หลักการใช้

ประโยคอดีตกาลต่อเนื่อง (PAST CONTINUOUS) มีหลักการใช้ หรือจะใช้เพื่อสื่อสารเหตุการณ์ ดังต่อไปนี้ 1.เหตุการณ์ที่เกิดก่อนหรือหลังอีกเหตุการณ์หนึ่ง (ในอดีต) ·KEVIN WAS GETTING OFF WHEN HE REALIZED THAT HE LOST HIS PASSPORT. ·THOSE BOYS WERE CELEBRATING AFTER THEIR TEAM HAD THEIR FIRST GOAL. 2.เหตุการณ์ที่เกิดก่อนหรือหลังเวลาที่เฉพาะเจาะจง (ในอดีต) ·I WAS SPEAKING CHINESE WHEN I RECEIVED YOUR CALL. ·DOCTOR WATSON WAS PARTYING WITH THIS FAMILY AFTER NEW YEAR’S DAY. 3.เหตุการณ์ที่เกิดขึ้นซ้ำมาสักพักแล้ว (ในอดีต) ·I WAS ALWAYS LOSING MY MONEY. ·HANNAH WAS MISSING HER BUS AGAIN.

4.เหตุการณ์ที่เกิดขึ้นซ้ำบ่อยๆ (ในอดีต) ·THE GOVERNMENT WAS RAISING THE TAXES TO COVER THE LOSS. ·THE STORM WAS HITTING A SMALL TOWN. 5.ใช้บอกเหตุการณ์ที่มีการเปลี่ยนแปลง (ในอดีต) ·SHERLOCK HOLMES WAS LOOKING FOR A NEW HOUSE TO LIVE IN. ·SHE WAS GROWING UP SO FAST WHEN SHE WAS A TEEN. เพราะฉะนั้น ก่อนที่เราจะเลือกใช้ Past continuous tense อย่าลืมกลับมาดูถึงหลักการใช้ ว่าประโยคที่เราต้องการจะสื่อสาร ตรงกับหลักการข้อใดข้อหนึ่งหรือไม่ด้วยนะคะ

Subjeปctร+ะโwยคasบ/อ wกeเลr่eา + V.ing was ใช้กับประธานที่มี 1 เดียว เช่น I หรือชื่อคนๆ เดียว เช่น Miranda, Jose, Lilly เป็นต้น were ใช้กับประธานที่มีมากกว่า 1 เช่น classmates, security guards และสรรพนาม we, you, they   ***เมื่อเราเลือก was/ were  ได้ถูกต้องแล้ว เราต้องใส่-ing ที่คำกริยาต่อ เช่น*** They were driving fast when the accident happened. Brenda was cleaning her house when a bird tapped on her window. The mailman fell when he was approaching our door.

North Korea was not signing the deal with its counterpart after the conflict in April. ข้อสังเกต รูปย่อของ was not/ were not สามารถใช้ได้ในภาษาพูด หรือภาษาที่ไม่เป็นทางการนะคะ was not= wasn’t  /  were not = weren’t

บทสรุปท้ายบทเกี่ยวกับ Past Continuous พวกเราต้องเปลี่ยนคำกริยาตามประธานในประโยคให้เหมาะสม โดยใช้ was หรือ were และกริยาต้องมี -ing การทำประโยคคำถามใน Past continuous tense เราต้องสลับคำกริยา was/were ไว้หน้าประธานในประโยค คำกริยาบางตัวไม่สามารถใช้ -ing ได้
