CHAPTER ONE INTRODUCTION Hey everyone, my name is Steven. I was born in Montreal, Canada. I have a twin brother, and an older sister. My parents are \"happily\" divorced, and I still hear the low blows about the other when I see them. I grew up like any other kid in North America. I love Halloween, Christmas is my favorite holiday, and I still paint Easter eggs. I love sports, travelling, working out, and anything to do with electronics and technology. I’m a huge movie buff, you can find amazing inspiration from the right movie. Everything going forward in this eBook will be written in a simple, easy to read, dumbed down approach to business and success. I want to make this as simple to understand, and easy to apply, without getting too crafty with my vocabulary. One thing to keep in mind is that I can't help you, only you can help you, and that starts with asking theright questions, and when you come looking for the answers, you'll stumble on my work, and thousands of others in the success space. I can't tell you how many times I've tried helping people become financially successful, friends, family members, if someone isn’t looking for help, you can't help them, they have to come to you with the burning desire to change. Sure, entrepreneurship is not for everyone, and my business partners remind me of this whenever I give the speech. So, it’s only when you seek drastic change in your life that you can come to me and others with an open mind and willingness to learn. Stop listening to what society tells you, the government, your parents. If you want to have an exciting life, a life of freedom, only you can give yourself permission. As passionate as I am to see people change their life, it's an exhausting process when you really want to help someone, and they're not open to being helped. I'm the type, that if someone I know, friend or family, created a successful online business, I'd be trying to learn as much as I can, offer value, help them make their lives easy just to gain some insight and knowledge.

03 | START SUCCESS I've gone through school my whole life, just like everyone else. I completed my Bachelor of Commerce Degree with a discipline in Management at the prestigious John Molson School of Business. I have my own opinion about education and school in general, but I'll reserve that for a video. As soon as I finished, I found a sales job in downtown Montreal, it was the only kind of job I can find because my French was not good enough for working proficiency. I worked there for only 8 months. I managed to get top phone sales one of the months, and that's only because the best guy was on sick leave. At the age of 29, I had $900 Canadian in my bank account when I quit my job cold turkey, I left to pursue working for myself, and grow a business, a marketing agency that my twin brother, my brother in law, and I were working on while we were all at our \"day jobs\". I had to learn to pitch CEOs, big corporations, gym chains, beauty chains, restaurants etc... I took that $900 Canadian in my bank account, despite having rent cost, car payments, and other expenses; I turned it into $3,000,000 USD profit in less than 3 years, a very good return if you ask me. If you don't have money, use your best available resources, which is your TIME and your BRAIN like I did, and I promise you you'll find success. I've always had a knack for business, entrepreneurship, taking risks. I wheeled and deal at an early age with toys, and video games. I learned a lot of these skills from my dad. When I was 19, I sold old computers from the 80s, new in box, on eBay. My dad found them at a warehouse where the company was tossing them in the garbage. He called me up and asked if I wanted them, and I knew I could likely sell them on eBay by doing a quick search on the computer, and seeing the prices it was going for. That was my first taste of generating income by myself, and it was very profitable, some computers sold for $250, other units for $1000, all in USD (USD is the international currency for business). At the age of 24, I found a way to import products from overseas, and sell it at a ridiculous profit on eBay. I went ahead and opened an eBay store. I know eBay like the back of my hand. My brother created a video game blog to monetize eBay sales by making articles, and linking eBay auctions on the website back to eBay, and when the auction sold, we made a commission. The profits were amazing, but not sustainable for the long term.

I'm here to share with you the methods, thinking, and strategies that got me to where I am today. The business models, things I did, step by step processes will all be done via my video channel. This doesn't mean you will do the exact same thing, however, it will give you the best resource you can find today to create your own success and live a life of freedom and happiness. This is not about luck, chance, inheritance, winning the lottery, hitting it lucky on a stock and cashing out or worst, scamming people. This is about hard work, drive, and persistence. Anyone can do it. It doesn't matter if you're male or female, of a certain culture, religion, skin color, it simply DOES NOT matter.  

