Message from the General ManagerDear Entrada Member,Executive Chef PositionAs you know, on October 7th our newly selected chef, Jeff Littlefield, resigned without notice. The following day our Sous Chef Jarrett Sturdevantresigned out of frustration from Jeff's resignation. Troon corporate F&Bleaders were immediately contacted and consulted. A short-term plan to bringin a Troon culinary team was developed and implemented with six chefs/ linecooks brought in to stabilize the F&B operations. Of this group, four highlyqualified chefs were interested in being considered for the Executive Chefposition. Over the past few weeks we have been able to observe each of thecandidates interact with line cooks, servers and members, taste their foodcreations and have more in depth conversations with each.As a result of this process, we feel we have identified a highly qualifiedexecutive chef for Entrada. Today I'd like to announce that Mr. Serge Gongorahas been selected as our new executive chef beginning immediately. ChefSerge (or \"Power Serge\" as some like to call him) is very passionate aboutcooking, has extensive schooling and training in French cuisine and loves to\"freshen\" the standard favorites through creativity, fresh ingredients and loweruse of fats (cream and butter). His past experience includes The Gallery GolfClub, Tucson, AZ; Las Vegas Country Club, Hotel Paris (Eiffel TowerRestaurant), Le Bouchon Restaurant, Portland, OR. Please join me inwelcoming Serge Gongora to Entrada. The Grille at EntradaThank you all for your many submissions in the \"great naming\" contestfor our new grill/ bar area. The winning name is simple and direct,\"The Grille at Entrada\".The construction process is moving along, albeit slower than we had hoped for.By the end of this week the wall plastering and texturing should be completeas well as the installation of the slate flooring. Application of a color enhancerand sealant will be applied to the slate next week. The final pieces of thewindow framing are to be installed later this week and the bar counter top isbeing installed as I write this message. Assuming we can maintain thecompletion schedule, we are planning to have a soft opening of The Grille atEntrada on Wednesday, November 18th. More details and information will beforthcoming.

Doug Roberts Golf Tip Driver – Stance and Head PositionWith regards to a proper athletic stance when hitting your driver, I liketo have the player space their feet slightly wider than the width of theirshoulders. In a lesson, I will measure the width of the student'sshoulders by using a alignment stick or a golf shaft. I will then placethis stick on the ground and have the player position their feet slightlywider than what we measured. This allows the player to be moreathletic with their lower body during the swing. When setting up to play a driver, the player should feel that their head ispositioned slightly behind the ball. Try this easy feel. Take your stancewith your driver. Now, slightly lower your trail hip an inch below yourlead hip. This will produce a tilt in your spine from top to bottom awayfrom your target. This slight spine tilt away from the target will positionyour head slightly behind your golf ball. This will help produce thecorrect swing angle to your ball for a good starting launch with yourdriver.MEGA Results 10/21/2015Format: 2 Man Net Best Ball1st FlightTie 1st-64 John Smith/Brandon Lyon, Rich Plante/Bob Haskin $25 eachTie 3rd-69 Bill O'Keefe/Rich Chodroff, Mike Jones/Grant Bishop $7.50 each2nd FlightTie 1st-63 Bob Lovett/Don Simon, Tim Nelson/David Davenport $25 each3rd -66 Dick McCann/Jack Hoffman $15 eachELGA Results 10/20/15Format: 2-Person Best Ball1st Flight1st-64 Veda Barrie, Gail Milligan $15 eachTie 2nd-67 Carrie Larson, Vicky Milliken &Cindy Davis, Linda Kimbrell $5 each2nd FlightTie 1st-67 Robyne Kintz, Gayle George &Kaye Burnham, Min-Sun Troyer $12.50eachSignup for “Nightgolf” 9 & Dine and thePrickly Pair Couples Club Championship!!
OUR FINE FACILITY We all can agree that our Entrada fitness programs produce results and that having this fine facility and staff is a huge benefit, but not everyone takes advantage of what Entrada has to offer. Outside Magazine in August and October of 2012 published studies to verify that Cycling, spin and outdoor workouts improves muscle tone, overall fitness and burns fat, even at low intensity. The Week magazine, 10/23/2015, concludes that 30 minutes a day of moderate intensity exercise was beneficial, but that double or four times the effort produced significant improvement in cardiovascular health and appearance. It is best to add as much variety to your cardio workouts as you can; staying away from a steady state (riding one speed the whole hour at one level of resistance); rather, change up your ride or treadmill walk often. Do intervals, change your speed, up your resistance…Taking an indoor cycle class or Sole Treading class will alleviate the guess work and inspire you with exceptional music! Putting the fun back into your workout. Conclusion: Adding in a regimen of spin, street/trail cycling, or Treadmill to your other formats will not only add strength and tone to your lower body, but will also better your cardiovascular conditioning improving your ability to burn more fat at rest. Entrada has an amazing staff, a great facility and enjoys an environment of comradery to inspire you to meet your goals. Happy Trails! Ann Topalian - Sports and Fitness Director FROSTY FAIRWAYSOver the next few weeks we will be experiencing conditions that have the possibility of creating frost onour turf. At 45 degrees we begin seeing frost accumulate on our rough and some fairways. The ability tofreeze water at 45 degrees is something truly amazing, but the short answer in why frost forms at 45degrees is that it does not. Water freezes at 32 degrees Fahrenheit and always will. The low density of airis able to hold heat from the day while higher density objects that face toward outer space are less able tohold heat at their surface. This could explain why the higher density rough has frost earlier and more oftenthan the greens. The logic of objects facing outer space is also interesting as your roof may have frost butthe side of your house or side of your car has none. Heat is lost at a higher rate on objects facing outerspace. At the end of the day the air and surface temperature is certainly below 32 degrees because wehave ice forming, but it’s interesting that there can be a significant difference between dense objects andair temperature measured 10 feet above the surface. During the winter we will take surface temperaturesand test the theory of frost in our particular situation.Ross Laubscher - Argonomist
