IMPORTANCE of ENGLISH in MARITIME INDUSTRY The maritime industry is a large scale industry with various aspects involved. When it comes to maritime industry, it certainly covers not only the region of Indonesia but also the world in its activities because it’s international. To that end, it is important that we acquire English so that we can have good and effective communication when we become part of that maritime industry.
The shipping industrty is not even tied to a particular country or region. It’s international, therefore, there are people who come from different nationalities in one ship. Because English is a universal language, it’s the only way sailors can effectively communicate with each other. Therefore, learning proper English usage was essential, especially for young apprentices.
Within the maritime industry, there was delivery of goods, wheter of the domestic or foreign scale. In the event, of course it passes through various processes from the start of the factory to the receiving hand and inevitably needs paperwork from the process, some of the documents msut be in English so that the ability of the English would be needed by any aspect involved in maritim industrial activities.
SELF COMPETENCE to PREPARE WORKING in THE WORLWIDE INDUSTRIES ESPECIALLY PORT MANAGEMENT and ADMINISTRATION As we know, this maritime industry is a major, international industry of which there are, of curse, more and more jobs available in this increasingly developed and developing area. The more jobs available, of course, the more competition will be intense, as someone from anywhere in the world is racing to fill opportunities in that line of work.
I personally wanted to be part of the maritime industry, so I prepared myself from now on by starting at Yogyakarta Maritime College. This way my experience in learning of anger because from Junior High School to Senior High School I was studying in a public school and did not have any background. In so doing, I will maximize myself for this good opportunity that I get by studying seriously, looking for a positive circle of
friendship, being active in learning, participating in activities outside the learning process that can support my abilities, seeking knowledge outside the classroom, and communicating well with everyone in this High School, because I am sure that in the future there will be many from any agencywho will become my competitors in the world of work later.
PERSONAL PLANS and ASPIRATION TALK ABOUT CAREER DEVELOPMENT My personal plan as a cadet at Yogyakarta’s Maritime High School was, of course to search for as much knowledge and experience as possible about the maritime industry. More specifically, her I am majoring in Marine Transportation Management because my background is from the departement of language and culture and I want to take a major according to what is still within my scope.
Here I gained more knowledge about port management and administration so that I was given a lot knowledge about the relevant agancies involved in the maritime industry. In addition, I also obtained some supproting knowledge such as taxation, accounting, information technology, and so on which could help me later when I became an employe in the maritime industry.
Of course, when I was in the Yogyakarta Maritime High School, I met Lecturers, seniors, and my comrades in arms who came from various regions and had a strong determination and good vision just like me, so I adjusted myself to be able to have good relations with all my friends so that we can share enthusiasm, exchange ideas and experiences with each other and of course so that I can add my relationships to make it easier for me when looking for work later after graduating from this college.
When talking about future plans, of course I want to be a part of the relevant agencies engaged in port management and administration, but I will try first to test the recruitment of civil servants related to the maritime industry as well, namely the transportation service. My ambition above is one of my motivations to study harder and seek as much experience as possible and seek the certificates needed to increase my competence before I enter the world of work.
THE OTHER POINT and CONCLUTION The maritime industry consists of the sector ship design, ship construction, nautical manufacturing vessel operations and ship repair. This sector is suppported by small industies of energy services and other technical services that absorb much of the private, government and associated colleges. The development of the Indonesian maritime industry needs to be stricly followed in the 4.0 industrial revolution that emphasized the processes of the manufacturing technology revolution that had a significant impact on human patterns and work.
The concept is the implementation of various across science industrial operations supported by information technology for increased productivity and quality. The conclusion is, the maritime indsutry is a large and international one. It included a tremendous amount of activity by some contribute to the success of this maritime industry.
Thus, of course, there will be many job opportunities in the maritime industry. As a cadet at the Yogyakarta Maritime High School, I have a strong vision and determination that in the future I can be a part of working in the maritime industry, so I am preparing myselffrom now on to be able to achieve my goals by studying hard and seeking experienceas as much as possible and look for the certificates needed to increase my competence before I enter to the world of work.