05 | START SUCCESS It's hard to define what success is, I've always been curious, I've there's so many meanings on a always questioned things. I spiritual level, financial level, and didn't realize it back then, but personal level. I believe they are all by asking myself questions, it intertwined, so go ahead and led me to where I am today. START SUCCESS | 06 Below is a series of my own notes, and notes I've taken from YouTube videos, books, speakers like Tony Robbins, Les Brown, combined with my own notes to bring to you the best way to understand your mind, as well as the exercises and techniques you can implement, to make drastic change in your life. I'm not going to go into detail about the subconscious mind, you can simply Google it, or pick up a copy of Harry Carpenter's book, \"The Genie Within\" to get an excellent understanding of this all, and how you can use the subconscious mind to be successful. There are lots of resources beyond this eBook which I will list on www.startsuccess.com. This isn't hocus pocus, voodoo or wishful thinking. It simply works. I didn't have this detailed of a breakdown when I started business, but this stuff will help you in tough times, to better understand what drives you, where to find motivation, and desire. It will keep you going when the going gets tough. All this is crucial to your success. You can be the smartest person, most talented, have the best idea, but without purpose, drive, and a burning desire to succeed, you won't go very far, something along the way will mess up your mojo and you'll quit. In my videos that you can find on my website at www.startscuccess.com and YouTube, I'll be touching some of these concepts below with amazing tricks I used that kept the fire going whenever I wanted to give up, and believe me; I can count past 100 in terms of wanting to give up. CHAPTER TWO THE MIND Having coached students, provided trainings, talked at seminars, I will tell you success starts with the mind. I can talk about business models, ways I've made money, show you a step by step process, give you resources and references, but I want you to start on the right path, in the right order, and make this as easy as possible for you because the step by step model will only work for so long. In my videos I'll cover all that, but you need to start here. Your brain is an amazing machine, a learning computer. You can ask it any question and it will come up with the answer. Whatever question you ask it, with the expectation you'll get an answer, and do it consistently, you will get an answer. This is how you communicate with the subconscious mind, by asking questions, using emotions and images. 90% of what you do is governed by your subconscious mind, and only 10% is conscious. Think about that for a second. All the bad habits, doubts, fear, laziness, it all rests in your subconscious mind.

08 | START SUCCESS I'm not qualified to explain this in detail; I'm simply paraphrasing the experts in the books I've read. When babies are born, they are open to suggestions, this is why I cringe when a parent says something stupid to their kid, you can't do this, it's not for girls, you're not allowed to do that. All these comments at any age are stupid, but when said at an early age, can have a profound effect on a child's mind. They are receptive to commands, learning, negative comments. It influences their decisions, behaviors, thoughts, and beliefs as they age. The power of learning, suggestion, all that starts as soon as you're born up until 6 years old. This is why you see amazing things done by children when they're young. They can learn 5 languages, play the piano, learn math. If you know how to access your subconscious mind, you'll be able to install these skills, learn, and excel. I'M SIMPLY PARAPHRASING THE EXPERTS IN THE BOOKS I'VE READ.

CHAPTER THREE QUESTIONS The quality of your life comes down to the quality of the questions you ask on a daily basis. When I learned the techniques, I used it for school exams. It did wonders. In \"The Genie Within\", Harry states that your subconscious mind has periods in a day where it's easy to access. You can also access it in delta/theta states. As soon as you go to bed and you're tired, you have a 25- minute period to implant suggestions to your subconscious mind, ask questions to problems, learn, and the same thing as soon as you wake up. What I did for school (and I don't condone this to anyone because it's probably not the smartest thing to do if you don't study all semester), is to gather all the notes you have for a specific class, whether it's 2 papers or 10. Read all the notes before you go to bed, preferably when you're tired.  Read them over again if you have time. Put them at your bed side, and go to bed. When you wake up in the morning, the very first thing you need to do is to grab those notes, and read them again. Do this over a course of 2-3 days, a week if you want, and you'll retrieve most of the information.

Because I want more time to do the things I love to do, I don't want to depend on a boss, an employer, I want my family to be better off, I want my future family generation to be better off. You guys and gals can find that juice. Purpose is the why, 80% of success is why, 20% is how. Get a big enough why, and people will figure out how to do it. So you better know the why. What is your outcome, and why? Focus on WHY you want something, get an emotion behind it like anger, revenge, frustration, happiness, and that will drive you in ways you wouldn’t imagine. A perfect example is when everyone I knew told me I wasn’t going to succeed (can you imagine?), that I was stupid for leaving my job, I have no future, and it pissed me off so much that I wanted to prove them wrong, so I stayed focused and continued to work even when I wanted to give up. How are you going to get there? What are you going to do? When you're crystal clear on what you want, and why you want it, you can take the proper action. If you just did this exercise in your head, you'll get some valuable resources. If you learn to put this on paper, then you can see it. If you make it into a system, your personal use, your productivity will explode.

