25THE QUILLMarch Edition 2022THE NGP SCHOOL'SThe Power ofDoing - Nothing!Sometimes, life doesn’t seem like a fairy tale. It might seem likea thriller story where you aren’t sure how to put the piecesof the riddle together. Things just don’t work out the way itwas planned. All your emotions build up inside your mind andyou never know when you’re about to explode. You might seemalright after you’ve let your emotions out, but what is missingis the power to control whatever is going on in that busy mindof yours. You will be able to gain complete control of yourmind only when you do ‘nothing’. Nothing literally means‘nothing’. Just sit down with your eyes closed and do not thinkabout anything. In other words, meditate! There are a large number of benefits when one meditates. Theperson is able to concentrate better and the entirefunctioning of the body happens effectively. Meditation helpsus drive away the negative thoughts and make some space forpositive ones. Meditation gives us the clarity we need in everysingle aspect of our lives. It helps us live in reality andprevents us from getting tangled in the world of illusions. Youtend to find true happiness and learn to detach yourself fromanything that doesn’t give you joy and inner peace.

Types of meditation: 1. Spiritual meditation- Meditation is an essential part of Eastern spiritual traditions such as Buddhism,Taoism, and Hinduism. Depending upon the tradition, this type of meditationincludes elements of silent, spoken, or chanted prayer. Spiritual meditation canhelp us develop qualities of benevolence and optimism.2. Mindfulness meditation- This technique is based on the teachings of Buddha. This type of meditationhelps us understand the functioning of our minds. This practice helps us toovercome impatience, dissatisfaction, intolerance and other characteristicsthat prevent us from living joyfully. The major element of this practice isbreathing.3. Movement meditation- This practice focuses on the functioning of the body when in motion. Thistechnique can also be associated with yoga, Tai chi and other martial arts. Themovement of your body is the object of this type of meditation. 4. Focused meditation- In this technique, we put our focus on whatever we aredoing into complete action. This type of meditation helps us get clarity in ourthoughts and helps to declutter the mind.5. Visualization meditation- This technique is based upon our imagination/visualization skills. Thinkingabout beautiful sceneries will bring inner peace to the meditator. Using thispower, we will be able to positively develop ourselves and transform thenegative thoughts into positive ones.THE QUILLMarch Edition 2022THE NGP SCHOOL'SThe Power ofDoing - Nothing!

6. Chanting meditation- In this technique, the person focuses on the chanting ofmantras/words. Chanting mantras helps to clear our mindsand gradually, this practice cultivates the peaceful andalert state of mind.Whatever form of meditation you choose, you will discoverthat being committed to it transforms you into a peacefuland happy human being. You will be able to develop therelationships you have with people andwith the environment around you. Trust me, twenty minutesof doing nothing, does magic to your life. Doing ‘nothing’will help channelize your energy systems and you will beable to have positive outlooks oneven the twisted situation life gives you. Life is a one timeexperience so why not experience it peacefully.27THE QUILLMarch Edition 2022THE NGP SCHOOL'SDOINGNOTHINGThe POWER ofWriter:M. Thanushhri, 12A

THE QUILLMarch Edition 2022THE NGP SCHOOL'S “THERE IS NO FRIEND AS LOYALAS A BOOK” -ERNEST HEMINGWAYbooksBooks help in increasing our knowledge in any field.Reading books is 0f course, an excellent habit. Theyexhort us to imagine anything and reading them makesus very creative. Reading books is very effective andavailing. It turns us intellectuals! Developing readingskills is very important. Reading books of any genre likescience fiction, mythology, non-fiction, etc. helps developawareness about many captivating topics. It also helpsin developing our thinking skills.

