Dimalanta April 15, 2020 PE-HBO (2nd Semester) Tasks for PE (Swimming) April 15- April 22, 2020 1. Identify the four different strokes in swimming. (5pts each) 40 a. Freestyle b. Backstroke c. Breaststroke d. Butterfly 2. Identify at least two (2) swimming equipments and explain it in your own experience its functions and how these equipments benefited you in learning swimming. (10pts each) 20pts a. kickboard – it is a device made of foam. In my experience the function of which is to help me stay afloat while my legs do all the work. I learn a lot from using this equipment one thing I learned is the coordination of my kicks. b. pool noodle – it is a tube floatation device that is wrap under arms or around the waist. It keeps me stay afloat and moving at the same time. It helps me in executing the different strokes without fatigue and it increases my endurance and strength 3. Give at least 4 benefits of swimming and explain it based on your experiences which you have achieved or develop during our PE classes. (10pts each) 40pts a. Builds cardiorespiratory fitness – executing different strokes in swimming from our PE class builds my cardiorespiratory/ cardiopulmonary fitness and it improves my endurance. Breathing exercises are also done before and after swimming doing swimming activities. It helps maintain a healthy weight, healthy heart and lungs b. Burns calories and builds muscle mass – swimming burns a lot of calories approximately 500- 650 per hour depending on how you swim. The more you exert effort in swimming the more you

Swimming provides all-over body workout as nearly all of my muscle are used during swimming. I didn’t gain muscle mass that much but a bit heavier than before I enrolled swimming as PE. c. Coordination, balance and posture – it improves my body coordination, balance and posture with the help of floating devices (eg. Pool noodle). I learned a lot from this swimming class. d. Deals with stress – it helps me in alleviating stress, relax and enjoy at the same time. Being a relaxing and peaceful form of exercise, helps to calm my brain.