CHAPTER FOUR FOCUS Change your focus with questions. What's great in your life right now? How does that make you feel inside? If you're feeling unhappy, it means you're focusing on all the bad things in your life, and you're deleting all the good things. There's so much you can focus on to feel good at any given moment, but you must do this with questions, delete the bad thoughts. Doing this daily, asking questions to make you focus, this is where your power will come from. Whatever you focus on you get. So focus on what's possible and create it. If you change your focus, you can feel good instantly, at this very moment. Focus is controlled by questions. If you ask a different question continuously, you'll get a different answer. If you ask a lousy question, you get a lousy answer and a lousy state. State, focus, and questions are all related. If you want to change anything in your life, you have the choice. Make the decision

CHAPTER FIVE STATE Controlling your state will allow you to take action. It's the difference of asking good questions and bad questions. There are two things that determine your choices: 1) State of mind and emotion you're in, in that moment. When we get in the wrong state, we make the wrong decisions. When we get in the right state, we make empowering decisions. 2) Another thing that effects your decisions is your story or your belief. People are happy when they make progress. When you ask your brain questions with a sincere desire and interest, and keep asking, then you will get it. You already have the things you need to succeed, the reasons are there, and you just need to ask good questions. Here's a bad question, \"Can I really do this?” here, you are doubting your ability, you’re feeling uncertain. Your subconscious can't guide you in the right direction because you didn't ask something specifically. Here's an example of a good question, \"How can I do \"x\" right now and have fun doing it?” ask with excitement! Replace \"x\" with whatever you want. You need to feel the emotion to get the result.

Every morning you wake up, ask yourself questions. Truth is, you're already doing this, but not consistently. Think about it, as a guy when you're shaving, are you not asking questions constantly? Some questions you're asking are subconscious like when you're driving, and you will never even realize it. Good questions: 1) What are you most happy about in life right now? How does that make you feel? 2) What about that, makes you happy? 3) What are you really excited about in your life right now? 4) What are you really grateful for right now? How does that make you feel? These are all positive questions, asking effective questions and really feeling them emotionally will control your state. This is the power of focus. Write down your questions, see it on paper, there's something magical when you write things down versus just reading. Make this into a new habit; it will condition your nervous system. Every morning you need to answer these 5 questions twice over with strong emotion, and feel the answer each morning. Install new questions that will empower you.

START SUCCESS | 17 What everyone wants is to feel good, to have those special feelings inside (tip: It's not money, relationships, being thin). We just want to manage our emotions, manage our state. The quickest way to change our behavior is to change how we feel. What is the difference in your behaviour, one moment you're angry, the next you're happy. The difference is what state we are in, in that moment. For example, when someone thinks of public speaking in terms of fear, they will be in a bad state, but if they think of pleasure, they will be in a great state. Learning to manage your state is the most important thing in life. Is your state determined by: - How others treat you? - Weather? - Economy? - People? - External Environment? The right answer is no, but most people will answer yes. Remember that you are in control of your own state, and if you understand this, you will have more joy, passion, and fun in life. Just think about the opposite, what's the price of not managing your state? There are 2 ways to control state: 1) Controlling your mind & body (Physiology) 2) Controlling your mental focus (What you think about, what you picture, what you say to yourself) Physical Movement: In order to feel anything in your life, you feel it through your nervous system, through your physical body. CHAPTER SIX CHANGE WITH MOTIVATION People will do more to avoid pain then they will to gain pleasure. Understand what will happen if you don't make changes to your life, ask yourself this, envision in the future how your life will look, you'll still be going to the same job, collecting the same pay, same lifestyle. What if you do make the changes in your life to get to your goal, and how will your life look like. You need to actually lie down, close your eyes and envision this, feel it emotionally, go through the experience in your mind to feel the emotion of no change versus change. This will motivate you. I know it sounds stupid, I know you want to get passed this stuff, and I know you feel it's a waste of time.

