fitness classes are a way of life for me. During treatment, classes with friends and acquaintances took on an even greater significance. Classes became my “Cheers Bar’, a place where everyone knew my name, where everyone was encouraging and supportive.Classes have been an important part of feeling that I’m staying in my life. Ondays during my 16 weeks of chemo when I didn’t feel good enough to be inclass, the rowing machine was a staple. It felt like a total workout and I didn’thave to be on my feet. Treadmills and elipticals are good for cardio on gooddays. Some days, sitting down during my workout was the only way I could doit. Set the rower at an intensity of 10 and row for 30 minutes. It definitely givesyou a workout.Phyllis Winkler told me she thought three things were contributing to mysuccess. Faith, Fitness and Attitude. The Fitness Center at Entrada – the staff, the instructors and my fellow exercisers - have helped me maintain both myfitness and the all-important positive attitude.
