We invite you to visit the18 existing Arts and Crafts workshops from Ricardo do Espírito Santo Silva Foundation (FRESS) through the Beeing Bainha collection: for 3 generations, thanks to the mastery and traditional methods, original pieces are reproduced, new or restoration works take place and unique pieces are created, traveling from Portas do Sol in Lisbon to the whole world.
All bees presented in the Beeing Bainha collection come originally from a gold engraving iron for books, which is over 100 years old.

Manual Gold Beating 63 Manually beating gold is a rare process, practiced in Europe only by FRESS. Transforming a 400g gold bar into a very thin sheet that then serves other crafts such as Book Decoration, requires strength, skill and precision.

This flower is part of the largest collection in the world of irons for book 81 decoration. The decorative process is made with delicate leaves of fine 23-carat gold, prepared by Manual Gold Beating Workshop. With firmness and controlling the breathing, making pressure on the engraving iron, the ornamental composition is created.

Tassels, trimmings, grosgrain ribbons and cords for decorating sofas, chairs or curtains. This loom art comes originally from Asia, expanding to Europe in the 12th century. The process starts with the choice of colors: in each brush more than 10 threads are involved, with nuances of the same color or different colors. Each piece is unique and unrepeatable. 85