START SUCCESS | 21 I said the same thing, and for a long time I avoided doing any sort of dumb exercise in any of these business books, but when I saw my results stagnate, I decided to actually write down on paper these exercises, and the results we're evident, which is why I am telling YOU to do it. You might not see it overnight, or in a week, but it won't take long before you actually START to see results in your life, and you'll come back to tell me this. What's another way to get motivated? One way is to FEAR what life will be like if you don't follow through. Be afraid of missing out. What pisses you off and what gets you excited is all related!! Do one thing a day as a ritual to condition the mind, do it for 4-8 weeks to make it a habit. If you're not hungry, get around people who are hungry, chances are it will rub off on you. Certainty is the Holy Grail. If you are certain doing this action will get you the result, you'll do it. It can't be doubted or in middle ground, uncertainty, 50%, that will kill people. You can't say you'll \"try\" or \"see how it works out\", you must fully commit to the action. Jump right into the cold pool. You don't necessarily have to have your back to the wall with no way out, but it did certainly drive and push me when I quit my job cold turkey. You'll have a fight or flight response, and most people flight, to win, you must fight and do whatever it takes to succeed, because there is ALWAYS a way. You have to be obsessed with the desire to succeed.

CHAPTER SEVEN HOW TO TAKE ACTION, THE HOLY GRAIL OF BELIEF 1) What's the potential? 2) What action? 3) Result reinforces belief If you believe there's very little potential, how much action will you take? When you take little potential with little action, what kind of results will you get? If you have little results, what does that do to your belief? To make this work, you need to get into a state of certainty that you WILL make this work or you will find a way to make it work. This is like a salesman going to 100 doors, if he doesn't believe it's going to work, it will show up in his face, tone etc... He can take massive action, but doesn't believe in himself, it won't work.

23 | START SUCCESS It's not more potential or more action, we got results in our head as though it already happened. Example: when I had nothing, I already knew I was driving Ferraris, I knew I was going to have them, it was inevitable. You have to have an obsession towards it. You need to condition yourself over and over again. How much does the mind effect performance? Sports athletes use this all the time, they envision hitting the baseball over and over again, shooting a basketball into the net, hitting the hockey puck past the goalie. You visualize it perfectly that when you go to do it, there is no hesitation. It's having that absolute certainty, which taps into your full potential, takes massive action, gets massive results, and reinforces a stronger belief. We become what we think about. IT'S HAVING THAT ABSOLUTE CERTAINTY, WHICH TAPS INTO YOUR FULL POTENTIAL...

CHAPTER EIGHT EXCUSES Excuses are a result of just being lazy, not pushing your full brain capacity. It hurts to think, to keep the gears turning in your brain, it's like this for everyone, but everyone opts out and goes back to watch TV, browse the internet, play video games to replenish their dopamine levels. It takes discipline to keep working and stay focused, even when it's boring and not fun. Reading a book is hard for me at times. My mind wonders off to the things that provide instant stimulus. Train your mind to read boring stuff even when you don't want to. Despite what scholars and experts say about work/life balance, that's a term for employees, but as someone whose only goal is success and building an incredible business, you need to dedicate your whole time, sacrifice most of the pleasures in life. Do whatever it take to win. Work 23 hours in a day, do what you can to get it done. Do this  initially, and rewards will follow. You can't try, or attempt, or give a few hours. 

START SUCCESS | 25 You need to apply all your time and focus to make something work, even if that means sitting at a computer for 16 hours a day. Every moment of your life is not about planning, it's about creating. You create things with your vision, your language, and action. Your vision and language will shape how you feel, and what you do and don't. It takes longer in the beginning, but once you get your words, things are fast. It's like a light switch; you turn yourself on and know the triggers. This is a system of thinking and feeling to produce massive results. The power of language produces passion. CHAPTER NINE THE POWER OF LANGUAGE The language you use produces your emotion. Why is language so important in managing your life and your results? Because we don't experience life, we experience it the way we label it. If you have an experience, and in your body it's a feeling of discomfort, think of it as a funnel, and all this noise, this environmental stimulus is coming through you, and you have certain words you use very often, 2 or 3 words, and if they are \"pissed off\", \"frustrated\", and \"annoyed\", you're going to get a very different experience then if you use, \"inconvenient\". It has nothing to do with the actual experience, it's the words. Example; \"John, you're mistaken\" versus \"John, you're wrong\" or \"John, you're lying\". John will get into a tense experience when you say \"lying\". All you need to do is change one word and you change your biochemistry. Words affect people. Like labelling everything as great. A lot of how your life is, is how you use language habitually. Language is a trigger for meaning, and meaning equals emotion.

