Deur Readers / Liewe Lesers November is traditionally the month set aside on the calendar for issues in respect of men’s health and therefore the month has become famous for the Men’s Health Month which encourages men to grow moustaches as a manifestation of their support for men’s health, however, for me the arrival of November sparks the excitement for the month of Christmas to come. November announces all the Christmas decorations in the shopping malls and local shops, and my mailbox is usually full of Christmassy brochures, loaded with gift ideas and special offers on Christmas gifts. I like to think of November as pre-Christmas, the preparation period for the mystical month of Christmas to come. November 2021 is still a reminder of the presence of the Corona virus and although it is also now Mens Health Month, the wearing of masks will once again, as the case was in 2020, hide the fact that there will be moustaches on show on every single male upper lip. It seems that the Corona virus is here to stay and although it has become a new normal at some stage it has now become the norm. It is November, the rains have started falling and we have experienced a few old-fashioned Highveld thunderstorms… summer is here, so is the end of another year, the month of Men’s Health, my own personal pre-Christmas experience and for most of us just the ordinary almost end of another year.
