RELEVANCE OF SOCIAL STUDIES IN MY DAY TO DAY LIFE Social studies can also be referred to as social sciences. It’s a field which deals with human behaviour, relationships, resources, and institutions. Specific topics within social studies that are studied in school coursework include geography, anthropology, economics, history, sociology, political science, and civics. Social studies connect students like me with the real world. In today’s interconnected world, we must be prepared to interact with people of all cultures and communities, and social studies prepares us for this. Students learn skills through social studies that help them succeed in further education as well as life. Social studies education helps me to understand the world I live in, so I can make informed decisions about issues affecting me, especially when I grow older. Through social studies, students like me develop historical thinking and literacy as a way of navigating our world. Social studies is not simply a discussion of history and literature, it seeks to integrate knowledge about the past into the context of society today.