THE QUILLMarch Edition 2022THE NGP SCHOOL'SIt not only makes us sharp-witted but helps inincreasing our level of concentration in any activitiesthat we do too. Reading books about self-help and thelife journeys of famous personalities help us think ofnumerous ways by which we can better ourselves.Reading books also improves our skills and knowledgerelated to the particular language in which the bookwas written. THE QUILLMarch Edition 2022THE NGP SCHOOL'SHave you ever felt cock-a-hoop when you study?Nowadays, most people are placing more significance oneducation, but only a few of them actually care and lovewhat they are learning. Perhaps showing more interest andloving the art of learning could produce more efficiency inour academics. In my opinion, joy plays a very significantrole in learning. I once read the article “ \"Joy\": A Subject Schools Lack ”that was written by Susan Engel. Engel talks aboutstudents, like us, having their own way of learning. We canenhance our capacity to learn by reading her book.Obtaining pleasure from learning is natural for us, and itis in our innate ability to absorb information quickly. Let me give an instance in my life that helped change myview on a subject that many, including me in the past, considered hard. It was because of my teacher's initiativeback in primary school that I found happiness in doingMaths. I felt relaxed to solve those problems and didpretty well in all my Maths tests. As a result, I didn’t feelpressurised or stressed, rather it was fun. I almost alwaysgot full marks every time when I was still in primaryschool. The Joy in Learning21

Once the joy for doing a task is cultivated, it never dies.Even now I like studying Maths, just because I lovedmaths when I was in primary school. According to theauthoritative figures, it is very hard for students to learnquickly because they don’t have any elation when theyare learning. It is very important for students to try andget delight from learning. Since joy can boost our attention and improve ourefficiency, why not give it a chance and change the waywe view our books to gain a better understanding of thesubject and gain more knowledge in a shorter time?THE QUILLMarch Edition 2022THE NGP SCHOOL'S LEARNINGThe Joy in-Produced byHarshitha, Grade 822

History classes are usually boring for most of us,but what if I say that there are histories whichcontain mind blowing mysteries? Yes, many of usmust have heard about the cone shaped pyramidswhich once glowed like diamonds! When we say pyramids, we get the visual of theone in Giza. Jon Taylor, a researcher, had notedthat this pyramid was built in the base of pi. Somepyramids are said to be aligned to twoconstellations, the big and the little dipper.THE QUILLMarch Edition 2022THE NGP SCHOOL'S HISTORYThe Mystery of23

Speaking of dry places like these, do places withwater also contain any mystery? Of course they do! Like the long sunk continent of Tamil people, theLemuria which is doubted to be the first place beforeAfrica where civilization began! Also we must have heard about the movie Pirates ofCaribbean where giant squids called kraken attackthem! Similar to this, many people have been said tohave seen this! Isn’t this creeping you guys out!!THE QUILLMarch Edition 2022THE NGP SCHOOL'S HISTORYThe Mystery of24

We spoke of mysteries in the land and sea, butwhat about space? It has lots of unsolvedmysteries which crack the brains of scientists. Forexample, the reheating of the sun's corona on itsown is still unknown. We humans have a lot to discover about ourplanet and about ourselves too. Involve yourself inthese historic stories and help solve these mysteries.THE QUILLMarch Edition 2022THE NGP SCHOOL'S HISTORYThe Mystery of-Theory by:Naren, Grade 1025

Instead, is it better to negotiate, live and let others live??Always just remember that if non violence can get usindependence, then this matter is never a challenge. Pacifism can help our society to a larger extent. It canprevent us from feeling guilty, help us gain respect, make usa responsible citizen, maintain peace in the society and soon…To sum up, I trust that non-violence should always have anupper hand as the gains are immense. Moreover, filling thisEarth with the power of Ahimsa is required in this present-day world. You listen to music and to crashing waves.Listen to lies clueless and in vain. You endurethe pain of listening to others talk about theirmiseries. Listen to those speeches ofinspirations that never quite make sense. Youlisten to peers who often make your tears.Listen to reports that only highlight your flaws.Listen to locks that never open, listen to beatsthat never bring hope . Laugh at the jokes youhate, weep at the secrets you love.Promise for fakes and live up true to say. But,there is one sound your ear fails to hear, onevoice you never do adhere.THE QUILLMarch Edition 2022THE NGP SCHOOL'S UNHEARD VOICEListen to that31

The voice within, the conscience of yours, theheart’s solo song that still sings in thebackground. It was and will always stay, thoughto you silence seems to make the day. But thevoice within is only real, nothing else , that's allan illusion , untrue. You make up stories, excusesand cling to false hopes that never call you fromwithin. Why not let your door open up, unlock thatnoise that was always yours, and yours alone toown. Hear its syllables keenly, let your earssoak up that tune. .Let that tune decide what's true, let its harmonygive you the clue.
