(5)SATYAKAM DUTTA Class 4A I am Satyakam Dutta. I study in KV IIT Guwahati in class 4A. I shall play the role of a plastic in the play ‘plastic waste’ written by my mother. Satyakam: Hi Debadrita!! Let’s play. Debadrita: No, no. I can’t. My mom told me not to play with You. You are plastic. You are bad. S: No,No…I ain’t. I am a good plastic. You people are fools. You don’t know how to use me so you are defaming me. D: What does that mean? S: Some plastics are relatively safe to be used in everyday life and these can be recycled too, as I am. So, we are good plastics. But some good plastics can not be recycled, although these can be safely used for one time. D: So, what causes plastic waste then and how can we get Rid of this as much as possible? S: Actually it is quite impossible to live a plastic free life in the modern era. So we should know how to use it in a proper way and we should avoid the use of plastic when this is absolutely not needed. These are the rules to be followed: 1. Avoid the use of plastic, especially in the kitchen, if not absolutely needed. 2. Good plastics like me can be used, if needed. But don’t Use me more than once if I am made for single use. 3. Don’t use me in microwave oven. I shall become a bad boy then. It isn’t my fault, you know!! The plastic processing involves certain chemicals which can leach into foodstuffs then. 3. Use the alternatives of the bad plastics. These bad plastics are not recyclable and sometimes they are not safe to be used even a single time. D: Ohh!! Now, I understand.
