Preface Springboard—An Integrated Semester Course for LKG and UKG comprises a set of four books (two for each level) comprising the core subjects—English, Mathematics, and Environmental Studies (EVS). These books are child-friendly and offer a multi-sensory learning experience for young learners by stimulating their cognitive and psychomotor skills. The contents are well-graded and level-specific with in-built activities to make learning a joyful experience. Key Features R Well-structured and graded introduction of concepts R Interesting activities and exercises for better understanding and easy recapitulation of the concepts learnt R Child-centric approach facilitates holistic development through the following: k Talk time—encourages oral communication skills k Rhymes/Stories—development of phonic and vocabulary skills k Activities/Free Play Time—enhances motor skills, communication skills, social skills, and analytical skills 3

In addition, the following areas are also covered in each subject: ENGLISH R The contents focus on the four basic skills of Listening, Speaking, Reading, and Writing. R Action songs and miming exercises help in development of motor skills (fine and gross). MATHEMATICS R Early mathematical skills—both pre-number and numerical skills have been introduced. R Revision exercises are provided to aid in recapitulation of topics learnt. ENVIRONMENTAL STUDIES (EVS) R The topics discussed introduce the learner to his/her immediate environment. They also focus on the learner’s language and vocabulary skills. R Rhymes and activities are included, wherever required, to aid in the learning process. TEACHER’S RESOURCES A comprehensive Teacher’s Resource Book with digital support is available. Digital support includes e-book embedded with audio and animations, wherever required, interactive activities, and printable activity and writing pages.