CHAPTER TEN FEAR One good way to deal with fear is to turn it on itself and ask 'what am I afraid of' and being more afraid of what you're missing out on. If you can't get rid of fear, then use fear, or it will use you. Be fearful that your life won't change; you'll continue to live a mediocre life if you don't take the risks and put in the effort to grow. Be fearful that you're putting time and effort, making sacrifices in your life to grow this business, that you MUST make this work; use this fear to FUEL you. It will push you in tough times. People want certainty in life, so they get it by addictions, smoking, drinking, TV shows, Facebook, snapchat, twitter, news. What stops you from getting what you want in life is the story you tell yourself. You need to know where you are, where you want to be, and how to get there.

CHAPTER ELEVEN IDENTITY Define Yourself: Your beliefs Look at a place of yourself that there is a limitation and ask yourself when did you decide to take on this limitation? Joy comes when you're spontaneous. Do things without thinking, because when you do that, that’s when the energy comes up. When you connect to your true nature, suddenly there's energy available to set a higher standard in your life. Should vs. MUST is a huge difference. Define the type of person you want to be, this is who you already are. Stop pursuing that person and in the moment, be that person, right now and from this day forward. DEFINE THE TYPE OF PERSON YOU WANT TO BE, THIS IS WHO YOU ALREADY ARE.

30| START SUCCESS A leader is someone who lives life on their own terms. It's not about becoming that person; it's about already being him or her. Know thyself, be thyself. A coward dies a thousand deaths, a courageous man only once, because a coward lives in his head, if you have any real faith or courage, you'll just deal with it. You only feel the pain one time instead of it being stacked over and over and over again. I’ve taken some HUGE risks when I first started out. They didn’t seem like risks, and I wasn’t aware of the consequences, so that’s partially why I did it, by being clueless, however, it taught me a good lesson, because the bigger the risk I took, the greater the reward. A COWARD DIES A THOUSAND DEATHS, A COURAGEOUS MAN ONLY ONCE, BECAUSE A COWARD LIVES IN HIS HEAD, IF YOU HAVE ANY REAL FAITH OR COURAGE, YOU'LL JUST DEAL WITH IT.

They are signals to ACT, and when you're not acting, you feel sick to your stomach. So you keep on indulging and not hearing the message. It means you must change something, change your action, your focus. Ask what this message is telling you.

32| START SUCCESS There's 4 ways of dealing with emotions: 2) Acknowledge and appreciate 1) Supress them (avoid them), don't feel them the message it has for you (but you need to! It gives juice, that's life. Life is expressing or feeling) 3) Get incredibly curious as to what the message is. 2) Endure them 4) Get yourself to feel reassured 3) People compete who feels the worst (I had that you can deal with this a bad day, yeah me too) emotion by remembering a time you dealt with it successfully in 4) Share their pain, their problems. the past. Change that body, go lift weights, go for that run, do something that will get you in that state. Train your body and mind. 3) Hurt: An expectation that is not FEAR, ANXIETY, met. So focus on what you want right DOUBT, now. Or change your communication. UNCERTAINTY... Communicate your needs better. THEY'RE PHYSICAL 4) Frustration: What you're doing isn't EXPERIENCES. working, so change. 5) Disappointed: You expected something to happen and it didn't, so focus on what you want. We grow or we die. Progress is happiness. What you get will never make you happy. Who you will become. 6) Need for contribution Anytime your mind perceives that doing something, believing something, or feeling something, meets 3 of your needs, then you will become addicted to that thought, that feeling, that emotion or action.

37 | START SUCCESS FINAL THOUGHTS If you're reading this right now, then I congratulate you, seriously. All what was written above even hurt my brain. But you did it, and now you need to take what you read and put it into action. Before you do that, I cannot stress this enough. There are many reasons why I am where I am today, and why I still continue to achieve more, and I push myself. Your best thinking has got you to where you are in your life right now.
