Function The company has the following duties under the Customs Modernization and Tariff Act (RA 10863): (a) Assessment and collection of customs revenues from imported goods and other dues, fees, charges, fines and penalties accruing under the CMTA; (b) Simplification and harmonization of customs procedures to facilitate movement of goods in international trade; (c) Border control to prevent entry of smuggled goods; (d) Prevention and suppression of smuggling and other customs fraud; (e) Facilitation and security of international trade and commerce through an informed compliance program; (f) Supervision and control over the entrance and clearance of vessels and aircraft engaged in foreign commerce; (g) Supervision and control over the handling of foreign mails arriving in the Philippines for the purpose of collecting revenues and preventing the entry of contraband; (h) Supervision and control on all import and export cargoes, landed or stored in piers, airports, terminal facilities, including container yards and freight stations for the protection of government revenue and prevention of entry of contraband; (i) Conduct a compensation study with the end view of developing and recommending to the President a competitive compensation and remuneration system to attract and retain highly qualified personnel, while ensuring that the Bureau remains financially sound and sustainable; (j) Exercise of exclusive original jurisdiction over forfeiture cases under the CMTA; and (k) Enforcement of the CMTA and all other laws, rules and regulations related to customs administration. 06

For her, the best part about working as an intern is learning about the various processes involved in imports. It's not as simple as she thought. The work is exhausting since there are weeks when she has a huge amount of data to encode to the point where she just wants to stop and sleep, but if she does, she will not be able to complete her task. From March to February, she works from home because the company is dealing with an issue such as terrorist attacks and bombings in Cathrese Macertain places. 07

MKTG 224 - ADVERTISING #ibaangABA #AimBelieveAchieve The company is very restricted when it comes to people going in and out of the customs, and every transaction inside the customs is very confidential, so engaging with an influencer to promote their services is not suitable. LAUNCH A MOBILE APPLICATION The company has developed a free mobile application to assist the general public, particularly balikbayans and OFWs. This easy-to-use tool calculates customs fees and taxes on commonly delivered commodities. Users may also track their shipments via the Balikbayan Box Tracker link in the app. The app also provides information on prohibited items, tax-exempt items, and taxable things, as well as answers to frequently asked questions about balikbayan boxes, parcels, and other related topics. 11

#ibaangABA #AimBelieveAchieve BUSINESS PROCESS MKTG 223 - DISTRIBUTION MANAGEMENT There are different facilities inside the company and the student intern currently working with the customs bonded warehouse division in which the company will ask for license approval for them to be able to import in the Philippines. Companies must also submit their list of monthly raw materials that they are importing and once it's approved that is when they can proceed and if ever there is additional product that isn't on the list there are some discussions that must take and of course additional taxes for the additional product The most recent and likely important issue that Problems customs is dealing with is presumably reports of that Customs terrorist attacks and even bombings in some dealing with areas, particularly during the months of March and February. As a result, customs is more tight and secure with the facilities and the people who enter the customs. Employees are being careful, and office hours are only available until 5 p.m. 13

TRACKHOW TO PARCEL? The website allows customers to track the status of their packages or balikbayan boxes. They can access the package and balikbayan box tracking system at parceltracking.customs.gov.ph. Customers only need to enter their tracking number to track their transaction. 14

ABEL 221 - AIRLINE PASSAGE #ibaangABA #AimBelieveAchieve CURRENT SITUATION According to what the student intern recently learned, there are certain customs intelligence investigation services that analyze various counterfeit shirts, perfumes, and other things worth an estimated $250 million. And she believes that the people who possess such products may be using them for commercial purposes, and that it would be inconvenient for them to just confiscate all of the items. CONTRIBUTE TO ECONOMIC SITUATION The company contributes to the Philippine economy's significant growth. It enables the national government to meet the demands of the country while also achieving long-term socioeconomic gains. 17

performance during & after the pandemic During the first semester of 2020, even before the first COVID-19 case in the Philippines is recorded, the company lined-up programs to introduce new systems and to fully implement “No Contact Policy” which promotes a corruption-free regime by minimizing face-to- face transactions which undoubtedly reduced the transmission of the virus between stakeholders in these times. And now we know that viruses are still around and even employees adjusted to the new normal, it is still better to act safely and always keep your distance. 18

#ibaangABA ADJUSTMENTS THAT HAPPENED IN#AimBelieveAchieve THEIR OPERATION The COVID-19 pandemic has altered our lives in ways we could never have imagined. However, one thing has become abundantly clear: the enduring necessity of global trade and programs promoting the free flow of products across borders, particularly crucial goods to areas where they are most needed. Because not all countries have the resources and expertise to create specific commodities and services, exports and imports are critical for the development and growth of national economies. Nonetheless, in order to protect their domestic industries, countries impose trade barriers such as tariffs and import restrictions. PROBLEMS ENCOUNTERED BY CUSTOMS IN INTERNATIONAL TRADE Labeling concerns involving a certificate of origin, weight, ingredients, marks, and so on are the most prevalent connected problems in importing or exporting national trades. The exporter provided insufficient documentation and issues regarding the receiving country's import or packing rules. 27
