We have received severalemails supporting this policy and several emails in opposition of the new policy. In developing the policy wecontacted a number of private country clubs as well as a community association to ascertain their policy withrespect to unaccompanied guests. Each organization we contacted stated that family members and guests mustbe accompanied by a member in order to use the organization’s facilities. However, based on the memberfeedback we have received, the Board has decided to defer the implementation of the unaccompanied guest policyuntil September 1, 2015. Between now and then, we intend to have the Sports and Fitness and Membershipcommittees review the policy given the concerns members have raised. We would appreciate receivingconstructive ideas of how the policy can be modified while still maintaining our private country club standards forthe benefit of our members.Upcoming EventsI would like to thank all the members who were involved in making the BYU at Entrada Classic a resoundingsuccess by opening up your homes to the contestants or volunteering your time to be a scorer or hole spotter.THANK YOU!Over the next two months there are plenty of events that I hope you will consider participating in. There is oneevent in particular that I believe will be quite entertaining. On April 21st our fictitious “Red Rock Night Club” will bepresenting “MENTAL MANIA” starring Mark Stone. i MAINTENANCE MONDAY At Entrada the golf course is closed until noon on Mondays during the fall, winter, and spring and closed all day on Mondays during the summer months. This closure allows the maintenance staff to mow the driving range and complete other tasks on the golf course without interruption. One of our goals is to complete most mowing during the week and on Monday without golfers everseeing a mower during their round. Most of our day is scheduled around golf. Our daily schedule utilizes differentsections of the golf course to avoid putting staff in the way of golf. Being closed Monday morning or the entire dayhelps with completing as many tasks as possible that would otherwise disrupt play on the rest of the days of theweek. We also utilize staff in other ways on Mondays. We do not schedule staff to mow greens, rake bunkers, or move tee markers……tasks that are completed Tuesday-Sunday. This allows the 6 staff members regularly scheduled on that work to be used on other duties. It also gives the greens a break from the daily mowing they usually receive. Maintenance Mondays allow the staff to complete some cultural practices such as topdressing, verti-cutting, aerifying, and other practices that are disruptive to playing surfaces. The goal of the staff is that by the first tee time on TUESDAY any disruption of playing surfaces is minimal. This is where the Monday disclaimer comes into play. If a member or guest schedules a tee time for Monday afternoon they should expect the worst. Greens will be slow….they are not cuton Mondays. Bunkers will not be raked. Tee markersmay not even be on the tees!! Things will be out of place, but hopefully back in place by Tuesday morning. If amember is looking to bring a guest out to play theirbeautiful golf course, Monday is probably not the bestday to showcase it. Ross Laubscher Director of Agronomy [email protected]

“Ask Andrew” iQuestion-What is the dress code at Entrada for the golf course?Answer-Appropriate golf attire reflecting a respect for the tradition of the game, as well as consideration for others isrequired on the golf course and practice facilities at Entrada.Men: Collared polo shirts and mock turtleneck (minimum 1 1/2\" collar) with tucked in shirttails, camp-style shirts, slacks or Bermuda length shorts, golf caps with a bill must be worn with the bill facing forward.Women: Polo or modest golf-style shirts, slacks, skirts, skorts, capri-length pants, or golf style shortsFootwear: Golf (soft-spikes only) or tennis shoes are requiredNot acceptable: Blue denim fabric, swimming or fitness attire Director of Golf Andrew Hopkins-Payne Uneven Lies – First Condition “Ball above our feet” By Doug Roberts - Director of Golf Instruction When we find our golf ball has ended up in an uneven lie, we should consider the next shot to be a recoveryshot. By that I mean, let's not magnify our first mistake by being foolish on our next shot. It is possible to be smart& conservative in our recovery strategy while still being aggressive and confident during our swing. For any of these uneven lies, the player should feel “level” to the earth's slope with their setup. To be“level” in your setup you should align your hips and shoulders level to the slope. When the ball is above our feet, this simply means to lessen our forward bend to the ball. (Stand a bit taller) Take a practice swing and determine where the low point of your swing is going to be. Position the ball justbefore this low point occurs. For a right-handed golfer, when the ball lies above our feet, the initial launch angle of our ball flight willtend to start left of our intended target line. This is magnified if we are using a very lofted club such as anywedge. Use a longer club than normal. One club longer on a mild slope, two clubs longer on a more severeslope. Use a ¾ length swing to ensure good balance and center face contact. Aim right accordingly. (less with longirons, more with short irons) and swing within yourself with good rhythm.ELGA Guest Day results 3/24/151st Place-Cheryl Berg/Julie Stockham, Laura Blackman/Cheryl Streitz, Melinda Elliott/Patricia Hickman, Phyllis Winkler/Pamela ReynoldsMEGA Winners 3/18/15 Director of Golf InstructionRich Plante/John Smith, Don Cannon/Lee Peters Doug Roberts
