Litany LEADER: The work of a teacher, in dealing with young minds, is the nicest work ever assumed by men and women. In order to do this work, teachers must understand the way children should go. This embraces not merely having a knowledge of books; it encapsulates everything that is good, virtuous, righteous and holy. It demands the practice of temperance, godliness, brotherly kindness and love to God and to one another. As one of God’s noblest professions, Jesus Himself became a model teacher to show the world what God is like and what He requires of its inhabitants. In like manner, God has called you to this sacred trust - to teach children of Him and to prepare them for His kingdom. Do you accept this calling as your lifework and will you train your students in the fear and admonition of the Lord? TEACHERS: Yes we do! LEADER: Knowing the deceptions of the time, you should be diligent and work zealously to give your students the education which is consistent with the Word of God. They should be so instructed that they will set their resolution against evil, and determine not to enter into a path where the Holy Spirit does not lead. TEACHERS: Help us Lord to teach our students the instructions from you and to lead them by example. LEADER: The Giver expects returns corresponding to the gifts He has given. The humblest gift is not to be despised or left inactive. The little rivulet must not say, “I will not flow along my narrow channel because I am not a mighty river “, nor must a blade of grass refuse to grow because it is not a forest tree. God expects you to motivate the minutest of talents entrusted into your care.

Litany TEACHERS: Help us Lord to discern our gifts, and those of our students and may we use them for your glory. LEADER: The Lord does not regard the greatness of your labor so much as the fidelity with which it is done. Do you therefore purpose in your heart to be faithful in your service to Him and to your students? TEACHERS: By God’s grace we shall be faithful to our calling, for by so doing shall we receive the crown of life. LEADER: The future of society will be determined by the youth of today. Satan is making earnest, persevering efforts to corrupt their minds and debase their characters. As consecrated teachers, it is your duty to correct their faults and to point them to the One from whom all help comes. TEACHERS: Lord, you are our constant help! Help us to rightfully mold the character of our students, for we know that on it hangs their eternal destiny. LEADER: May the God of all wisdom abide with you and when the work to which you are called is finished, may you and all your students experience the joy of eternal life. TEACHERS: Lord, we are assured that if our work is pleasing in your sight, you will say to us, “Well done, good and faithful servant; enter thou into the joy of thy Lord.” CONGREGATION: Lord, let it be so, Amen!
